Monday, September 07, 2009 My Own Signature accomplished Current mood: Category: Writing and Poetry In my journal, I like to add sometimes my own personal and private faith since I am going public with the chat arena... I was raised as a christian. My mother was a christian, and my stepfather, who I called dad, was a muslim. I was very fortunate to understand the difference between science and religion. I was raised to believe in many ideas, systems and the favorite one was the system of oppression. I understood as a child that sometimes faith was the supernatural glue that tied equality from faith to reality and injustice to love. I know very is a hard concept to articulate, but what I am trying to say, sometimes we could not live on bread alone, but by words of I remember as a child when we didn't have food to eat, we had song and faith to feed us. When we had to watch injustice happen we didn't have lawyers, doctors, medication, and education system that supported us, protected us and lead us to safe waters, but we had angels pierce the sky, giants moving mountains, and an imagination to lay our heads to safety. I know in my heart, a childhood goggles sometimes mean a mind running wild, but as a child, I knew that faith was my leading rod, and sometimes only teacher. My mother is a good woman, and she played a provider and nurturer role, and sometimes the ideas of having no god meant having no life but the life that was dished out to you...and in my case it was a life of oppression. I was set free from this life of oppression through dreams, fantasies, and fictional characters that most people would call mad, but it is the very path that I had to tread on for those many years... Hebrew 11, and John 11, that summarizes that sometimes faith is a type of formula that wakes up the dead, not formulas of (seen) man, but formulas of the unknown (not like man), which we give title of God, and for those like myself Christ pupils, we call salvation given freely...Isaiah 55 and 58. (Not all faiths are healthy and not all faiths are dysfunctional, likewise all systems). I suppose to those that are "outside" which sometimes are seen as the privileged or those outside of the systems of oppression, cannot fathom the idea of faith because everything may be or may not be of rights, and not a privilege and as some, a dream. Some rights are not given to others, so what do you have two worlds functioning under one house. You have the outdoor slaves and the indoor have the good slave masters and the dysfunctional slave masters...and the list of taxonomy within human species...but in this age of information we call ourselves union and labors of that union, and the other world we call capitalist and corporates and states, (nations), so here we are again, systems of oppression and systems of privilege. Now whether it has anything to do with race, sex, sexual orientation and class, it has everything to do with how we function and survive. Now within this statement of faith, i have a peculiar faith in christ...for i am somewhat privileged and somewhat ....i have one foot in the water and one foot in the desert storms...and that leads me to drinking a bittersweet anointing oil...and that is what cause some controversy and contradiction to what some would say i speak under as maybe confused or completely disturbed...all in all, i have achieved many victories, and i have my own success stories as well as failures and disappointments but at the end of the day, i've had an abundant life, and now it is time and the season to draw my story, artistically in writing, my own expression of this splattered love. I am a pupil of christ, but since i've lived in the world i find myself in it sometimes and not of it other times, whether as free or as a symbol slave, no matter what the experience has lead me to this day, and this is my expression the word art on my heart, mind, soul, spirit and body, that speaks of riddles, perceptions, illustration and hopefully treading depth of love that will be a friendly guiding light to those that need company or a journey my friends, to those who know me and those who do

J'ai été élevé en chrétien. Ma mère était chrétienne, et mon beau-père, que j'ai traité de papa, a été un musulman. J'ai eu la chance de comprendre la différence entre la science et la religion. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the Arm (between the elbow and armpit) OR in the upper inner thigh EXTREMELY HARD. The police told her 'Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door. The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way, what ever you do, DO NOT open the door.' He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He s aid they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night. Typically Caucasian males are drawn to this phenomenal of dating an international women or a different culture then their own. That the overall pursuit is to make a women possibly be their beck and call. These women advertise themselves on websites in provocative clothing to get the attention of men. The overall controversy is welcoming an illegal alien into the united states on a marriage visa. That this marriage visa results in being married to these men that women typically do not know on a different basis than the internet. That these men are typically overweight and lie about the way they look which is deceiving to the women they are ?ordering? in some circumstance. Maybe the overall underlying issue is that these men are not confident in the way

