recently disgorged Brut Rosé truly hits the mark right now. We are also excited to present the 32nd bottling of our Mirabelle Brut multi-vintage sparkling wine, primarily produced from the 2020 vintage, and disgorged with more than two years on its yeast lees.
Dear Schramsberg and Davies Vineyards Enthusiasts
On to the Davies red wines! We invite you to select from a range of principally 2019 Cabernet Sauvignons and 2021 Pinot Noirs. The 2019 J. Davies Estate “Jamie” Diamond Mountain Cabernet is the standout here. With broad layers of dark fruit and spice carried by supple, structured tannins and a long, lingering finish, this bottle is set for decades of aging potential.
Greetings from our team on Diamond Mountain and in St. Helena! We are thrilled to present our 2023 Holiday Catalog, showcasing the diverse, currently available array of bottlings from our Schramsberg sparkling and Davies red wine portfolio. At the top of the list are the current vintage offerings of three of our crown jewels: the 2014 J. Schram Blancs, the 2014 J. Schram Noirs and the 2019 J. Davies Estate “Jamie” Cabernet Sauvignon. In creating this year’s catalog, our marketing team worked with photography, locations and objects across our winery properties that reflect upon our unique history and the courageous winemaking artisans that came before us. Thank you, Matt Levy and Ileana BandaTravagli, for this beautiful effort, with bottle sets artfully displayed in our olive tree lane, caves, barrel house, gardens, and vineyards. Bygone family heirlooms, valued possessions of those whose names are carried on our labels, share some of the color and character of our predecessors. You will note Jacob Schram’s desk and an etching of his famous visitor in 1880, Robert Louis Stevenson. We celebrate the Davies family’s Welsh ancestry, some of whom immigrated to America from the villages of Tredegar and Prestatyn around 1890. We share one of our classic photos of a youthful Jamie Davies along with husband Jack’s favorite musical spoons and harmonica. And we reflect on Jack and Jamie’s passion for collecting Native American artifacts and masks, some of which you may have seen on display in our hospitality venues. To the bottles! The dry, early, low-yielding 2014 vintage is the second in which we labeled a J. Schram
Blancs and a J. Schram Noirs. Both aged for eightplus years, the Blancs features our long-time vineyard partners, Hyde and Schwarze (Napa Carneros), and the Keefer Ranch (Sonoma’s Green Valley), while the Noirs is focused on coastal sites from Redding Ranch (Marin), Nobles (Sonoma), and Juster (Mendocino). Two exciting, just-released, 2018 vineyard-designate sparkling wines are also featured, including our first ever “Poseidon Vineyard” Blanc de Blancs from the Molnar family’s Napa Carneros property, and the “Caminante del Cielo” Blanc de Noirs, from the hills above Nicasio in West Marin County. An edgy 2019 Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut is another small production bottling worthy of your consideration. The 2020 vintage is now available across the board in our classic Schramsberg sparkling wine lineup. Because of the concurrent pandemic and wildfires that year, there is no vintage that has forced us to work harder. The
The 2021 Pinot Noir set is as fine as we have produced, with six diverse vineyard-designate and three appellation blends crafted. Our first ever bottlings of “Dutton-Hallberg” from Sonoma’s Russian River Valley and “Poseidon Vineyard” from the Napa Carneros are both noteworthy, as is the second bottling of “Keefer Ranch” in Sonoma’s Green Valley, a vineyard that we acquired prior to the 2019 growing season. Some of these bottlings will be available only as part of a club shipment, making them even more rare. We give special acknowledgment to our winemakers and production crew, led by Sean Thompson and Jessica Koga over these past eight years, for their dedicated, extraordinary work. What a long way we have come since Jack and Jamie started in 1965! On behalf of our family and the whole Schramsberg and Davies Team, we look forward to seeing you at one of our tasting rooms or events in 2024. The highlight of the year should be our third Vintner Cruise, occurring July 2024 across the North and Baltic Seas.
