Dear Editor I would like to say a sincere thank you to both John and Verena Stead for making my 100th birthday so special with their lovely card. Kathleen Ovenden Dear Editor My husband and I have been residents in Minster for the last 30 years and have seen how much Minster has transformed, the good and the bad. But the latest notice of planning application to build 3 single dwellings to house 4 persons with 16 car parking spaces at the Old Car Park near St Mary’s Road has to be Thanet District Councils worst decision to date. The costs involved in turning the Old Car Park into a new development must be considerable and at a time when Council budgets have supposedly been reduced it seems ludicrous that such an application has been passed. The question has to be asked is this the best way to spend the good tax paying people of Minster money? In my opinion the money should be spent on the existing Car Park, increasing parking for local residents and commuters to Minster C of E Primary School, which I would expect might help reduce the traffic congestion that currently envelopes most of Minster during peak periods. I would ask readers to look at the proposed drawings and our objection letter (download from here www.minstermatters.org.uk/docs/stmarysrd.pdf note it is 39 pages long) and decide if they really want the good people of Minster's money paying for a new development that will only house 4 persons, rather than updating the School and or other public facilities within the village.
