Meryl Streep COURAGE AGAINST CANCER In 1976, Meryl Streep met her first great love, Godfather actor John Cazale, when the pair costarred in director Joe Papp’s Shakespeare in the Park production. Their romance quickly escalated, with Meryl moving into his New York apartment. But just a year later, her world fell apart when John was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.
