MIRRORBALLS - DECEMBER 2010

Following on from the amazing Wig Party in October, this December LOVECHILD, in collaboration with Mirrorballs, is hosting The National AIDS Trust www.nat.org.uk charity event at London Super Club Fire. Marking the event will be the launch of Mirrorballs.tv who will be filming throughout the night and promoting Operation W.R.A.P (WE ROLL AND PLAY) – keep on the lookout for safer sex goodies, throughout the night. The NAT is the UK's leading charity dedicated to transforming society's response to HIV. Their goal is to change the way in which people living with HIV are treated. They believe that these people should be treated as equal citizens with respect, dignity and justice. As well as this they also provide a specialist team to provide an education and understanding of ways in which to protect one’s self and others from HIV infection. In order to help the NAT achieve its vision we need you! Lovechild will give £1 for every undiscounted ticket sold, and will also be taking any extra generous donations on the night...especially from those of you on our V.I.P guest list for which entry is free. In order to make the night that extra special the Lovechild team have sought to put together a spectacular DJ line-up bringing you the best and most promising talent. www.Mirrorballs.tv will be celebrating their launch with Lovechild this month and have amazing treats in store for us such as a specially produced show incorporating : new all-Male group Elixir Burlesque brought to you by renowned Choreographer Marcos White, alongside Lovechild’s regular performers. Special VIP guests, Martin Mazza & Tamas Eszterhazy (Chairperson of www.grandsafeshow.com – Hungarian Safe Sex campaign) will be in attendance and Fire’s new VIP area will be put to full use!

MIRRORBALLS - DECEMBER 2010 DJ & Music Producer Pagano is originally from Italy, but is now based in London, where he is often singled out for being a true innovator. His unique blend of different genres of House and Electronic music have become Pagano's trademark sound and has caught the attention of partygoers and music lovers the world over. Pagano’s passion for electronic music is as close to an obsession as it can get: Pagano is a real music geek! His ability to connect with the crowd is unmatched because Pagano main aim is to share the music he likes with like-minded people". Pagano has played extensively, here at home in the UK and all over the world. We caught up with him for a quick chat before his set at the Lovechild MIRRORBALLS Fundraiser party on 11th December.

MB: When did you first know you wanted to be a club DJ? P: "All I can say is that while other 8 years old kids wanted Hot Wheels miniature cars to play with, I was asking my parents to buy me the latest Italo-Disco and Synth-Pop releases from Den Harrow, Raf, Novecento Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and the likes. I started putting cassettes together for my classmates’ birthday parties, but I was mixing these tunes I liked with the songs from the cartoons my young friends liked: I learnt quite a lot at a young age, that's why a good DJ always needs to look at the dancefloor…!" MB: Which are the gigs you have done one which you are most proud? are the three gigs that you have done that you were most proud of? P: ”Approximately four or five years ago I got booked to play an event at Privilege in Ibiza alongside Benny Benassi, Mario Piu’ and other Italian producers. The promoters put together a line-up of the DJs they considered the best Italian exports at the time and it felt great to be included. Of course, to say the event was full of loud Italians wearing sunglasses is an understatement! It was great to be selected to play at Space as the DJ representing Italy at the Miami Winter Party Festival in 2007. I also really enjoyed my DJ set on the main floor at the last ever Trade at Turnmills: many regard Trade at Turnmills as the London nineties version of NY’s Studio 54. So to be part of the closing party line-up made me very proud. Playing at Rapido and La Demence in Europe is also lot of fun: those two are probably the best events in continental Europe. My residency at Megawoof! is great too, it draws such a friendly crowd." MB: How did you get into playing in the London scene and at which clubs do you most like playing? P: "I used to only play the straight scene thanks to the success of my releases on Mauro Picotto’s BXR and Nukleuz labels. But when Heaven changed its music policy and Wayne G left, before the G-A-Y takeover, two friends of mine named Santo and Renato who were close to Heaven’s management at the time, suggested my name to Gavin Nicholls and David Inches. After a couple of gigs Gavin and David offered me the Saturday night residency. The Heaven residency represented a great opportunity to show what I was capable of and helped me to develop my career further. I'm lucky in the fact that I only play at clubs that I like, so when you see me DJ'ing at Egg, BarCode, Megawoof, Lovechild and Matinee, I'm enjoying it as much as the clubbers." MB: How would you describe your music style? P: "I am generally not really keen on labelling music styles. An enthusiastic clubber once told me that my music style was quite original and unique for London. So I guess my music style is best described as the Pagano sound which I tend to see as daring, sexy, energetic, percussive, electronic and cutting-edge".

