Thank you to all of our sponsors and volunteers who supported the Great Lakes Women’s Business Conference. We had over 900 attendees from all over the Midwest. The conference brought new components to the events this year that are already paying off. This year, we held a Canadian Trade Mission where 12 of our WBEs participated. One of our WBEs already has a strategic partnership in process with one of the Canadian WBEs.

We also held a WBENC Automotive Industry Group meeting where our focus is on inclusion of WBEs in the automotive supply chain. The Women’s Business Showcase was fun, interactive and impactful. A highlight for everyone was our Award Figure 2: Women's Business Showcase

Launch of Livingston County Loan Fund Small businesses in Livingston County now have another option to finance their business. Three organizations, CEED Lending, First National Bank and the Livingston County Economic Development Council, have come together to support Livingston County small businesses. Loans up to $50,000 can be used for machinery, equipment, inventory and some working capital. In 2011, Livingston County launched a county-wide strategic growth plan to become a sustainable community through the Advantage Livingston initiative. The process included input from more than 800 community leaders, residents and small business owners. The creation of a microlending fund was part of the five broad strategies.

“I have found CEED Lending to be a very helpful resource. The Micro Loan I received has allowed me to expand and grow my business. I highly recommend their services”. -April Hargraves, BarkTown USA LLC

“Small businesses, through their growth, are the leading growth area of employment, and we want to support them to stay in Livingston Countyemployment growth being a primary goal of the EDC in Livingston County” Scott Griffith, Board Chair, Livingston County EDC. “Establishing a Micro Loan Fund in Livingston County is a great way to show small business owners and entrepreneurs that we welcome them in our community. First National is happy to help by providing an integral portion of the funding to make the Micro Loan Fund a reality and ultimately help bring jobs to communities across Livingston County,” said Ron Long, President and CEO at First National Bank.

Contact Todd VanAppledorn, CEED Lending Loan Officer at 734-677-1400 or tvanappledorn@miceed.org for a free, one-on-one loan orientation at First National Bank.
