The Writing the Code series was created in collaboration with the Career Development Office and The Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Our offices are committed to providing pathways to opportunity for MIT Sloan students as we understand that our talent community is dynamic, but opportunities are not evenly distributed amongst all. The scope of conversations sit at the intersection of career and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, leveraging input from MIT Sloan alumni and the greater business community.

Networking and the Game of Golf

This fall, we hosted the 2nd Annual Networking & the Game of Golf event. The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of more than 60 student golfers, alumni, faculty, the MIT Sloan Office of DEI staff, the CDO team, and volunteers. We doubled last year’s attendance and welcomed some amazing collaborators this year.

Second Chance Hiring

This event connected professionals, students, academics, policymakers, and the greater business community to support the business case for Second Chance Hiring. Second Chance Hiring is the practice of hiring people with prior criminal convictions and arrest records.

MIT Sloan EMBA student Daniel Dart is a leader in Second Chance Hiring and is justice-impacted.

IN MEMORIAM: PREETISH NIJHAWAN, MBA ‘98

Preetish Nijhawan, MBA ‘98

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Preetish Nijhawan. Preetish graduated from the MIT Sloan MBA program in 1998, the same year he co-founded Akamai Technologies.

With an impressive career history in the software and hardware industries, working in engineering, program management, advisory, and leadership roles, Preetish shared his expertise with the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

He most recently served as Managing Director at Cervin Ventures, an early-stage fund investing in entrepreneurs who are disrupting the enterprise application, infrastructure, and tools spaces.

Preetish was a remarkable individual who made a significant impact on the MIT Sloan community as a Sloan Industry Advisor and member of the Americas Executive Board. His commitment to helping students and alumni succeed was truly inspiring. He was always willing to give his time, expertise, and encouragement to Sloanies making career transitions. Preetish was a bright light in the MIT Sloan community, and he will be greatly missed.
