Bailli de Provence Rosé NV (France): The varietal composition is 20% Syrah with the balance split between Grenache and Cinsault. It is medium-bodied, with no excessive alcohol, just pure fruit, with good balancing acidity. This type of wine fits in almost any setting, from casual sipping to hors d’oeuvre, antipasti and tapas. REG: $11.99 SALE: $9.99

Domaine Wachau Gruner Veltliner 2010 (Austria): This is quintessential Gruner Veltliner with slightly herbal aromatics that segue into white pepper and hints of tropical fruit. It is dry and crisp, mediumbodied, and it has an enticingly long finish. It pairs well with schnitzels and wursts, but also with seafood and cheeses. REG: $15.99 SALE: $13.99

Potel Pouilly-Fussie 2010 (France): This is 100% Chardonnay from the Burgundy sub-district of Maconnais. It has mineral and smoky overtones, and the flavors are in balance with the medium body and acidity of the overall wine style. The body and especially the dryness make it perfect for mid-intensity savory foods, such as veal. REG: $19.99 SALE: $16.99

Hazlitt Riesling 2010 (New York): With Easter around the corner here’s a semi-dry Riesling that would be perfect with the array of Easter brunch foods. It’s a light, crisp style featuring ripe peach and tangerine fruits. The balance of sweetness and acidity will make it a great accompaniment to a range of flavors. REG: $11.99 SALE: $9.99 Not responsible for typographical errors. All bottles are 750ml unless otherwise noted. All sale prices valid through May 31, 2012

Brassfield Pinot Noir 2010 (California): This Pinot has interesting flavors and very nice acidity. The vines are grown on the Brassfield Estate in Clearlake. Winemaker David Ramey used a percentage of the fruit “whole-cluster”, and the fermentation was carried out with native yeasts. It is medium-weight for Pinot Noir. REG: $15.99 SALE: $13.99

Tortoise Creek Merlot 2009 (California): This 100% Merlot comes from a sustainably farmed vineyard in Lodi. It’s a bright and refreshing style with ripe blackberry and cherry aromas and flavors. This easy drinking Merlot will pair up nicely with grilled or smoked meats. REG: $11.99 SALE: $9.99

Lorinon Rioja Crianza 2008 (Spain): This vintage is made from 100% Tempranillo. It has oaky overtones from spending 14 months in American- oak barrels; it’s aged an additional 6 months in bottle before release. One result of all this ageing is a very smooth palate-feel. We like it with beef and many pork preparations. REG: $13.99 SALE: $11.99

Rupert & Rothschild Classique Red 2009 (South Africa): The blend here is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The palate is pretty classic for South Africa with a generous amount of earthiness in the nose as well. There’s plenty of rich dark berries with white pepper and some cedar wood notes in the finish. REG: $16.99 SALE: $14.99

Canapone Maremma 642 Toscana 2009 (Italy): The “6” part of the “642” is the grapes which are Cabernet, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Sangiovese, and Montepulciano. The “42” part refers to the latitude of the vineyards. The blend is dry and richly-concentrated, with good balance between fruit and structure. Serve with heartier fare. REG: $18.99 SALE: $15.99

Xanadu Next of Kin Shiraz 2008 (Australia): When we tasted this Shiraz thought it was an exceptional red for the price! It’s very full-bodied, as one would expect, but very nicely balanced with good acidity to keep it fresh. The flavors include dark cherry, licorice, vanilla bean and a touch of spicy oak in the finish. REG: $13.99 SALE: $11.99

Hermanos Malbec-Tannat 2010 (Argentina): Historically grown in the southwest of France, Tannat is now the national grape of Uruguay. In Argentina it is used primarily for blending. In this Hermanos red it makes up 30% of the blend, the rest being Malbec. We think it really adds a nice depth of color and complexity to the wine. REG: $17.99 SALE: $14.99

Chateau Preuillac Medoc

Dark red. Red currant, dried cherry and vanillin oak on the nose, with a smoky mineral quality in the background. Lively red fruit and rose pastille flavors are complemented by sweet vanilla bean and cola nuances. The oakiness fades away on the long finish, which is juicy, expansive and seamless. 2009 Burgundy New Arrivals

“After visiting Burgundy and tasting more than 265 reds and whites from barrel earlier this year, I am impressed by the 2009 vintage, especially for the reds. In cellar after cellar, the Pinot Noirs were charming, bursting with ripe fruit, balanced in a very seductive, forward manner and absolutely delicious to taste. The whites are also forward and rich. The best have good acidity, though less mineral intensity than the two preceding years, 2008 and 2007. The 2009s are opulent, with lush fruit and round, ample profiles. “ Bruce Sanderson - Wine Spectator

Mid Valley is now offering a hand-picked selection of 2009 red and white Burgundies. We focused on smaller artisan producers, offering both quality and value. All on Sale!