Some women will get a great man, but the outcome and life for others may be not be as fantastic as they anticipated. The women may feel as they must do what their husbands desire because they got them into the United States in the first place. They are bind buy their husbands, but also their marriage contract they accepted. That these women may be finding a way out to escape the horror and turmoil of their home country or the lack of opportunities where they reside. They may be afraid to venture out of their countries to explore other places that do not hinder advancements for one self. Mail order brides may be a superficial love that will not last for a long period of time. I was in an illusion, for one day, this crazy delusion will be shattered with one word, and that is that why could I have possibly let you go. I saw you the moment in my mind, and then reality brought you to the grounds. I wish I could have wished upon a star one more time, for one more chance to see you in my arms. "Integrity: Wisdom is knowing what path to take next... integrity is taking it. (Unknown) ------------1 The Framers (1a) In chapter one, the author Robert Dahl is setting the tone of the book using the framers as the founding fathers who will begin to create the new world order using the framework in the Constitution. This scholar is associating the “under construction” of the constitution as building a house. The ideas that these men created the Constitution will begin to structure its skeleton frame by the Declaration of Independence, (page 5, and first paragraph). This setting of the stage with the Declaration of Independence will begin the main theme of the Constitution. Unlike many cultures in America who would disagree in its entirety that it would have been best for the Constitution to be themed around Equality, these men were not looking into the future for equality for all men, but “Independence” for all men, all people in regards to their motives, plans and agenda but equality was not thought about around that table, it would begin in the desire and fire for “Independence,” So therefore, this is the main theme for the Constitution when created. What is the bias, and where are we going in that compromise for freedom for “all” under the system of powers, rights and privileges/resources? (Reflection of all three, Spitzer, Dahl, Lectures,Sahr)(The theme of my report is to ” identify” freedom in the minds of the framers and equality and equity in the minds of the people. This theme was influenced and the demonstration of that theme of freedom is seen throughout the book as the framers begin to transform their beliefs and leadership around the idea of a constitutional system. (Dahl, Page 6) In chapter two, the scholar is laying out the blueprints of the “constitutional” house. The first layer in the constitutional house is the framers. The founding fathers and what they couldn’t know about the future as the architects of the house.. (Dahl, Page 8, first paragraph) These men around the “round table” so to speak, could not have known how much of an impact that this system would create in the future. The opportunities for a culture to be in freedom in thinking as the genius’ of Leonardo da Vinci, Benjamin Franklin, the Wright Brothers, and the list goes on, to the many people given the many opportunities of this constitutional system central mainframe around the nut of freedom, independent freedom. It is the whole concept of giving their core ideas of what they wanted for themselves, each other and their families, the opportunity to be independent thinkers, and express those ideas within an arrangement that will arisen the American system. (Dahl, Page 10, paragraph 2 and 3) (Also Reflection Spitzer also, chapt.1) (1b)Now these framers had their limitations, as a critical thinker I see, “their hidden ignorance,” brought upon division and inequality. (Dahl, Page 11, first paragraph) The scholar suggest that Alexander Hamilton, who was in favor on monarchy support on the unpopular institution, a government ruled by the aristocratic society. In this debate, the ideas of aristocratic ideas in the American constitution will later haunt our country, but in the end, the concept of an aristocratic government and an aristocratic constitution did not seem appropriate for majority of the framers yet they still weaved many of its ideas within the framework of the constitution, as I call the “hidden agenda.” Within the debate on how to

