FOUNDERS ROOM AND JILL DAHLIN COURTYARD The Founders Room, located off of El Río (the central “spine” of the museum) and across from the Music Theater, provides a versatile place to hold receptions, business meetings, presentations, seated dinners, and luncheons. The Founders Room features two high-definition television monitors and a butler’s pantry that provides ease of access for catering; it is uniquely laid out with optimum lighting and sound capabilities. This space is ideal for events in conjunction with the Music Theater. Adjacent to the Founders Room, the Jill Dahlin Courtyard offers event guests an intimate outdoor setting while featuring natural seating elements and a serene water fountain. The north end of El Río is the connection between both spaces and is the perfect addition to the pair as a reception space for larger social events. The Founders Room, Jill Dahlin Courtyard, and North El Río may be reserved individually or packaged together to create a natural flow to accommodate larger groups.

EL RÍO This magnificent 450 ft.-long space is a flowing riverlike corridor that creates the “spine” of the museum. It links the central atrium to the interior galleries and offers changing views of the various ground-floor sections. From the inside, diffused daylight illuminates the galleries and spaces through a series of giant windows and skylights; at night, the windows glow and animate the building from the outside in an abstract pattern much like piano keys. While often coupled with private gallery access, any combination of the sections of El Río can be designed to create a memorable experience for event guests. El Río is a versatile space with setup options available for both receptions and seated dinners.

MAIN COURTYARD This beautiful entrance courtyard features desert plantings and arroyo environments to create a serene and welcoming oasis for event guests. Natural seating elements and water features add a calm appeal for any daytime or evening event. The sunset backdrop of the space forms a perfect ambience at dusk. The rotating bronze sculpture of blended instrumental forms, titled â€œPhoenix,â€? serves as a distinguished focal point of any event setup, including receptions, seated functions, live performances, cultural celebrations, fashion shows, wine tastings, and more.

MUSIC THEATER: FRIENDS SUITE The Friends Suite is a pleasant and inviting space nestled next to the MIM Music Theater and connected through an internal door to the Green Room. Often used for artist meet-and-greet events, this is a prime location to host VIP guests. Additional features include a flat-screen monitor that displays cable television and a live feed to the stage and skylights that create a bright and natural environment.

MANUEL VILLALOBOS TERRACE This outdoor setting is perfect for small receptions and intimate gatherings. The space offers a beautiful sunset view overlooking the mountains of southeast Phoenix. The patio is a lovely outdoor extension of the upper-level Geographic Galleries and is the perfect complement to a tour element of your event.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES MIM provides an on-site catering company that will ensure flawless food and beverage service at your event. Our kitchen philosophy is simple. We cook from scratch using fresh, authentic ingredients. We start with food in its simplest, most natural form. We have no corporate recipes. Our freezers are small, and our deliveries of fresh, seasonal produce and whole foods are big. We care about our guests. By its nature, the act of feeding people is an intimate one—or at least it should be. We care about what you like, and we also care about your health. We know which cooking techniques preserve flavor and nutrition to produce healthy, delicious dishes. Our global cuisine is crafted through hands-on trainings by chefs who grew up eating a particular cuisine. The flavors are vibrant, and they are authentic. Howard Seftel, former restaurant critic for the Arizona Republic, gave MIM’s food offering a 4-star rating: “There is real culinary sensibility at work here. . . . The ingredients are high quality, often organic, and locally sourced . . . everything is very well crafted.” Hosting a successful event at MIM is assured with the quality and convenience of MIM’s fullservice catering kitchen and culinary team.
GALLERY ACCESS AND TOURS Self-guided tours are available for event guests at standard admission prices during regular museum hours. Private gallery viewing rates apply after museum hours. To enhance the educational experience of your event, guided group tours of the galleries led by trained and knowledgeable special event guides may be available upon request.
