including fishing and swimming Before you reach the turn onto Route UU for the park, you can choose to take a left on Route Z for the alternate route, bypassing Clinton. But don’t make your decision in haste. With the largest town square in Missouri and a variety of excellent restaurants, Clinton is waiting to be explored. Take a left at the intersection in Clinton to jump onto Route 13 south. Continue on Route 13 for about twenty-five miles. Check out the awesome selection of cheese at the Osceola Cheese Company on your way through Osceola. Then turn left onto Route 82 going east. Follow the highway until it intersects with Route 83, and turn left. Route 83 will take you all the way back to Warsaw and Route 7 where you began. A great time to ride this loop is the third week of October during Warsaw’s Heritage Days. Not only will you be able to appreciate the festivities, but also the spectacular Ozark fall colors. The entire loop is surrounded by state wildlife and conservation areas loaded with hiking trails, camping, and scenic views.

Perched high on a bluff, the Truman Dam Visitors Center has a stunning view of the lake and dam as well as a wealth of natural history exhibits. The Truman Lake Loop offers an alternative route to cut this ride into a half day’s trip by crossing the Osage River along Route Z. Beginning in Warsaw, head west on Route 7 toward Clinton. Throughout the ride and especially along Harry S. Truman State Park, a slight detour along Route UU, you’ll see western Ozark landscape: dry, open oak woodlands with bands of rocky prairies that are abundant with wildflowers and native grasses. The park also has a marina and outdoor activities,
