due to the damage to the University of Iowa’s art museum in the 2008 flooding of the Iowa River, this gallery incorporates spaces for the permanent collection, special exhibitions, classrooms and demonstration, and storage

uplight and bedrock

the very gallery walls touch and expose the existing bedrock, while two atria and strategically positioned skylights allow controlled natural light below
