Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Situation My friend’s birthday is coming up soon and I don’t have much money to buy them a present with. I have noticed that their desk in their bedroom is a terrible mess. They have pens, pencils and rulers everywhere. I have decided to make them a desk tidy using the design and technology workshop.

Interview client What material will be good enough for making a desk tidy? Wood will be good for a desk tidy because its stronger than other materials such as plastic. What color will look nice to it? I think it depends on the color of their room. Its not going to be nice if the color is too strong. What shape will it be easy to use? Square, because its simple and we can make it stylish if we could. What kind of style will it be comfortable to use? A simple style. How big do you want it to be? As big as a cup. Mitre joint

A very simple joint but it is also very weak. They tend to be used for making picture frames.

Mitre joints are often used to produce the corners of picture frames. The mitre needs to be cut at a 45 degree angle.