MIRRORBALLS 2010 MIRRORBALLS -- SEPTEMBER DECEMBER 2010

Nick Wolanski

Ocupation: Dj / model / porn star Tell us how manage to do all these occupations as one person? My modelling and work in the adult industry fits in pretty well with my DJing, most gigs are at night so I can continue to work as normal during my days. But I would say I have started to focus more on my music especially producing tracks now Tell us how was it playing first time as DJ and where was it My first gig ever in London was at Heaven nightclub which is where a couple of highly established DJs started to play. It was an amazing experience and after I played to around 2,000 people on the main floor after 6 weeks being in the smaller room it really gave me confidence in myself as a DJ and has made playing in other clubs since a lot easier and less nerve racking. Playing Pacha for the first time was also incredible, it’s always been one of my favourite club brands and I can only hope after playing in London I get a chance to play at some of the biggest pacha's in the world especially Ibiza, Egypt and New York City. when was the dream born of being fitness model I started working out when I was 16. I was skinny when I was at school, never picked on or anything like that, but I just didn’t like being skinny. I wanted something in my life that was incredibly challenging, which would work me hard and teach me respect, so for me working out did, and still does, tick all these boxes. why did workouting have such significant on you aa artist and athelet Working out makes me happy. If I’m stressed out or worried about something, going to the gym silences my mind. I concentrate on working out and somehow the things I was worrying about automatically get fixed. I’ll come out the gym and I’ll know what to do – it sorts my head out. how sucessfull were you as bodybuilder When I was 18 and 19 I won the Junior Mr. Scotland contest, I came second in the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation final, and I fought in Edinburgh’s first Cage Kombat competition. All this was just two years after I started working out. I then decided I wanted to compete in the American scene, so I flew to Los Angeles to compete in Musclemania. There were so many amazing bodies, so much media coverage, so many model companies recruiting, personal trainers and fitness models – you name it, they were there. So that’s how I got into modelling.

MIRRORBALLS - DECEMBER 2010 After having achieved a successful carer in fitness. How did burst your career as DJ in the gay scene . I don’t know if image is that important but I’d say it always helps in any kind of environment. I think firstly a DJ should have musical ability above all else but having a good image is an extra attraction to a crowd and is definitely helping me in the scene as it is pretty unusual and I guess kinda cool. What or who inspired you in fitness training? Guys out there whose physiques I admire include Frank Zane and Arnold Schwarzeneg- ger. Frank wasn’t monstrously bulky – he was very natural looking, quite like myself. And ob- viously Arnold because of what he’s achieved from his bodybuilding.

MIRRORBALLS - DECEMBER 2010

What is TTD It’s certainly stand for something, but I can’t possibly tell you or I would have to kill you LOL. Anyway it’s far more fun leaving it to speculation, and we have certainly heard some funny ideas so far! How did the idea of TTD come about? TTD is not a new idea is only a forgotten idea. I saw a gap in the market and a huge demand for a T Dance in London. I therefore gathered a team of experienced people and decided to work on the TTD LONDON project. Why did you chose Sunday to host TTD We like to think our crowd will make a conscious effort to put TTD in the diary that weekend rather than stumble upon it because it's the only thing on 'round the corner from the last club they partied at'. TTD is all about a discerning music policy, the cool, interactive crowd and of course the stunning venue, key ingredients that so often are overlooked. We hope our customers are inspired and surprised by the energy in the club, that will have hopefully a totally different experience at TTD to any other club around, and that they come back on the first Sunday of every month for more of the same! Location and venue of the TTD We actually spent quite a bit of time looking for the right venue, as we wanted it to be very central but also feel uber cool. You can’t get more central than Leicester Sq, and the minute we set foot in this amazing space we just knew it was right. It has a great New York Industrial feel about it, yet also has fantastic facilities, and the staff have been Why should people come to TTD We like to think our crowd will make a conscious effort to put TTD in the diary that weekend rather than stumble upon it because it's the only thing on 'round the corner from the last club they partied at'.
