Charles Dickens, one of the greatest writers in the history of the English language, was also a performer on the London stage and in his day was the most famous theatrical interpreter of his own stories and characters. David Houston now offers three readings from Original Dickens adaptations for acting: “Boots at the Holly Tree Inn,” a delightful tale of two 7-year olds who run away to be married and are aided by a gardener along the way; “Sikes and Nancy,” the amazingly chilling and exquisitely written murder scenes from Oliver Twist; and “Doctor Marigold,” an unforgettable, funny and very touching novelette about an itinerant salesman and his deaf and dumb adopted daughter.
