I dedicate this poetry anthology to my loving family for always being there for me.
This poem is one of my favorites because he is very descriptive, detailed words that are both true and speak out to the reader. He is talking about how the world has so many problems and when you drift into dreams it is all forgotten, but as you wake the problems are still there. He hopes that his dreams will come true so that there is no pain and suffering in the world. I believe the author may be struggling in life but there is still hope and when he dreams he can imagine the perfect world. I think this is a really strong and powerful free verse poem and I wish the world was filled with everything in his dream. The author did a significant job on this poem by explaining how and why music represents peoples life and how people cant live without it. In this simple parallelism-writing scheme he writes about how his life is affected and how music can improve and change peoples life. I couldn't agree more with this author because music makes my life and without it I probably couldn't get through the day as the author states. In the line “It is music, that makes me sit in class really relates to me because in class I listen and it is what motivates me and drowns out the distractions. Music brings people together and can change moods, its can lighten a situation and motivate which is why I love it.
I wrote this free poem to show how amazing music is and how it can change the mood of any situation. Music is something I couldn't live with as I listen everyday. Music helps me focus and concentrate on whatever it is i'm working on and almost encourages me. It can change peoples mood and help them view life in a different way which can help people with depression. Music is one of the thing barely anyone hates because there is so many different varieties of it. Each line in this poem is about a different instrument and I use descriptive writing to help the reader picture this poem.
The whistle blows we all arose and froze... as the ball slows on our toes we watch it mow through our foes past the keepers nose!
Aris did a great job with this AAA... rhyming scheme poem and the way he creates tension and builds suspense on each line as we excitedly wait to see what happens in this game. I chose this poem because it completely relates to me, as soccer has always been a huge part of my identity. I play soccer everyday and I enjoy it as my favorite sport. This poem shows how each game is anticipated and how soccer can be many peoples life. I feel how the third line “and froze” is an amazing example of personification because for every shot people freeze and anticipate to see if its a goal or a save. This author shares his passion for the game and I think this creates enthusiasm and shows how people can get so exited over a mere sport.
The topic of this poem is about how each day is repeated and how people can dream to get away from life. I feel that dreams can be an escape from the everyday hardships and suffering that many people around the world are facing. This could reach out to people who are depressed and poor who have to live each day like it’s their last. In my poem, my kireji is shut, which I placed in the first line because it almost cuts of the line, and makes people want to keep reading. This simple haiku is empowering and it shows how dreams can help people escape from sadness and bring them to a happy place with peace. The line at the end “As this dark day ends” means that it is short dark days such as winter and I created this poem in this time because people are more depressed in this tome because of the darkness.
Longboarding is a large part of my identity and in this concrete poem it shows how people can love boarding. I have been longboarding for 4 years now and it feels like I can escape and ride freely without distractions. Many of my friends have longboards and its a fun way to get around and hangout with them. In this poems I used descriptive words to help add to help the reader relate and it brings them in. Longboarding can help people get away from any stress and it can also help people ground themselves. I will always be longboarding and this people helps people see how great it is.
This sonnet about soccer shows how soccer games can be anticipated and exciting. Soccer is the most played sports and it is my favorite because of its fast pace and teamwork. I find that many other sports that don't use teamwork aren't really as interesting and fun because with teams you can make friends and it helps the game become more structured. I used many descriptive words to help create tension and enthusiasm in the poem. In the line “Flying, soaring through the air like a bird I used a synonym to make the poem more interesting and so the reader can picture this. Soccer is a great sport and it will always bring people together.
The vase can be broken, and thrown away. The flowers will soon wither and then decay. Friendship can't be bought, borrowed or stolen. Friendship that is Friendship, is worth its weight in gold. Friendship is only friendship, when it's given away. Won't you be my friend today?
In the poem “Friendship, the topic that the author refers to is how precious friendship is. In this short A.A.B.B rhyme scheme she uses amazing thought out words to rhyme and succeeds at creating emotion. She may be listing off statements about friendship but in the bigger picture I think she is talking about how it should be cherished and remembered. I chose this poem because I believe everyone, including me, needs to remember how important friends are because without them people would become lonely and maybe even depressed. When he states that friendship can be broken like a vase I believe this simile is very powerful because friends can be torn apart easily. People should recognize how important friendship is and how it has affected their lives.
Throughout my poem anthologies, I have displayed many various topics that relate to my identity. Each topic has created a huge impact on my life and has displayed my personality. The topics I will be exploring are sports, dreams and escaping and music. I have always been integrating sports into my everyday life, because I believe it keeps me healthy and athletic. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 and it has become a huge part of my identity. I have met many good friends through soccer and it has changed my personality by giving me confidence. When I play a difficult team, I feel unfazed because soccer has built hope in my teammates and myself. Sports also help me escape and relieve any stress or pressure because I am focusing on something besides negativity. I like to go long boarding or biking because it helps me clear my head and gives me time to think. Music is the one thing that I could not live without. I listen everyday mostly when I am working at school and long boarding after school. Music helps me drown out distractions and helps me focus on certain things like school. listening to music at school really helps me concentrate on my work so I can get it done and I use my class time more efficiently. I find the most amazing thing about music is how it can change peoples lives. Music can give people new perspectives on everyday tasks by relating to how they are feeling. This can help with dark thoughts or it can help people become more confident and this is how music can change a person. The last topic I will be exploring is dreams and escaping. This is one of the most important to me because many people in the world are living with pain and suffering and dreaming is a way to escape from it all. Dreams can be happy and bring hope to people who are suffering which can help them get through each day. It can also change and enlighten peoples perspective on how they are living. In conclusion, each topic is very important to my identity and my personality. I would not be the same without them.
My first name, Isaac, means laughter. This relates to my personality as I like to make people happy and laugh. I really like my name because I have many different nicknames from it because it is very short and is easy to change. Although my name is important, I don't think it symbolizes me and contributes much to my identity. I have always thought that names were just labels and not important. You can be given a name that means laughter or hope but its not your name that represents you, it’s your actions and how you use your name in good or bad that really shows who you are. For example, my middle name, Anthony, is not a very big symbol for me as It means praise and this does not show or explain what I have accomplished in life. I think what you accomplish and achieve in life is more important than the definition or meaning of a name.
My last name, Paccagnan is probably the most important name to me because many people have trouble pronouncing my name and which makes it. This name represents my Italian side and it has been passed on for hundreds of generations, which is another reason why it is important to me. I think my name sounds like Pacman and it has been a nickname for me since I was little because most people could not pronounce it. I do not think this nickname shows my personality because unlike Pacman, I am not running around chasing the same things; I am always exploring and wanting to try new things. Even though my name is very important to me, It is not a large part of my identity and I feel like the nickname for it represents me not for who I am but for just another label which does not show who I am.
All three of my names are very unique and important to me and I would not want to change them. They have become a small part of my identity, as I do not think they are as important as what kind of personality I have and I do not think they would affect it. People can hear my name and automatically remember who and what kind of a person I am, except its not my name that makes them remember, its my actions, personality and what I have achieved.
