Dear School Community, It is truly a privilege to welcome all those in attendance to the 14th Annual Wines to Wishes celebration. Whether you are a parent, parishioner, or simply a guest this evening, we are thrilled to have you join us. Wines to Wishes is our premiere fundraising event that directly benefits St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish School. Year after year, our community comes together to enjoy games; build community with both old and new friends; bid on amazing items donated by sponsors, donors, and parents; and simply revel in the generosity of all those who support our school. I hope that those traditions continue tonight! Our Fund-A-Need program is our way to raise funds specifically for those areas of our school that need improvement. At last year’s event, we fulfilled our goal of purchasing laptops for our teachers and staff and flexible seating furniture for five classrooms. This year, we hope to outfit the remaining eleven classrooms with the same furniture as well as purchase at least two new water filling stations. I urge you to consider donating this evening to ensure that we meet our goal. An event such as this would not be possible without the first-class leadership from our Co-Chairs, Michelle Barsness and Rita Arndorfer. Thanks to the tireless work of these two women as well as that of the entire Wines to Wishes committee, we are able to see their creativity and hard work come to fruition. In addition, we are grateful for the abundant generosity of our event sponsors and donors. Without their giving, the wishes of our school community would remain unfulfilled. Finally, thank you to all the families and friends who attend our event. Your presence reminds us of why we do the job we do every day. We truly appreciate your partnership in educating our students. On behalf of Father Skluzacek, Father Shovelain, and the Co-Chairs, thank you for sharing this evening as we celebrate a bright, faith-infused future for St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish School. Sincerely yours, Ms. Ann P. Laird Principal

A SPECIAL THANKS to the large number of Wines to Wishes volunteers who willingly commit to the different committees and who help set-up, staff the events, and clean-up to ensure our success. The weekend is truly a community effort, and we appreciate all contributions of time and talent. 13 Years of Success Since 2006, Wines to Wishes has raised over $995,000 to assist St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish School. Our community’s generosity has funded the following dreams: handicapped-accessible bathrooms; new playground equipment; desks; library books; classroom updates and ENO (smart) boards; a public address system; science laboratory tables, stools, and storage; media center and laboratory renovations; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) kits for all grades; updates to the Fine Arts Department and preschool; new sport uniforms; a new school freezer; additional iPads; laptops for all teachers and staff; and flexible seating furniture for five classrooms. Starting with the 10th Wines to Wishes in 2015, we were also able to contribute to the Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund, a tradition we are hoping to continue!

Evening Schedule NEW THIS YEAR! – All aspects of the event – game participation, additional casino cash, and drink tickets, can be purchased by using your bid number or with cash. If you use your bid number, your purchases will be reflected in your final total at the end of the evening.

SILENT AUCTION Upon arrival, you will receive a packet with your assigned bid number. Remember to bring this catalog to the auction. All items in the silent auction are numbered. This number is listed in this catalog and also on the bid sheet near the item on display. Items will have a minimum bid amount stated on the bid sheet. Bidding must start with that price or higher. Each bid sheet will contain a minimum bid increment. Bids must be raised in increments equal to or greater than the minimum increment. If you wish to bid on a particular item, simply print your assigned bid number and the amount you wish to bid in the appropriate columns on the bid sheet. Silent auction items will be closed down by sections at staggered intervals starting at 9:00 p.m. Once a section of the bidding area is closed, auction personnel will collect the bid sheets and record the winners. A carbon copy of the bid sheets with highlighted winners for each area will remain by the items. Please do not remove items from display--an Auction Monitor will assist you. Check-out will begin 15 minutes after the conclusion of the live presentations. 8.a Express Check-Out: If you have enrolled in Express Check-Out, collect your items at each location by showing the Auction Monitor your bid number and Express Check-Out designation by 11:15 p.m. 8.b If you did not enroll in Express Check-Out, by 11:15 p.m., please come to the registration/check-out table, located near the west entrance to the church. The cashiers will have all of your paperwork for the items you have won, plus any donations to the Fund-A-Need collection. When you have finished paying for your items, the cashier will hand you a copy of the paperwork needed to collect your items. Present your paperwork to the Auction Monitors near the item you purchased. All items not paid for or picked up by 11:15 p.m. will be brought to the school office for pick up on Monday, February 4th, 2019.