2009 Macon Chaintre, Domaine Fabrice Larochette The Larochettes have been in wine for at least four generations. Fabrice Larochette exploits about 25 acres of land in the Maconnais and produces exclusively white Burgundies. He uses 500 or 600 liter barrels of “one or two winesâ€? which means that the barrels have been used for one or two vintages. New barrels or smaller barrels would probably overpower the wine. A much more serious wine that one would expect from a Macon. Aromas and flavors of citrus, apples, coriander, and herbs present themselves with a bright energy and balance. Great as an appĂŠtit and/or paired with smoked salmon, raw fish, tilapia or goat cheese. $16.99

Sale $13.49

2009 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine The domaine is run with great attention to detail and the wines display this across the board, from the classy Bourgogne Chardonnay right up to the Corton Grand cru. One of the very finest whites of Burgundy, Corton Charlemagne is famed for it weight, complexity and intensity. Expect concentrated, rich nutty tones with hints of minerally lime and lemon. On the palate there is a weight of fruit and complexity coupled with subtle honeysuckle, lime, toast and hazelnut. Extraordinary stuff. The vineyard is situated in the prime area of the hillside of Corton where its southeasterly aspect ensures maximum exposure to the sun. The fruit is harvested as late as possible to guarantee maximum ripeness. $115.00

Philippe Colin established this domaine in 2004; he had previously worked alongside his father and brother at the family domaine, Michel Colin-Deleger. With 27 acres (11ha) of vineyards in and around Chassagne-Montrachet. His viticultural practices are much like those of many Burgundians of his generation. Leaf plucking is a systematic feature of the viticultural calendar (the leaves are removed at grape bunch height on the side facing the rising sun) as is green harvesting, which generally takes place around the middle of July. At harvest time, Philippe has a selection table attached to the tractor in the vines (an unusual sight) and another beneath the de-stalker in the cellar, designed to remove any dried berries and pips.

2009 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Domaine Philippe Colin An inexpensive opportunity to savor a super 2009 vintage. Many of the grapes for this wine are sourced from Chassagne- Montrachet. The wine shows clean stone fruits and minerals. Balanced with good acidity. Treat this one like a Premier Cru and open an hour or two before serving. $21.99

Sale $18.99

2009 Saint-Aubin “Les Combes” 1er Cru Domaine Philippe Colin Only 20 years ago, half, if not more, of the soil in Saint-Aubin, was planted with pinot noir vines. Today, it is one of the hottest tickets for affordable great white Burgundies. Premier Cru « Les Combes » is facing East with a stony soil made of chalky sediments. All this vineyard spreads along the main road Paris-Lyon which crosses the valley of Gamay and the village of Saint Aubin. This fantastically well balanced and complex wine would be a great accompaniment to pan fried scallops, fresh crab or lobster dishes $49.99 Sale $39.99

2009 Chassagne-Montrachet “Les Vergers “ 1er Cru Domaine Philippe Colin “Let’s get straight to the point: Chassagne kicked the ball out of the park in 2009. They played a blinder. I cannot remember tasting so many delicious wines out of barrel since first began tasting alongside Dr. Lavelle in the 19th century. I think it is case of growers upping their game as much as the growing season…” Neal Martin, Wine Advocate Les Vergers is a Premier Cru vineyard of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. Located immediately north of Chassagne-Montrachet village on the middle slopes of the Cote d'Or, this east-facing vineyard produces almost exclusively white wines from Chardonnay. $71.99 Sale $57.99 Not responsible for typographical errors. 2009 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Domaine Marchand-Grillot This is the second smallest of the Grand Crus in Gevery-Chambertin, consisting of only 8.1 acres. Marchand-Grillot makes only 2 barrels of this Grand Cru, that's 2 barrels for the whole world! The soil here is excessively rocky and thin, making cultivation quite difficult. Robert Parker comments on this vineyard, saying, "It is clichĂŠ to say that the harder it is to cultivate the vineyard the better the wine, but it might explain why I have tasted so many great wines from this Grand Cru vineyard" $160.00

The climat lies above Richebourg.” Silky and layered on the palate, complex, aromas of raspberry, rose, and strawberry. $81.99

2009 Volnay “Clos de la Cave” Domaine Rossignol-Fevrier Volnay Clos de la Cave is located in the middle of Volnay completely surrounded by houses, walls, and trees. The wine is silky in texture aromatic and elegant on the nose and palate while offering layered berry-like fruit and a lingering finish.
