R E S I D E N T I A L : GEORGIAN BAY COTTAGE project overview

FLOOR PLAN

The co age aimed to exude a modern architectural statement, therefore moving far away from tradi onal co age homes. The co age is designed to be built on Georgian Bay’sSTATEMENT rocky terrain, therefore the PROBLEM co age is mul -leveled. Space planning was a huge factor in the design process as not only did the spaces need to make absolute sense as a floor plan, but they also had to coinside with the landscape level changes, par cular rooms needed to have the approproate sunlight, and others to obtain op mal views of the Bay. Large architectural sla ed walls are used for support, as well as a screen to create privacy from nieghbours, and make the clients feel as though they own the whole Bay to themselves, crea ng a retreat from society and life. This project aimed towards the architecture aspects of design, focusing on the structureal elements, roof plan, as well as sustainable details.

design The concept for this NEW Strewn ewn Winery was derived from the ideaƟon of the vineyards, and the linear qualiƟes. One aspect of the winery that was a main focuswas the execuƟve tasƟng area, that is reserved for only pre booked wine tasƟng gatherings. This space if used for also demonstraƟons, therefore this is the reason that it with holds its own demonstraƟon kitchen. Also, due to the use of this space, and because it is an “execuƟve” area, chose to place it on the mezzanine level so it was secluded and gave the visitors the feeling of execuƟvity as it is seperate from the rest of the public areas. Also, this space has its own private exterior deck that allows views to the winery to allow the visitors to gain the enƟre wine tasƟng experience.
