Friends of Art celebrates the 125th anniversary of the Milwaukee Art Museum at the annual Bal du Lac.
Lakefront Festival of Art, sponsored by the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. The festival in 1963 hosted 24,000 visitors. In 2012, nearly 30,000 people attended.

1980 Milwaukee Art Center changes its name to Milwaukee Art Museum, acknowledging the evolving direction of the institution to emphasize its collections.
2001 The bold Quadracci Pavilion opens and is adopted as an icon of Milwaukee. The Santiago Calatrava-designed treasure brings the Museum’s size to 341,000 square feet for its 400,000 or so annual visitors.
