Connor Gibson

Falcon was only able to compete once during the indoor season before he was lost to injury, but received a medical hardship... set personal bests in the 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meters during the outdoor season... cleared 32:23.93 at the Drake Relays in the 10,000... ran 4:01.30 in the 1,500 at the Nebraska Quad... continued his progress one week later at the Concordia Twilight with a time of 14:57.64 in the 5,000.

Falcon competed in five meets during the indoor season, opening his career at the Holiday Inn Invitational in the 5,000 meters (15:29.24)... ran a personal-best time of 8:50.51 in the 3,000 meters at the Conference Challenge... redshirted the outdoor season due to knee pain... finished runner-up in the young men’s 5,000-meter at the USATF Junior Olympics with a then-personal-best time of 15:17.49.

Falcon had personal-best performances at the 2007 Nebraska state track meet to finish fourth in both the 1,600 (4:26.07) and 3,200 (9:42.86) for Coach Craig Christians... also ran the anchor leg on the fifth-place 4x800-meter relay team.... finished fifth at the 2006 meet in the 3,200 and seventh in the 1,600... finished 10th in the young men’s 5,000 meters (16:00.55) at the 2006 USATF Junior Olympic Championships in Walnut, Calif.

Connor Gibson redshirted both the indoor and outdoor seasons in his first year at Nebraska.

High School (Blair HS)

Gibson made his first appearance at the state track and field meet as a sophomore, finishing 10th in the 1,600 meters and running the third leg of the third-place 4x800-meter relay... returned in 2009 to win three state medals by winning the 1,600 meters (4:20.77), finishing third in the 800 meters (1:57.37) and running the anchor leg of the winning 4x800-meter relay... capped his prep career with four state medals, including three Class B state titles and two All-Class gold medals at the 2010 meet... ran the top time across all classes in the 800 meters (1:55.17) and 1,600 meters (4:21.77), anchored the winning 4x800-meter relay and added a runner-up finish in the 3,200 meters... three-time state qualifier in cross country... won the 2009 Nebraska cross country title in Class B.

Luke Franssen competed in three meets during the outdoor track and field season... hit a season-best vault of 15-9 at the Nebraska Open to finish in second place... came in eighth at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational with a pole vault of 15-7 3/4.

2010 (Sophomore)

Franssen topped his previous indoor best of 16-2 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational with a vault of 16-6 3/4... cleared 16-5 1/2 at the Big 12 Indoor Championships to finish seventh... competed just twice during the outdoor season, including a tie for 14th at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships (15-8 1/2).

2009 (Redshirt Freshman)

Franssen matched his then-personal best of 15-7 at the adidas Classic and then improved his personal best at the next three meets... cleared 16-0 3/4 at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, then vaulted 16-1 1/4 at the Tyson Invitational, before ending the indoor season with a jump of 16-2 at the Nebraska Tune-Up... opened the outdoor season at the Arizona State Invitational, where he broke his previous outdoor best of 15-7 by four inches with a vault of 15-11... raised his personal best at the Jim Click Shootout when he matched the regional-qualifying standard of 16-6 3/4... ended the year at the NCAA Midwest Regional with a 19th-place jump of 16-1 1/4.

2008 (Freshman)

Franssen redshirted during the indoor and outdoor seasons... competed in three meets unattached during the indoor season, recording a then-personal-best vault of 15-7 at the Holiday Inn Invite... vaulted an outdoor then-personal-best of 15-7 at the Nebraska Invitational.

Before Nebraska (Lincoln HS)

Franssen finished third in the 2007 Nebraska Class A State Track and Field Championships with a personal-best vault of 15-2 under Coach Chris Johnson... tied for fourth in the pole vault (13-6) as a junior at the state meet... also earned two letters in football and three in wrestling during his high school career.

Matt Giesselmann (pronounced GEE-sel-man) competed in six meets during the indoor track and field season... capped the season with a personal-best mark of 59-10 1/4 in the weight throw at the 2011 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships to finish seventh and earn All-Big 12 honors... finished fifth at the Texas A&M Challenge with another mark of 59-10 1/4 in the weight throw... competed in six meets during the outdoor track and field season... finished seventh at the 2011 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 186-11, to take home All-Big 12 accolades in the event... took third at the Nebraska Open with a hammer throw of 184-11.

Giesselmann bettered his previous best of 58-0 1/4 in the weight throw at the Nebraska TuneUp with a toss of 58-2... threw at the Big 12 Indoor Championships for the second straight year and finished ninth (57-8 1/4)... shattered his hammer throw best of 172-0 by over 10 feet at the GPAC Last Chance with a mark of 182-10... finished 10th at the conference outdoor meet with a throw of 179-2.
