Composition of the atmosphere 

The atmosphere contains this amount of each substance:

Nitrogen - 78.084%

Oxygen - 20.95%

Argon - 0.934%

Carbon Dioxide - 0.036%

Neon - 0.0018%

Helium - 0.0005%

Methane - 0.00017%

Hydrogen - 0.00005%

Nitrous Oxide - 0.00003%

Ozone - 0.000004%


Troposphere The troposphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. The height of the troposphere goes from 7 to 20 kilometers tall. The lowest level of the troposphere has a temperature of about -55ยบC and as you go higher up the troposphere the temperature is lower. The bottom of the troposphere is called the boundary layer; it is usually 2km deep depending on the landform. It is shallower in the Polar Regions, at 7km during summer time. The higher you go the layer gets thinner each time. When you are in the ground or in water, the hot is getting directly to you, but if you go up a mountain it gets colder. This happens because the higher up you are standing; the closer you are getting to the troposphere. When you are at the top of the mountain the temperature decreases, this happens because you are getting into the troposphere.


Stratosphere Stratosphere is one of the numerous changed layers of the atmosphere; itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s the second layer of the atmosphere. Stratosphere is between the troposphere and the mesosphere. This layer is manifest with stratification of temperature. The temperature is

greatly cooler in the lower

layer of

stratosphere. This is opposite

from the

troposphere. Its border

between

troposphere and stratosphere

and it is known as

the tropopause. Stratosphere

begins at a vertical

distance of about 10

kilometers

overhead the ground level,

but in a case of

polar region the stratospheric

layer makes at a

distance of 8 kilometers above

the ground level.

The Stratosphere is made up

with a very little amount of moisture. Bacteria are found and exist in the stratosphere and some birds are also found flying in the lower level of stratosphere. Finally the manifestation of ozone molecules and the ozone layer itself.


Mesosphere The mesosphere is the layer above the stratosphere. The mesosphere starts at 50 kilometers overhead the earthâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s surface and it goes up to 85 kilometers high. As you go up the temperature in the mesosphere gets colder. The top of the mesosphere is the coldest part in all the layers of the "The Mesosphere." Atmosphere. The temperature is the mesosphere is about -90 ° C. There are boundaries between layers that each name is different. Planes cannot get to high and get to the mesosphere. Meteors burn in this layer. There is a cloud that forms in the mesosphere near the north and south poles. There are gasses that mix in the air.

The pressure of the earth is measured with this thing. It this is a type of a thermometer that measures the earth pressure.


Thermosphere Thermosphere is part of a layer of the atmosphere. The thermosphere is right overhead the mesosphere and below the exosphere, in the bottom of the thermosphere is the mesopause, all these names are parts of the atmosphere. The atmosphere extends 90km to 500- 1,000 km above our planet. It is 200째 C hotter in the daytime than at nighttime. Temperatures in the higher thermosphere can variety from about 500째 C to 2,000째 or upper. The air of the atmosphere density is so low that is considered as an outer space. The X-ray and UV radiation from the Sun is absorbed in the thermosphere.


Exosphere The exosphere is right on top of the thermosphere. The exosphere is the furthest layer of the atmosphere. Its temperature range starting 300 degrees to 170degrees Celsius.

The exosphere contains

helium and also

hydrogen. Its molecules are

so thinly and

separated that they have a

good scraping to

the atmosphere with

another molecule.

If a exosphere molecule is

moving too fast it

would escape to the space.

The exosphere is technically part of space temperature could reach zero degrees at night. When people that are nonscientist talk about outer space they refer to the exosphere.


Life on Earth The earthâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s atmosphere is important to living creatures on earth. First of all, it protects us from the harmful sun rays that come into our planet, such as UV rays that cause harm to our skin. Also, the atmosphere provides weather for us. Weather is important because without it, the environment would not be working the way it is. A type of weather is rain, rain helps us grow crops and plants, and provides water for us to use in many ways. The Mesosphere is important to living beings because in that layer meteors melt, if it would not be for that layer the meteors would crash into Earth and cause serious damages. Each of the layers has an important job, without the atmosphere life on earth would not be the same