Any stated fair market value for items being auctioned is provided by the donor or is an estimate and is not warranted by St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish School for tax purposes or for general value. 10. Any decisions on disputed or illegal bids will be settled by the auction committee, which may result in the bids being nullified and the item pulled from the auction. All decisions are final.

Live Auction Procedures LIVE AUCTION 1. When bidding, please hold up your bid number toward the auctioneer. 2. A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item. 3. Items purchased during the Live Auction can be collected at the registration table.

Fund-A-Need For more than a decade, the Wines to Wishes event at St. John the Baptist Parish School has turned a plethora of dreams into a reality, and this year will be no different! Proceeds from the 2019 Fund-A-Need portion of the evening will be used to purchase flexible seating furniture as well as two water filling stations. Thanks to generous donors from last year’s event, the school purchased flexible seating furniture for five classrooms. This year, we hope to raise funds for the remaining eleven rooms! Studies have shown that these types of furniture provide physical and cognitive benefits to students, and it also gives them a glimpse of how many high schools and workplaces are changing their traditional furniture pieces. Comments from SJB students, teachers, and parents who currently see how this furniture is being used have been nothing but positive. We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity for every student! The school would like to purchase at least two new water filling stations. The benefits of these stations are environmentally friendly, create a healthier environment, and help to prevent the spread of illnesses. The school currently has one station and would like more throughout the building. Monies raised above and beyond the cost of the projects will go towards the Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund, ensuring Catholic education at St. John the Baptist Parish School for years to come. The time is now - the need is great. Let’s make this wish come true in 2019!!!

BUBBLE NECKLACES Try your chance at winning some fast cash by purchasing a $20 Bubble Necklace from Father Paul Shovelain. Each necklace purchased will provide an entry into the drawing to win half the “pot.” The more who play, the better the winnings! Be sure to seek out Father for a chance to compete in the game!

Gift Card Board Everyone’s a winner! For $10, choose a gift card off the board. You are guaranteed to receive your $10 back, and you may even win $50 to a local restaurant or store. It’s worth a shot to see what you get! There are only 30 opportunities, so be sure to check it out!

Wine Pull Back by popular demand is the Wine Pull! For $20, reach into the basket of wine corks to reveal a number, which will be matched to a bottle. Student Art Kindergarten “Blue and White Flower Vase” Take home this beautiful and bright work of art made by the kindergarten class. Each class split into boys and girls to create their own 3dimensional flower made with re-used egg cartons and painted paper. After they made their beautiful flowers, they helped paint the classic style blue and white vase by each adding their own bright blue line in their curvy, straight, dotted, and zig-zag style. The vases of flowers are glued onto a brightly colored background and framed in a shadow box frame to create a beautiful addition to your home décor.

1st Grade “Marbled Paper Birds” The 1st graders had an exciting day of suminagashi style paper marbling. In the next class, they cut feather shapes from the delicately colored paper and constructed beautiful birds from the paper. Each group created one bird, which is mounted on a beautiful blue background and framed to display in your home.

Student Art 3rd GRADE “3D Wall Sculptures”

5TH GRADE “Galactic Corn Hole”

The 3rd grade students had two fun days of art class to create their own bird or tree to incorporate in their group’s wall hanging sculpture. After sculpting their bird or tree, they used colorful ceramic glazes to paint them with bright and shiny colors. The clay pieces all have a special wire coil embedded in the back, which is stuck into the background clay slab. These sculptures will hang beautifully on a wall in your home.

Each 5th grade class helped make a set of corn hole boards. After the boards were made, each student helped pour liquid acrylic paint onto the boards to give them a colorful galactic design. Have some backyard and/or tailgating fun with this classic game.

Later, the students chose the colors to paint their designs. The designs include flying birds, a beautiful radial tree pattern, a radial sun design, and a Koi fish pond. These tables will make a beautiful addition to your patio or porch in the summer time or will brighten up your living room or sunroom year-round.

Guaranteed not to disappoint! This year’s 8th grade class went all out on these windows. Animal inspired windows were masterfully created. This year the students learned to cut glass in triangles and arrange the glass in these animal shapes and scenes to create these masterpieces.