(Dahl, Page 12, paragraph 2) How can these framers begin to address a coherent, unified theory of government that may have split ideas, beliefs and agendas for the country at large on basic issues, so they had to find an order that would secure an agreement on any issue, a compromise had to be made. The framers had to address the coexistence of others through the slavery issue, and so the continuation of slavery began to be the nails that hammered the constitution together as one. (Also Reflection to Lectures) The ideas around slavery had to be built and to create a stronger federal government. The slavery demands had to be worked within the constitution to show compromise and appeal for the security of the interests of the economy and the development of the ideas of the men involved and their families, without slavery; they could not formulate their beliefs and ideas on creating an acceptable condition for the states. This was the provision that might have endangered the institution of the country as a result the compromise for the southern states would to preserve slavery as the means to get the work done, mass production of the industrial production for their system. It was an economic value to keep slavery is a means to a gain for the constitution. (Dahl, Page 13, paragraph 2) (3c)Other conflicts arrived in formulating the representation in the Senate, Suffrage, Election of the President, choosing senators, equal representation in the senate, judial power, congressional power, the proto-republican phase, the republican phase, finally the democratic republic foundation of the constitution had been birthed.(Dahl, Page 22, paragraph 3) Of course, not all people were created equal, it would have to evolve into that notion under the American constitution that all people, not just men would be able to partake in the “constitutional house.” Now the amendments were through the convictions of the framers, for an example, the Sedition Act, but despite of the “vigorous efforts of the Federalists,” the democratic changes generated new political institutions and practices an operating system that would emerged not intentionally, but arise from the ashes, so to speak from the constitution is the “Bill of Rights,” and the other “Amendments” Out of these convictions, they began to create another platform that would begin to construct in the inclusion of a new generation of slave rights, women rights, voting age, poll tax, political parties, Electoral College, until finally the revolution. (Also Reflection Spitzer also, chapt. 2) At the age of 25, James Madison, began his new draft of the Virginia Declaration of Rights and the new state constitution. James Madison with Jefferson would become leaders of the opposition to Federalist policies and ideas, and so began to revise the “Federalists” influenced by David Hume, “the dangers of factions, the threat from majorities united on principles contrary to the general interest, political parties as at best a necessary evil.” (Dahl, Page 33, paragraph 3) Still in the corners of convictions, Madison, the leader in framers began to construct the ‘equality among all in an establishing political opportunity. (Dahl, Page 34, paragraph 2) As these convictions began to materialize in the constitution; the constitution began to become an “all power in human hands” (Dahl, Page 36) so within that conviction Madison wanted a “representation of all people” power that determined excellent judgment and practices, but not having the practical ideology system for the constitution this still left the constitution in need for the strength of developing of the democratic commitment among the framers who would become the laborers for the constitution through the ages within its changes, amendments, and new institutions and practices the belief system of the Americans would remain not as clear as Madison wanted “utility as an instrument of democratic government—nothing more, nothing less,” but as this unstable goal to bridge freedom and equality, the constitution would become the headquarters of the ideology of the American spirit. An American Illusion 2 The Constitution as a Model (Question 1) After building the headquarters the constitutional system, the next step in the system is the soul, the breath of the system. The construction of the constitution in its original framers, the minds of the government, would begin with the fundamental and basic rights, beliefs, ideas and goals for a new country that would finally include convictions, amendments and reform for the people.(Also Reflection Spitzer, chapter 3) The constitution’s breath is the “American Illusion” the spirit of the constitution would begin to be the model of the constitution. The measuring rod of the constitution is whether or not it is accessible to bring freedom to all people equally. These convictions are Madison’s hope that this constitution would bring accountability and responsibility for those with power to represent the people with the spirit of freedom and equality of freedom for all people, which I would call the spirit of this house. The scholar’s examination of the “American Illusion” is that the constitution may not be the document that will bring these goals to reality of freedom and equality of representation and responsibility for all people with power and without power. . “…the superiority of our American political system by comparing it with political systems in countries ruled by non democratic regimes or in countries that suffer from violent conflict, chronic corruption, frequent chaos, regime collapse or overthrow, and the like…” (Dahl, Page 42, paragraph 3) The social and economic conditions are unique compared to the twenty-two older democracies. (Dahl, Page 43, paragraph 2) The scholar begins to break down the structure as federal or unitary. In comparison to the Germany, Switzerland and Australia, the functions are “deliberations of the Parliamentary Commission, are still hereditary seats based on an aristocratic society. (Personally, I disagree that our system has changed from moving or shifting from an aristocratic society because of the costs that it takes to run for Presidency, a poor man cannot run for Presidency, the election costs are way too high, media and exposure for popularity is a money game, and so it is still in my eyes, as a critical thinker, an aristrocratic society based government. Our part of the legislation and executive branches are all men and women of power, money prestige and so none are presently living in poverty or represent the poor sectors of our country.) The unequal representation is another system that all federal systems are to preserve and protect “unequal representation” in sense the background noise of the structure that I consider as the “hidden agenda.” Of course, this is not seen, but heard.(also Reflection Spitzer chapt.4) This is the American illusion that there is an “equal representation” but the fundamental block of the constitution still hold a ghostly substance of “inequality representation.” So as the civil war begins, “the United States stands out among the twenty-two comparable democratic countries for the degree of unequal representation in its upper chamber.” (Dahl, Page 54, paragraph 2) “It is design to serve the interests of all its citizens as political equals.” The electoral system being compared to France, Canada, United Kingdom, and the Scotland/Wales are in demonstration of majority wins. It is to give a proportional representation as an alternative method. In the party systems the interests of the people would be displayed in these parties. These parties would lay out their strengths and weakness for the system. The analyses of the constitution would include the “information and ideas of methodology to promote the cause, nation’s purpose and mission,” (Dahl, Page 64 and 65) so the popular house would have a house to be the check to balance the house in ideas, methods and interests, which we call this the “separation of powers.”(Also Reflection Spitzer 5, 6, using the media as a tool to reach this goal) So the question is why 2

