The Directors Richard Marchant Richard has been based in the Construction Industry for over 25 years, with the vast majority of this time spent involved in house building. Having held a Director level role for many years at one of the UK’s largest house builders, Richard has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the house building industry. Living in York all his life he knows the York and Yorkshire market extremely well and is well placed to assess a site’s potential preplanning or carry out a development with planning from conception to completion.
Scott Waters Years of working for mainstream PLC house builders provided Scott invaluable experience in all aspects of development, inner workings of the house building industry and a significant contact list within the Yorkshire market. Although Scott is involved in all aspects of the house building industry; land, legal and planning matters remain at the heart of Scott’s day to day role. Over the years Scott has successfully acquired and secured planning consent on all manner of sites, from exclusive luxury Greenbelt developments through to large scale urban regeneration sites of 1000+ units, often seeing them through to completed developments.

Consumer Code for Homebuilders The Consumer Code for Homebuilders was developed by the home building industry to make the home buying process fairer and more transparent for purchasers. The Code aims to ensure that all buyers are treated fairly, know what levels of service to expect, are fully informed about their purchase and their consumer rights before and after they move in, and are provided with a speedy, low cost dispute resolution scheme to deal with complaints. The Code contains requirements that all home builders who are registered with the UK’s main new home warranty providers; NHBC, Premier Guarantee and LABC Warranty must comply with. Alcuin Homes fully support the Consumer Code.

With Planning Promotion a key part of our business we have successfully negotiated planning consents on a number of contentious sites over many years. Our experience of promoting land and securing planning permissions; coupled with our technical expertise and negotiation skills with key stakeholders, such as local Planning Authorities ensure landowners maximise their asset value. Ongoing projects range from a handful of units through to strategically important sites in excess of 30 acres. New opportunities are always of interest.

Hawthorn Road, Slaithwaite Outline planning permission recently granted for three select, detached dwellings in this popular Colne Valley village, with works commencing on site towards the back end of the year.
