It is possible to call Asian Russia “Siberia”. Siberia is a vast array of land with cold weather almost all year round. On the southeastern part lies, known as Lake Baikal the “Pearl of Siberia”. It has a surface area of 31,500 kilometres and is the oldest (25 million years) and deepest (1,637 metres) lake in the world, containing more than 1,700 species of flora and fauna, two-thirds of which can be found nowhere else. UNESCO listed Lake Baikal as a World Heritage Site in 1996. In winter, the surface of the lake will be covered with layers of ice which are so thick that tourists can enjoy the scenery by a sleigh or a snowmobile. Unlike winter, the waters in summer turn to transparently blue. Visitors can enjoy the view of impressive seasonal wildflowers around the shore or hike in the forests, streams and waterfalls there.

เราสามารถเรียกรัสเซียในสวนเอเชียวา “ไซบีเรีย” ก็ไดครับ ไซบีเรียนัน้ เปนดินแดนอันกวางใหญทมี่ อี ากาศ หนาวเย็นเกือบตลอดทัง้ ป และดินแดนทางภาคตะวันออกเฉียงใตนนั้ เปนทีต่ งั้ ของทะเลสาบไบคาล ทีร่ จู กั กันในนาม “ไขมุกแหงไซบีเรีย” โดยมีพื้นที่ผิวน้ำทั้งสิ้น 31,500 กิโลเมตรและเปนทะเลสาบที่มีอายุเกาแกที่สุด (25 ลานป) และมีความลึกที่สุด (1,637 เมตร) ในโลก โดยมีพืชและสัตวกวา 1,700 ชนิดอาศัยอยูในบริเวณนี้ ซึ่งพืชและสัตว จำนวนกวา 2 ใน 3 เปนชนิดที่ไมพบในบริเวณอื่นของโลก องคการยูเนสโกไดขึ้นทะเบียนทะเลสาบไบคาลเปน มรดกโลกในป ค.ศ. 1996 ในชวงฤดูหนาวพื้นผิวดานบนของทะเลสาบจะปกคลุมไปดวยชั้นน้ำแข็งที่มีความหนา มาก จนนักทองเที่ยวสามารถใชรถเลื่อนหรือรถเล็กสำหรับวิ่งบนหิมะในการเที่ยวชมทัศนียภาพได แตเมื่อถึงชวง หนารอน น้ำในทะเลสาบจะเปลี่ยนเปนสีครามใส นักทองเที่ยวสามารถชมทิวทัศนของดอกไมปาที่ผลิดอกสวยสด งดงามตามฤดูกาลบริเวณริมชายฝง หรือเดินลัดเลาะเทีย่ วชมไปตามปาเขา แมนำ้ หรือน้ำตกในบริเวณนัน้ ก็ไดครับ 6|
