We shape our buildings, and afterwards our buildings shape us. The environment plays a crucial role in our experiences, our memories, and our identities. If autobiographical memories make up our identities, then the environments we inhabit shape who we are.

I want to pursue architectural research in areas of material computation, adaptive architecture, and digital fabrication. Two of the most promising technologies are 3D printing and rapid assembly via robotics for the manufacture of individual and continuous component parts. Together, these technologies are geared towards becoming indispensable tools for nonlinear manufacturing and design, automated building construction, as well as complex form-making..

Architecture endows a sense of nature.

01 HIDDEN PARADISE The Flamingo Attraction is Key Driver and a Mountain-Shaped Space is Designed to Allow Different Activities to Occure.

The design of new viewing tower attempts to rethink the way we observe flamingos. To allow observers to reach a closer distance without disturbing flamingos' habitat. According to that flamingos live by water, the new observation tower provides a roof with a pool of water to attract and allow flimangos to rest upon. The overall design is to integrate the observation tower into the environment of the entire protected area, retaining the original ecological charm.

Pay attention to the hot climatic condition of Abu Dhabi is also considered in the design of the overal viewing tower; with the extreme sun light and heat temperature in this region of the world. According to the really unique habit that flamingos live by the water, the new flamingos observation tower actually provides a new roof with a pool full of nature water to attract and allow flimangos to rest upon the roof.While flamingo attraction is the key driver of this design, a

mountain-shaped hidden space is designed to allow for various activities to occure. The overall design is intended to integrate the tower into the environment of the entire protected area, retaining the original ecological charm.

Visitors can stand, sit, or even lie down and feel the natural space and surroudning landscape through the compression of a horizontal roof framed view.

02 ALMOST HOME The Definition of Refugee Camps is No Longer a Temporary Building. It Carries Education and Life of a Generation.

The design is to bring more snese of home to the refugees. The large slope roof is intended to give the refugees a sense of belonging. Inside big roofs, scissor stairs are applied to create the atmosphere where people find their own way home and meet their neighbors. Each room for living is designed with individual doors and balconies to give private space.

Governments should stop thinking refugee camps as temporary places.

The average stay time today in a refugee camp is about 17 years. That's a generation.

Number of refugee in Sryria has risen to 5.6 milllion by November 2018.

Almost half(48%) of the Syrian refugees are children who've lost everything.

When you arrive at a camp you have basically been stripped naked and lost everything that has to do with your identity, so a sign of settling and a sense of identity is vital.

There are two large scissor stairs inside which set symmetrically on both sides of the core tube which contains normal vertical transport including stairs and an elevator. Interestingly, people could go upstairs by the long and smooth scissor stairs, on which they will pass the living rooms constantly and see other residents on the way. Also, the rooms are

elevated according to the slope of the scissor stairs to make it convenient for people to enter and drop by each other so that they would feel like going back to their own house and living with their neighbors.

Every room is designed to have windows and a balcony on the other side beneath the outside big roof, and the balconies along the same direction of the middle scissor

stairs are also connected with several stairs respectively to encourage communcation and visiting.

The top mosque provides a religious place for Syrian refugees.

The relaxed atmosphere of the scissor stairs eases the grief of the refugees.

The normal form of local house, sloping roof, to remind poeple of homes. And the gathering of 3 sloping roof buildings with different sloping scale, providing a view of collective houses, also a sense of home and a feeling of living together. Inside the big roof, scissor stairs are applied to create the atmosphere

when people find their own way home and meet their their neighbors and friends. Each room for living is designed with individual doors and balconies to give privacy and personal space.

03 VITALITY GENERATOR The Experimental Design Uses a Large Curtain Inside the Room to Weak the Gap Between Private and Public Spaces.

When young people return the rental house, they choose to close the door and not communicate with outside world, resulting in more and more serious loneliness. The design uses a large curtain to weaken the gap between private and public spaces and a number of outdoor platforms to create the possibility of communication for young people.

In 1980s, people in courtyards lived harmony with each other.

Commonly communications in the central yard also establishes a good trust relationship so that they replace the door with curtains. So the design combines the curtain with cental social spaces inside.

Tan Hualin's environment is messy with low rents.

However, it is close to the city center, which is attracting to young people. Design will not break the atmosphere

inherent. Original bricks will be important elements, which is the unique feature of it.

The similarity of three different rental space is all the interiors have large curtains to separate the private and public boundaries.Each space has one or two

balconies that connect with outside, increasing the comfort of living with another social place.

center of the house. Inside the curtains, it is an indoor social place.

An open curtain creates the possibility of infinite space boundaries, with a amount of grey space, blurring the boundaries of space while maintaining a

good balance. Inside the curtains, it is an indoor social place for residents to meet and talk.

living on different levels will have the possibility of encounters and communication.

04 CITY DIGESTER Reconstruced Waste Gas Tank into Garbage Disposal Center with Urban Mult-Purpose Garden.

For the large-scale site, with the plug-in city theory, giant structures are inserted into functional blocks to solve the problem of intensive lack of public space in the surrounding residential areas; gas tanks are used to solve problems of shared waste products in Shanghai. The industrial process in the tank and the frame system outside the tank are unified to serve the surrounding area.

To solve the garbage of shared products by changing the waste gas tanks into recycling center, and cooperate with the exhibition and green park.

Through the megastructures and plug-in theory, different functions are provided to facilitate citizens' life and creat lots of social space which can bring relax and comfor for people around, with replaceable units plugged in flexibly.

The urban-scale multi-functional system provided by giant frames is in harmony with the wasted gas tank which reconstructed into factories for recycle discarded shared products, exhibition hall and the green space. The green

plants in the giant structure improve the environment of the entire location, and insert various functional units into the giant structure, providing a space for residents around to relax and make people move from the busy life.

05 NOAH'S ARK The Foldable Multifunctional Marine Shelter Can Change into Social Space and Offshore Planting Area in Daily Time.

The existing shelters are far from the seafront where disasters occur frequently, and there is not enough land to build shelters. The marine shelters are designed and divided into two modules. The first module is to weaken the waves and bring economic benefits by aquaculture in normal times. The other module is a folding shelter, which provides public space for local residents.

For the northern lakeside area of New Orleans, systematic land use analysis was carried out in 3 units:lake pontchartrain, levee system and the type of land use. Based on these, the placement of modules on the lake surface is derived.

When the disaster comes, the farming modules can slows waves from Puncak Lake and the refuge modules start to provide protection for the escape route is planned with the original road network.