As the model for the constitution system, it is unique because the solution to this system compared to the older democracies’ systems were that the head of state, chief executive, the president would be equivalent of a monarch or prime minister but be checked and in balance with the interests and methods of the population at large and not in a singular perspective as a interested “all power in one hand empire.” (Dahl, Page 72) As the scholar lay down the framework, the skeleton, then the breath, soul of the constitutional system, the evidence is that the type of president and its checks and balances of its system of methods, interests and popularity, majority rules, concept, the illusion of the American constitution is that the “unequal representation” would be rectified.(Also in reflection of lectures, The Amendments of the Constitution Process) Therefore, the electing of the president would be an important part of the constitution as a model for its representation of its creed. Within the Electoral College, the failure and flaws of the constitution would be the “defects of republic and democratic representation in its candidates. Once again, the voters would be the soul, or the driving force of this constitution. How can the winner take all? The idea of unequal representation stems the winners take all theory. The framers could not have foreseen these entitlements, needs, principles of general applicability, (Dahl, Page 84, 85, and 86) for policy making and likelihood to combine the emerging forces of democratic and republic outcomes. With that in mind, the question still lies, how well can they, the process, the Constitutional system, perform in the new country with “the equal representation cry” under the “unequal representation rule” (Dahl, Page 91-97) It is necessary to protect the fundamental rights of democratic fairness, consensus, democratic effectiveness or accountability of power, diversity and responsibilities of power and examination.( Dahl, Page 119) (2b) Is “Political Equality” a realistic goal? How can we move pass the “American Illusion” into an “American Reality” of an “Equal Representation” under power and rights? (Dahl, Page 123) In the collectiveness of intelligence, incomes, wealth, skills, social and cultural endowments, birth, genes, achievements, and the list go on, equal education, equal rights, equal religious freedoms and the “equal experience” can become unrealistic under the constitution as it is. (Dahl, Page 125) It is a contribution of the constitution designed by the framers, as a progress to the “human pilgrimage” to “equal representation and equal in privilege and opportunities, but only a contribution. (Dahl, Page 129)The next question is will equality jeopardize liberty? The pursuit to freedom was the primary goal of the constitution, so will this be done away with when equality and equity arrives? (Also Reflection Spitzer, 7 & 8) The ideas and the ideology had been driven under the power to oppress a minority to increase in supreme power for freedom and ownership. The domain for liberty would have to be a limited condition for those that are part of the elite and cannot support the weak. (Dahl, Page 137) It is found that it is necessary that in order for the greater sphere of rights, liberties, and opportunities that the democratic countries thrives in liberties of independency, but the goal of political equality and equal rights among the citizens for rights, liberties and opportunities under the existence of a political equality and a democratic government can that be a realistic institution with the constitution that these framers had created? (Dahl, Page 139) Therefore, we have this framework, the constitution and its government, the soul of its illusion, and finally the examination of its “job well done prospects?” The evaluation season for our constitution, its government and its illusion determines where we go from here. In the respondents, 51% answered that the job is done poorly when a close 41% agreed it was doing a good job. The opinion of the people is still split, as it was seen at the table in the beginning with the framers. The split from the northern and southern choices and policy makers have shown in history that the constitution may have been the foundation of “independency” but also the second side of the coin would have to be the “compromise” factor. The ideals of the American illusion can be driven from the “unequal

