LITURGY OF THE WORD

(Sit) 1 Colossians 3:12-17

FIRST READING

A reading from the letter of Paul to the Colossians Because you are God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves

with

heartfelt

mercy,

with

kindness,

humility,

meekness, and patience. Bear with one another; forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. Over all these virtues put on love, which binds the rest together and makes them perfect. Christ's peace must reign in your hearts, since as members of the one body you have been called to that peace. Dedicate yourselves to thankfulness. Let the word of Christ, rich as it is, dwell in you. In wisdom made perfect, instruct and admonish one another. Sing gratefully to God from your hearts in psalms, hymns, and inspired songs. Whatever you do, whether in speech or in action, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father through him. This is the word of the Lord.

Ali:

Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM ALLELUIA

(Stand)

Alleluia, Alleluia! God is love; Let us love one another as he has loved us. Alleluia.

GOSPEL Fr. Henry:

The Lord be with you.

All:

And also with you.

Fr. Henry:

A reading from the Gospel according to John.

(15:12-17) All:

Glory to you, Lord.

Fr. Henry:

Jesus said, "This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you. A man can have no greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.

You are my friends, if you do what I

command you.

I shall not call you servants any

more, because a servant does not know his

master's business; I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.

You did not choose me, no, I

chose you; and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last; and then the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.

What I command you is to love one

another."

This is the Gospel of the Lord. All:

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

All:

Our Father in heaven, Holy be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, Forgive us our si ns, as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not bring us to the test but deliver us from evil.
