About “Currently a Computer Science Major

Me

Kyle J Niersbach Hello, my name is Kyle Niersbach. I am currently a Computer Science major. This is my Junior year, but I started my college career at Columbia College Chicago. I transfered to Saint Xavier University after my first semester Freshman year. I left because I wanted to change my major to Computer Science and obtain a job where I did not have to worry about where my next meal will be coming from. I am very happy with the switch of majors but the school choice could have been better. There were many options of where I could have chose to go and I really messed up and picked the wrong one. The school has a very outdated feel to it. Walking down a hallway makes me feel like I’m in a church.

I have very minimal experience in any art forms. I have taken one art class in my entire academic life. I have made two ceramic sculptures and have done a couple of works with paint, but nothing worth saving. I am at the beginner level of all art skills but hope to improve. I most likely will never take another art class. I am just trying to complete my fine arts general education requirment. My art is not very good, but I am proud of what I have accomplished.

My Friend “Vertical lines etched with the crossing horizontal lines.

T

his week our assignment was to create the shape of an object we had in front of us while only drawing consecutive lines one hundred times. We accomplished this by using the program Adobe Illustrator. We had to use a Macintosh computer in the Visual art Center computer lab. To actually get we used the color selector to change the color of our lines to help show the auidence what the object was. I used the paintbrush tool to draw my lines. I went with the idea of a bottle, because I wanted to see how the vertical lines etched with the crossing horizontal lines. I think the concept of what it is can be reconginzed with a lot less lines. I think that having this many lines makes this drawing rushed and messy. However, this is one of my very first projects in this class and could not ask for more from me.

I used the paintbrush tool to draw my lines. I decided to draw a dress show for one of my five drawings. At first I thought this would be rather difficult, but I believe this to be the most accurate of any of my drawings. I used brown vertical lines varying in height to represent the upper part of the shoe where your foot stays. I then used horizontal black line to try and show the audience that this was the rubber sole of the shoe. This is a simple background so the shoe stands out. I used brown lines to represent the leather half of the shoe and the black lines are for the rubber sole.

I thought the mug would be a good counter to the other objects I had previously drawn.

Reign of Tears on My Guitar When I saw how this effect played wih the lines, I instantly thought about how much it lookd like rain. It has a very gloomy vibe to it. I grabbed inspiration for this when I saw how my guitar was sitting on my lap. Music is a large part of my life. That is why I have chose to use this image for my illustration. I hope you get as much from it as I have.

Breakfast at Jeff’s I recieved my insperation for the title of this peice sitting in class. The tea cup just reminds of breakfast. Usually I do not eat breakfast however, when I was at my friend Jeff’s house, I was bombarded with different options for what I could have to eat. This was a strange new world to me. I enjoy looking at this work. It reminds me of sitting around and just having a great morning with coffee and friends.

It’s Not the Size...

It’s How You Use It

I came to the inspiration for this peice when I wasrunning out of ideas on what I can draw. I saw the beam of light hit the mouse like it was choosen by God. I thought the color choice was exactly what I was looking for. I think the white relays the message of a strong highlight very well.

Wine It’s What’s for Dinner

ooking at this page, I think of a candle lit dinner, sitting after the main course just sitting back and drinking some coffee. The coffee cup really sells this image to me. I purposesly made the wine bottle extend past the page, to try and capture the size difference between the bottle and the cup.
