MIT Recreation Enhances ADA Facility Accommodations Since January, 2013, in continued compliance with the ADA, MIT Recreation has

happily increased its efforts in accommodating persons with disabilities who wish to participate in all programs and services offered within. Some of these enhancements include:  All aquatic pools now fully accessible with the addition of three (3) new swim lifts.  All aquatic entry and exit doors are now automatic including Men’s, Women’s & Family locker rooms.  Repaired front Z-Center doors with new automatic operating systems.

FITNESS Get “Spring Break” Ready! Participate in MIT Group Exercise classes to stay motivated without having to plan a workout on your own. If you feel like you are distracted, have little direction and often get bored in the gym, come try out a group exercise class. The social support and instructor-led activity will ensure that you are completing a warm up, cool down and full body stretch in addition to an excellent workout. The variety of classes will help keep your body guessing so you never hit the plateau when it comes to making positive changes in your overall health!

February 22, 11am – 2pm March is Osteoarthritis (OA) Awareness Month!  Osteoarthritis affects 27 million Americans and typically is targeted toward individuals older than 40 years old and affects your joints, hips, hands, knees and lower back.  Exercise and accompanying weight loss are great ways to reduce and manage the pains of osteoarthritis!  So much so, that for every one pound of weight lost, there is a four pound reduction in the load exerted on the knees for each step taken! To help ease your pain, we are offering 1 month for FREE for new members purchasing an annual membership!

Alumni/Wang Shutdown March 23rd – March 30th Shutdown Details:  The Alumni/Wang Center will be closed starting Saturday 3/23 through Sunday 3/31 for its Annual Maintenance Shutdown.

March is for Members!

On a yearly basis MIT Recreation shuts down each aquatic and fitness floor to deep clean, repair and enhance the features of the facility to better serve our patrons in the long run.

Quarter 4 Programs begin the week of March 31st. Email mitrecsports@mit.edu for online credentials if needed. Give the gift of membership this holiday season to a friend or family member.
