Bayer Misleads Doctors About Mirena’s Serious Health Risks Mirena and other forms of intrauterine devices (IUDs) comprise a type of birth controls which are inserted into a woman’s uterus to prevent the sperm from uniting with the egg, medical experts say. It may be used for as long as five long years. However, as many as half of the medical professionals in the United States seemed to be misinformed about the potential health risks caused by Mirena, according to a new study. The research involves doctors, nurses, midwives and doctor’s assistants.
Bayer Pharmaceuticals is believed to have exerted influence in the opinion of some doctors by using Internet marketing but failed to disclose its potential serious side effects.
