The backcountry trip they have been planning years was starGng off terrible.
This trip was a big part of their Gme. They had been planning this trip for five years. Now that they're here it isn't looking like a good idea. The group started asking the pilot tons of quesGons so they could figure out if they can conGnue the trip safely. The pilot wasn’t for sure at first and that made the group upset. ALer an hour of anxiously waiGng the pilot came to them with a smile on his face. He fixed the helicopter and it was ready to go!
They all get in the helicopter and are amazed by how awesome it is. When they get up to alGtude the view is breathtaking and they were all speechless. Travis couldn’t believe it. He was so happy that the trip was actually coming through. As he is looking out the window he sees a spot that looks like an amazing pillow line, so he tells the pilot to land.
Travis gets out of the helicopter and tells his friend to join him. They think it would be a good spot too. They spread out and set up everything they need to. Adam the photographer of the group sets up his camera and thinks of how to get an amazing shot. Travis, Mark, and the other guys are at the top strapping in their bindings. Travis is the first to drop in and he is stoked. He checks with Adam and gives him a signal. Travis drops in and the pillows collapse.
He couldn’t believe it! This was supposed to be the best trip ever but its turning into a disaster. As he gets up out of the snow he looks at his friends and he can tell they are disappointed. Now he feels like this is all his fault. Just when he thought it couldn’t get worse, it started to snow really heavy. The pilot came over to them and said their was a serious storm coming in. He informed them on how dangerous it to fly in this weather, so they strap in their boards and ride to find a safe spot
The group is franGcly trying to stay to together as they ride but the snow was just too heavy. Travis was starGng to get really get nervous for his friends and his life. As they're plowing through the snow, Mark finds a spot he thinks will be safe for the crew. He yells at them to stop but his voice is drowned out by the howling wind. Travis barely hears him and tells the rest of the guys to stop. They hike up to a large tree that will protect them from the storm, but they end up on a cliff
The group is under the tree trying to stay warm. The violent storm is puTng fear in everyone. They don’t know if they will make it out alive. Travis is thinking about his family and wondering if he will ever see them again. With his family in mind he gets up and makes a plan to save everyone. He walks out into the storm in search for firewood. He knows that staying warm is the only way he and his friends can survive.
Travis, all alone, in the middle of a terrible storm, sGll has the strength to find firewood to survive. Just as he starts to shiver because of the freezing temperatures he hears a rumble in the distance. He looks up at the peak to see if he can make out what it is. The snow was too thick for him to see anything. The rumble kept geTng closer and closer. As he thought about what that sound could be, it hit him! It was an avalanche! He saw it coming and started to run as fast as he legs would carry him.
The avalanche hit him like a train. He was immediately surrounded by snow and he couldn’t move. As the force of the snow was throwing him around, he blacked out. His body, buried in snow, lay there moGonless. The storm around him was calming down and the avalanche finally stopped. Sunlight came poking out of the clouds. Travis started to wake up to the sound of a helicopter. He was trying to remember where he was and what happened. When he realized where he was, he started climbing out of the snow.
He got his head out into the open and started to wave down the helicopter. He used all the strength he had leL to try and get its aVenGon. The pilot spoVed him and made his way for a landing. Travis couldn't believe he survived. The chopper landed and his friends jumped out to rescue him. They dragged him into the heli and put him in a seat. They took off and headed back to the resort. Travis's friends told him how they got saved and how they went on a mission to find him. They also told him that even though the trip didn’t go as planned, they sGll had fun.
