The Los Angeles River has great potential. At this point, the La River needs a simple branding that will outlast the concrete that is slowly disappearing. Many do not know the current state of the river and all it has to offer as a great recreational facility and gathering place.

VALUES

The river is constantly changing and the sign-age as well as activities available will change as well. As the seasons change, some activities will be more popular and as the river changes more opportunities will present themselves.

Current Signage

The current experience visiting the La River is not unique. There are standard signs that give no feeling of being in a recreational area. SIGN CONSIDERATIONS

All the signage looks temporary. The new informational signs about the river are no better. Instead of looking fresh and modern, they look dated and old.

SIMPLE RECYCLED SIGNAGE MONUMENT SIGNS

Monument signs are meant to give you a feel for the La River. Using recycled materials the signs are transparent and meant to be enjoyed as a resting place as well as a way to see through to the river behind.

The bike path is perfect for the serious athlete, the weekend warrior, or a leisurely ride. Along the route will be outlets for cyclists including repair stations.

The River is a daunting walk, although if there are interesting outlets throughout, people would want to try and travel the length of the river over a few visits!

BRINGING ARTISTS TOGETHER PANEL PROJECT

Each panel can be purchased to add to the ongoing mural that will stretch all the way from the beginning of the river to the end. The goal is to have each panel blend into the next, creating a long continuous image.

Corporations can advertise on the LA River by purchasing as many panels as they need. The requirements for advertising on the river is that the ad needs to be created by a local artist and reflect the culture of the area.

The LA River still has a ways to go, but the progress so far is positive. The most important feature of the river is that it is bringing communities together.