What will the citizens have to “compromise” in order to receive “independence” under the umbrella of “equal representation” assumed for opportunities and resources in a process of federalism, presidentialism, legislations, checks and balances network, Electoral College, and a “hybrid majoritarianism, consensus?” (Dahl, Page 142147) (Also in reflection of lectures, Presidential Elections and the Media Bias Process of Selection) “I cannot foresee how successful either strategy may prove to be. But the belief of most Americans that a democratic government, warts and all, is better in the end than any feasible alternative to it is justified on fundamental principles of human equality that cannot be tightly bounded” (Dahl, Page 157) The sacrifices that are made using the constitution as a model for its government and the compromises using the illusions for equality and equal representation has to be made for “a unitary” system. Changing the Unwritten Constitution 3 Democracy and Republic (2a)Let’s begin with the formula that the written and unwritten constitution has been made, “Equal Representation in the Senate = Unequal Representation of Citizens, so therefore where do we go from here? If we did propose to change the unwritten constitution of “winner take all” then how would we move toward equal representation for the citizens and keep the equal representation in the senate? The alternative method of “proportional representation (Page 173) adding to single-member districts (also reflection of lectures) this combination or addition would give some fairness to all seats as the chambers of parliament (also reflection of lectures) in New Zealand. The ideas of the monarchic, aristocracy and democracy under one house, the constitution allowed all three governments to become one open forum to work together as a system to give people equal resource to nobility and power. This scholar concludes that though these framers differed, (Dahl, Page 183, they created a representation of democratic under the leadership of James Madison, and with that the advantages and disadvantages of the constitutional house had been built. The future will be “the people” in its many levels of equality of culture, resources and rights this constitution can be added, amended, rectify and adjusted, but the power stems under the comprehensive plan that will trace the roots of this ideology of this great illusion of the American system with the principles and open political forum of representation and classification. It will be a challenging question the direction that “the people” will take it’s “constitution and its government” in the near future. (Dahl, Page 177, last paragraph) Alexis de Tocqueville observed and reported to Europe and beyond: to a degree that had hitherto been thought far beyond mortal reach, the idea and the ideals of democracy and political equality could profoundly shape political life, beliefs, culture, and institutions in a huge, growing, diverse, progressive, and prosperous country.” (Dahl, Page 177) (2c)Throughout my documentation, my report reflects all the passages from the summaries that correlated to the lectures and other readings from this term thus far. It is to my best interest to use this quote as my conclusion quote for my reflection. A matter of fact, Alexis de Tocqueville observation is somewhat bias in the understanding of hope in its entirety of this great system we call the American politics within the umbrella of the constitution. I suppose that if my fathers created the system, I would honor it and uphold its entirety because it would be a crown of its glory, so I want to tread lightly because I am discussing issues of a predominant race in its bias formula that it is a prosperous country due to the progressive approach of institution and equality. (1d)The more I learn in this system entirety I realize that history is driven by family. The members of its family who honor, cherishes and love its roots that cannot argue because it has too much invested in its birth. The framers are the fathers of our constitution who would make up the constitution in a comprehensive plan. This plan would go in detail how the country would run. This is the example of our country and its comprehensive strategic plan, the first plan of America. First people would have human rights, some would be free and some would not, to protect the economy. Last the rules of leadership, privilege and resources will be dispersed according to education, income and leadership roles. Overall the idea of the cultural background of the Framers would explain their thought process on creating the “Constitution.

Eleven states were in attendance. 55 mortal men (page 2) created democratic standards and basic rights. Out of them only 8 was recalled in the singing of the Declaration of Independence. John Adams, Samuel Adams, Tom Paine, and Thomas Jefferson were not at the convention. The principal architect of the Constitution was James Madison. (Page 5) The constitution is changed when the beliefs of the people change.

Chapter 2: What the Framers Couldn’t Know Cultures in America (Revision) (First sentence) Limited by their profound ignorance) They could not leap into the unknown. They wanted a society focused on independence rather aristocratic to allow more men and women like the Wright Brothers, DaVinci, and others to formulate their freedoms to create, design and explore other options. They wanted to design a system that would not be a barrier to the convention and conceptions of “independent thought.” They were limited to knowing the undemocratic elements in the Framers’ Constitution (Pg 15) like slavery, suffrage, election of the president, choosing senators, equal representation in the Senate, Judicial power, congressional power, political powers, (which this book left out, interest groups, media and electoral college in this chapter) These are cultures that were not included for rights, privileges and equal representation when seated at the table. th

