BULLETIN 10th Anniversary of the MIE The tenth anniversary of the Maastricht Institute of Entrepreneurship was held at Missouri Valley College April 18-20. Exercise Science Major Receives NSCA Education Program Certification The Missouri Valley College exercise science major has received the education program certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The NSCA is the worldwide authority on strength and conditioning that supports and disseminates researchbased knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness. In order to receive this certification, an institution must submit an application to show that its program meets the NSCA’s requirements. NSCA requirements include offering instruction in the following content: human anatomy; human physiology; exercise science/ physiology; nutrition; essentials of personal training; biomechanics/human movement/kinesiology; exercise
Student and Professor to Present at American Psychological Association Convention Missouri Valley College Master of Arts in Community Counseling Student Sabrina Moussier and Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Jared Bartels worked on the development of a measure of critical thinking. They presented their initial results, Initial validation of an instrument measuring perspectivistic thinking, at the Annual American Psychological Association Convention in Denver in August. The American Psychological Association is the largest professional organization representing psychology in the United States. Fall 2016 | 24
and weight training skills and teaching techniques; exercise testing and client consultation for healthy and special populations; emergency care and legal issues in personal training; practicum in exercise instruction; and psychology/sport psychology. During the three-year-certification period, MVC students are eligible for a discount on the cost of the NSCA-CPT exam, which is the certification for personal training, and the CSCS exam, which is the certification for a strength and conditioning specialist.
