FOREST CABINS

FOREST CABINS

The structure consists of two var iations of a wooden luxurious cabin and was created as an extension to a mountain refuge in a sub-alpine forest. Concrete is used strictly for the foundations and the cabins, composed of steal frames and wood panels, have a temporary character and minimal affect to their surroundings.

FALIRO PARK THESIS PROJECT

Facing the Aegean Sea, the Faliro park of Kavala is located west of the port, near the busiest areas of the city and a breath away from the archaeological museum of Kavala.

The park’s current state lacks shade and homogeneity in design and contains many large and empty or awkward spaces. Also its network of parallels and perpendiculars hardly serves its irregular shape and the un restricted movement of pedestrians. Conclusively, a more fluid and organic approach would be preferable.

The proposal consists of a central plaza and a ‘trail system’ that originated from the park’s original entrances The main axes are shaped as exten tions of the city streets and lead to the center of park. These paths connect the heart of the composition with the city itself, the museum, a playground, a small ‘forest’ with a ‘crow’s nest’, a skate-park, and finally the sea itself.

HYBRIDITY

Medusa is a hybrid game that augments the visitor’s experience by making public space infrastructure playable.

The app is homonymous to Medusa, a ‘research and resources’ company that uses state of the art technology and has discovered a mineral reserve of an extremely rare and precious metal on the sea floor, near the port. After all, the area has been famous for mining lead, zinc, gold and iron ore since antiquity.

The company promises employ ment, wealth and prosperity for the city in exchange for the residents’ economic and ideological support.

On the other side, the Strangers, an activist group that accuses the company of fraud and money laundering. With absolute devotion to their leader, the Stranger, a nearly supernatural figure with a connection to the Sea itself, the activists try to sabotage the endeavor in her name, try ing to save their city from the upcom ing economical and environmental disaster like the Laurium affair.

Both these groups try to recruit the player while he hunts for truth and treasure.

THERMAL BATHS

At an altitude of 500metres, Thermes is a residential area that consists of three settlements south of the Greek-Bulgarian bordes: Ano, Meses and Kato Thermes and is named after the thermal springs that are located 1km east of Kato Thermes.

The building complex provides accessibility to the hot springs, ac commodates wellness activities and offers an excellent, both alternative and relaxing, weekend getaway.
