I want to tell about the contemporary, with a special attention to the social themes, respectful of people and events. I think about photography as an instrument for creating culture, for spreading information, going beyond the instant of the media event, searching for the social undertones. I approach my subjects with an “inquiring gaze”, because first of all I would like to understand. And I want to give foods for thought throughout images, inciting a critic and constructive attitude towards reality. I cannot live without traveling, I cannot travel without photography, I cannot come back from a travel without the need of telling the stories I’ve met, in order to involve the others in the beauty that fulfills the World. And I always want to leave again: in every place there is a story that just wants to be told.

Burma diary Let’s go to Burma. Let’s learn their Culture. For a conscious and responsible tourism.

A reportage in Burma among people, few weeks after the proclamation of freedom of the press. In this moment of great changes, this Country needs to implement tourism in a more conscious and responsible way. Between schools, fields, monasteries, roads, markets, ... I tried to make them understand that each shot I was taking was not a “stolen” one, but that I will have brought them to my culture, so that they can become a source of respect, curiosity, in order to increase the desire to know their culture, to go to Burma. And when I become invisible, only then I shooted. Each shot rapresents an important part of life in Burma (Myanmar) today: from the school, to the “freedom” of reading a newspaper, to the work, to the religion, to the family. Period: october 2012. Analogic bw 120 films.

Gli altri volti Identità di un terremoto. [ The other faces - Identities of an Earthquake ]

A reportage humanely eased out, born from the need of a kind of information that, as priority, listen to people who have lived as “main actors” the earthquake, on and off stage. This project shows the unpublished side of the earthquake, investigating on the multiple and different sides that the traditional medias, who has already used up the news, don’t have ever touched. The earthquake is here presented in its various sides, its “other faces”, telling more than the devastating consequences of ruins, leading the visitors to reflections on all the by-products, negative and positive, that have comes out from the calamity. “Gli altri volti” is a succession of experiences where the domain of the news is of people who want to tell about themselves. Photography is the vehicle for catching meaningful moments between all the moments, is the visual expression for instinctive and free words, means of emotion and information. Images and personal diaries free from the “prepackaged” boxes of the classical media informations: every single story, with its right of being told, gives us back a portrait of a population.

On show in Rimini, Sigismondo Castel, may - june 2013. Period: june - september 2012. Analogic bw 120 films.

Poetic of fragments that made think about what has happened, because it must be Never Again. We must preserve our Dignity of human beings, and never trample on that of other. Each image searches for the light as the iconographical message of hope and future. There is the mysterious silence of photography: suspended images where you can see what has happened through the absence, wandering on the chances of the future. Never again. Nothing else. The smile counter India, Tamil Nadu

This is a little story in a little part of a big continent. This is a story of looks and smiles, of misery and generosity. This is a story of curiosity that opens your mind. Discovering India becomes the way to understand the meanings of the Cultural differences, for reorganizing your priorities and understanding the values of people who don’t have our heavy, expensive and useless needs. It is a country made of ethnical/religious democracies, many different cultures able to respect the single entities and the single humans. Contradictions are everywhere: rubbish, real dust, is a disease of all the landscapes. It is a recurring mood wherever you go, juxtaposed to the personal hygiene that people live as a sacred ritual, it doesn’t matter if the water is polluted with trash or cadavers! The beauties of indian landscapes is a magnificence completely thrown away. But I don’t want to tell about this indian stereotype: this is for sure one of the best place for collecting this kind of images. I have looked for the fragile and indefinite mechanisms that govern the contradictions, I have looked for the shining and radiant smiles, for the people, for their little world, for the communication, as if I had to live there for a lifetime. Sometimes you need to bring your soul out of its natural limits, inhaling new breeze, permeating yourself with other souls. Period: october 2011. Analogic bw 120 films.
