Printmakings

• A Playground. 2013. Etching, aquatint, 40,5 x 41,5 cm x 5. The Playground cycle is

about constructions that move and swing from light to darkness.

Printmakings

• The New York City. This cycle consists of six works. The text in the title is a link to the history literacy, as it marks the place from which in 1933 two Lithuanian heroes Steponas Darius and

Stasys Girenas started their flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Also the numbers of each title signify different moments of the take-off, taken out from the film called “Skrydis per Atlantą”, 1983(“The Flight Across the Atlantic Ocean”,1983). So the whole cycle is about the take-off moment and the fact that a person who is literate can understand this artwork as a message about the importance of this phenomenal flight. Though an individual who doesn’t know anything about the flight, can just look at this landscape and the whole “take-off” idea becomes about his own pursuit of perfection.

Books

• The Book. 2012. Softer paper for book’s inside, clear plastic for a cover, string, metal rings. 30 pages. 29,5 x 15,5 cm

71

71 • This book’s typography elements and text stress it’s horizontal form. The most important aspect of this book is that all composition is minimal and contrasting. Besides, I wanted that the book’s cover and it’s inside also contain the same contrast. I achieved this by using plastic for the cover and soft hand-made paper for the insides of the book.

Books

• Grafikos katedra/Graphics Department. 2013. Etching paper for the case of the book, watercolour paper for book’s inside, felt for a cover, metal rings. 18 pages. Book 18 x 18 cm, case of the book 25 x 22 x 5 cm

72

72 • This book is created to reveal The Graphics Department of Vilnius Art Academy. All information is from the website of our Academy. This book’s cover is made from felt and etching paper that are connected by metal rings. It stresses the fact that this book is dedicated to The Graphics Department. The book’s inside contrasts with it’s cover, as it is very minimal and delicately white. This book’s model also contains squares, which are details of composition. Also, there are dots. All these details emphasize composition as a whole.

Books

• Portfolio. 2013. Watercolour paper for the inside of the book, transparent tracing paper for the cover, thread. 49 pages. 18 x 18 cm

Books

• Portfolio. 2013. Watercolour paper for the inside of the book, transparent tracing paper for the cover, thread. 49 pages. 18 x 18 cm

73

73 • Subtle pictures call for a delicate book. To enhance this I used basic pastel colours. These colours and pictures have been used to make layers. I was inspired to make them from watching Klee’s works. My goal was to apply the style of the Bauhaus school for a modern composition using such aspescts as typefaces and geometric forms.

Books

• Eskizu generatorius/Skicu generesana/ Generator of Sketches. 2013. Whatman paper, watercolour paper, stapler, thread, 17 x 21 cm

74

74 • In this book I used sketches from summer practice in Nida. The theme was ‘‘The Generator’’. Lithuanian and Latvian students had to work together. This is why I wanted to create a book using sketches that we had drawn together. I wanted the book to look simple but interesting at the same time. The form of the book is dinamic and flexible as are the sketches.

Books

• The Object-book “Senses”. 2013. Documentation photos of the object-book.

75

75 • This work describes the five senses, which reveal by interacting with a book. I wanted to stress this importance through the perspective of a child. This is why I made a sweather for children from a paper thread to express the receptivity of children. The most important thing is that in oder to know the book you have to be more receptive for it’s sound, taste, facture and not only for the books information. You have to be like a child. Then your relation with the book will always be in the new way of recognition.

Poster

• This poster is dedicated to the Graphics Department of Vilnius Art Academy. 2013. Etching paper, frame, 15 x 21 cm

76

76 • I wanted to express the idea about the singularity of the Graphics Department. This poster gives the message of what kind of learning student can be given in this Department. It is printmaking. The most important thing is that in this poster the print is blank and without any information. It translates the idea that every student who studied, studies or will study at the Graphics Department will make a mark in with independant and unique prints.
