CHAKRA Health Basics C

hakra is the Sanskrit word for spinning wheel. The human body has seven energy centers situated around the spine (Sushumna). Each chakra vibrates at its own frequency in a circular pattern like ripples in a pond. Blocks to energy flow in any Chakra have physiological or psychological effects in the body. Each chakra has special functions but functions in systems just like the organs. Imbalances contribute to conditions such as excessive inflammation or overactive stress hormones and can lead to physical and mental manifestations of poor health. The Seven main chakras are: Root Chakra–survival, security, energy, trust and power to achieve. Associated with skeleton, legs, bones, spine and large intestine. Sacral Chakra–feelings, self-awareness, self-love and creativity. Associated with the kidneys, bladder, sexual organs and the reproductive system. Solar Plexus Chakra–personality, self-respect and self-confidence. Associated with the digestive system, small intestine, skin and nervous system. Heart Chakra–love, compassion, sharing and forgiveness. Associated with the heart, chest, lungs, arms, hands and circulation. Throat Chakra–creative self-expression, communication and inspiration. Associated with the throat, neck, nose, mouth and teeth. Third Eye Chakra–intuition, understanding, insight and realization. Associated with the eyes, ears, base of skull and nervous system. Crown Chakra–knowing, wholeness, perfection, enlightenment and unity. Associated with the upper skull and skin. Chakras can be brought into balance through yogic practices such as asanas, meditation and sound to improve physical and mental health and increase internal bliss. Medicine for Mother Earth

andra Ingerman, author of “Medicine for the Earth: How to Transform Personal and Environmental Toxins,” studied alternative methods of reversing pollution for 20 years and spoke about this spiritual practice at the United Nations on July 27, 2006. “Using these principals in ceremony,” she stated, “has been scientifically proven to change polluted water back to a more neutral state.” These same principals were used in 2004 in a heart study at the University of Michigan. Patients who continued to use this daily practice are doing better than those who have not been exposed to these techniques. A Medicine For The Earth gathering teaches ways to embody the divine and be fully present with it. Participants learn to move beyond their physical form, connect with “divinity,” and bring that power through their very being. They radiate this energy throughout their bodies, out to the earth and to those around them, by transmuting disharmony and bringing it back into its natural state of coherency. These skills enhance all spiritual or religious practices. Ingerman says, “When we apply these principles and spiritual practices to our lives, the focus is not ‘what we are doing’ but ‘who we are’ that changes the world.” For more information, please go to, email Karen@KarenRiceKing. com or call Karen at 303.665.0175
