Good Bye MaKami Capilano and St. Gabes!

Hi Richard! Meet Richard! His life motto is to make someone smile each day, and his position as a learning assistant and an A&P instructor at MaKami Edmonton allows him the opportunity to interact with dedicated students and inspiring colleagues each day. Richard is passionate about sharing his knowledge and he is always excited to learn more with his students!

There is no doubt that students and staff were excited to move to our new location at Bonnie Doon Centre, but the move is still bitter sweet. We’ve had some amazing memories at our Capilano and St. Gabes locations that we will never forget. A huge shoutout to everyone who pitched in to help make the move and transition as smooth as possible.

As a MaKami College alumnus, his experiences allow him to educate and demonstrate the true meaning of being a professional massage therapist. Outside of MaKami, Richard occupies his time by playing hockey, practicing his golf swings, lifting weights, or playing video games.

Around Campus: Calgary Popcorn Day Fun! We understand that students can feel pressure or stress to do well in their studies. With that in mind, our teams like to plan fun activities to lighten the mood, and to bring a little fun to campus.

Meet the Staff

These fun events are great ways for classmates to get to know each other and for students to interact with instructors on a social level. This month MaKami Calgary enjoyed Popcorn Day festivities, with games and prizes and of course Popcorn to snack on!

Calgary Community Outreach Schedule: May May 26: Scotiabank Marathon

Celebrations With Our MaKami Family

Meet Arturas If you haven’t already, meet Arturas! He’s the lead instructor for both the Osteology and Myology and Practical classes at MaKami’s Calgary campus. Arturas is no stranger to MaKami’s massage program as he completed the two-year program himself in July 2015. He loves teaching students and helping them obtain more knowledge about massage and everything related to it. Arturas was born in Lithuania and moved to Canada with his wife, Odeta, in 2012.

With all the hours our students spend together in class, studying outside of class, during clinic hours, and at Community Outreach Events, it is only natural to bond with each other and become more like a family than fellow students.

He loves being active and his latest athletic accomplishment is completing the Ironman triathlon in Calgary last year.

It warms our hearts to see the relationships grow and watch our little MaKami families celebrate the milestones in each other’s lives. In April MaKami Calgary student, Ayodele Igboanusi, celebrated her birthday with her class family.

He also loves to spend time with his family in his spare time.
