SECTION 1

The challenge of this project was the use of an only constructive syntax as an element that generates space, brand identity and functional compositive scheme. A tridimensional mesh, which adapts to the interior shape, is used to create furniture and stands. The mesh’s material is translucent polycarbonate with an interior led flex RGB. This illumination will be turned on and regulated according to a program and to the switching by consumers’ footsteps.

ASSEMBLY In collaboration with an engineer team, who designed a chassis for a self-sufficient and programmable vehicle, its casing is designed. The vehicle will drive free (according to an automatic program) by the University Campus of UPV. Two basic components are designed: the first one is the sitting piece, whose intention is to be and appear the most comfortable as possible; the second one is the exterior skin, which is made of exterior slats. This second element serves as protection as transformable image of the vehicle.

LEYENDA GENERAL

The first thing was to understand books like dreams, a kind of infinite fractions without limits or shapes. In an extrapolation to the real space, the bookshop is understood as a place where these dreams turn into a cell which is adapted to the environment, in this case the box that marks out the location. A continuous bookshelf is the cell so that the dreams will invade the space. According to the previously explained genesis, the

EXTERIOR VIEW (A) Costilla de madera laminada encolada homogénea de especies abeto, pino y alerce. La sección será de 250x80 mm. (B) Perfil de madera laminada de igual naturaleza que la de la costilla para fijación del textil de sección 50x80 mm. Se utilizará tornillería para la fijación del perfil y el textil a la cuaderna. (C) Membrana textil translúcida de tejido poliéster y recubrimiento de PVC. (D) El textil se doblará en su perímetro y se colocará unas anillas metálicas para facilitar la fijación a las costillas estructurales. (E) Uniones entre tableros de las costillas machihembradas y posterior refuerzo mediante pernos. (F) Apoyo móvil de costilla mediante mecanismo rodado. Permite el libre movimiento y posterior fijación de la cuaderna en la dirección Y. (G) Carril guía de movimiento de costillas. TRANSFORMATION

GENERAL AXONOMETRY

The aim was to create a transportable pavilion which allows the celebration of expositions, conferences or similar uses in its interior. A first premise imposed by ourselves was that it was transformable and that transformation did not only influence the pavilion, rather its own change caused another change in the environment. The pavilion is composed by two elements: seventeen ribs create the shape and the interior space from their movement, repetition and different height; and a textile skin make the closure function, that allows an easy assembly, disassembly and transport.

Each planter is divided in two zones: one situated on the north side, which receives more than 6 sun hours daily; the other, on the south side, receives less than 6 hours of direct sun light. On the sunnier side vegetables are grown, while plants and aromatic herbs are grown on the less sunny side.

The purpose was to turn a dead end street, used as a “free” parking place, into an urban garden for neighbors. The place didn’t have any emotionally interesting element. Therefore, I decided to transform it in a public urban garden, so that green gives the people happiness as well as a social interaction between neighbors. The goal was to change a residual space by another really lively.

It is a conference center located in a rural environment near Benicássim town. When studying the topography, a small mountain that dominates the place is detected. I decided to create a dialogue with the mountain continuing its slope until burying part of the buildings, this way a new garden-slope which takes us to the main circulation axis appears. The area borders with a national road with important traffic. To isolate it and define the interior space, a big park building is located over the terrain, unlike the rest of buildings. This building makes a barrier and defines an entrance frame.

SECTION DETAIL The assignment is to design a gate and define the entrance hall of a shop. The gate had to allow the air flow, since the air conditioning was in the hall. The concept is to create a continuous hole surface, far from being the usual perception of a gate. In this way PVC foam is used and a hole pattern of plastic surface is drawn by a milling machine. These holes allow the vision through them and form a poetic filter of light.

The hall shop is a previous space between the street and the interior shop. This area is the shop space where different activities, like presentations, exhibition or expositions will be celebrated. A black interior box will be an emotional instrument that moves away the exterior to the consumer, while a ceiling formed by a circular surface of backlit polycarbonate will be the instrument used to adapt the hall for the desired activity.

The competition concept was to design a social center to meet the needs of Nou Moles neighborhood, located in the northwest of Valencia. The program requirements were: Activities Center for Elderly and Social Center. The former is situated on the ground and first floor, and the latter is on the second and third floor. Both of them are totally independent, therefore the whole building is understood like a twoin-one. The social center, oasis of urban jungle, closes in itself in search of increasing the users’ relations.

The plot area is 513.35 sqm and has a totally plane topography. The only requirement given by the owner was that the program was in only one level. To achieve this and comply with the local planning regulations, all needs are condensed around the house’s gravity center, with the kitchen exception, linked to the dining room and the exterior terrace. In this way we make the most of the room area of every space, minimizing the area occupied by the interior connections.

The great challenge was to discover how to do the best apartments for a building located in a long plot (20 m long and 12 m wide) between two dividing walls; other rules were established by local planning regulations and owner’s desires. In order to comply with these rules, the building is conceptually asymmetrical; the east side is composed by one level apartment while the west side is formed by duplex apartments. In this way the east apartments optimize the wide plot and the west apartments optimize the building height. Finally both sides have different apartments but they give the users the same quality of life.

The hotel, far from its static usual state, is turned into an itinerant object. In this way an exchange of roles is produced: the hotel becomes the visitor and the occupant is who takes it in his usual environment. That is interesting because it is a space whose purpose is to host multidisciplinary artists who can live in a place suitable to create and exchange synergies for a month. Basic and transportable modules and their combinations are the source of different spaces.

“I want a kitchen that has a home soul.” This was Ana’s most important desire. The old kitchen operated as an independent and isolated element from the rest. In order to avoid this isolation, the home had to be introduced in the kitchen. This results in two different elements with a continue dialogue that improve the synergy between both of them. The kitchen is the front of the scene where the main element, the stove, is located in the center. The material warmth of the home adjusts the emotional sense level of the kitchen.