May 14, 1787, in the 11 year of the independence of the United States of America in Philadelphia, James Madison, as the great political scientist, could not be prepared for the future at hand. Using all his sources, he could not draw on outside knowledge elsewhere. At that time they had the British constitution to draw from but it wasn’t a suitable model. The Roman Republic did not provide any guidance. The famous Venetian Republic was govern by hereditary aristocracy, and could be overthrown. These framers lacked these necessary tools in design. First a peaceful democratic revolution, second a revolution for a new democratic political institution would shape and reconstruct their design. (page10) third, democratization unfolded in Europe that was different from America. “ Fourth, ideas and beliefs about what democracy requires would continue to evolve.” Republican form of government would dominate the belief structure of the government in their own belief of “superiority.” (Page 11) Everyone but one was against monarchy, Alexander Hamilton. Gouverneur Morris of Pennsylvania explored an American equivalent of the British aristocracy. But they knew most of the citizens would not tolerate a government with a monarchy. These men bottom line, how to form a democratic-republic. Equality and Liberty was the division. Chapter 3: The Constitution as a Model: An American Illusion

The constitution as a model or an American Illusion to be or not to be is the question? “Many Americans appear to believe that our constitution has been a model for the rest of the democratic world.” (Page 42, Dahl) The system as an important set of institution that may or may not be formal, the electoral arrangement systems with other political institutions can impact the way they function. (Page 43) Does our constitution provide a federal benefit system or unitary benefit system? Bicameralism is two chambers in representation. Most governments are stronger under unitary systems. Does a unitary

Unequal representation also exists in the other federal systems. (Page 49) Madison failed to protect the least privileged minorities. (Page 52) Strong judicial review of national legislation for example, “in the older democracy systems federal courts can knock down anything against the national constitution.”(page 55,56) judges bring their own ideology, biases, and preferences to bear” This continues to add to unequal representation as a model in regards to our party systems, presidential systems and so the Framers created a democratic version of the parliamentary system, (page 65) Why other countries became a parliamentary democracies? Our system, pseudo-democratization versus parliamentary, the framers did not have a model to inspire them. (70) “Framers rejected and feared—and by combining the functions of a head of state with those of a chief executive the president would be the equivalent of monarch and prime minister rolled into one. I wonder whether the presidency that has emerged is appropriate for a modern democratic country like ours.” (Page 72, Dahl)

Chapter 4: Electing the President Independence for all men through system of powers, rights, privileges/resources (Midterm) First phase of answer, weaved throughout report, thesis sentence. (Revision) The Electoral College came about on August 6; the Committee on Detail brings in a draft of the Constitution that calls for the election of the president by Congress. (pae74) the delegates voted, so the president was chosen by electors. One flaw found, in case of a tie vote, the Electoral College, the choice will be made by the Senate from the five highest candidates. Combining this additional power with other parts of the plan still did not change the dangers of the tendencies to aristocracy. The people wanted a choice to be part o f the process. The Electoral College was to give them that equal representation. Hamilton’s later rationalization was an alternative solution. 1800s, the elections defects were more serious the partisan politics transformed the electors into party agents. (Page 79, Dahl) 1. Inherent Democratic defects, popular votes versus electoral votes. 2. The unequal representation of voters 3. Losing though preferred by a majority 4. Winning with a minority of popular votes. Should we alter it or abolish it? The two needs for the Electoral College voting system is the protection for smaller states to have entitlement and need, to represent the least-privileged minorities rather than people who happen to live in the smaller states. The Electoral College failed to be used as the Framers had intended it to be used. (Side note: The majority has changed. Now the majority has become the “marginalized minority, the women, criminals and slaves—“workers”. So now what? They are still trying to find ways to create the majority as aristocrats—“educated, rich and privileged of power” even after the population becoming a majority as women, slaves-“workers”, criminals,)

Chapter 5: How Well Does the Constitutional System Perform? Bias (see above description) (Revision) The author compared the democracies in the established countries, 22 democratic systems that equally maintain their success in performing equally in maintaining in existence. These are the criteria for stability of a basic democratic institution: 1.military and police 2. A political culture supportive of democratic beliefs 3. Well-functioning economic order among others. (page94, Dahl) Still break downs can occur as the civil war, French Revolution in the United States. The debated issue is the stability of a


MEA Magazine& Journal P a g e | 39 presidential versus parliamentary systems, which most third world countries are duplicating the presidential system but is presidentialism the link to a breakdown phenomenon? Some scholars believe that a presidentialism will put on more of a strain on democracy then a parliamentary system. This author left this dispute unsettled. The message left for this point is that there’s no best constitutional system, and each country should tailor fit to the culture, traditions, needs, and possibilities of a particular interest, country. Disclaimer: (Without this getting so lengthy there’s so much to address in all these chapters. I tried to focus on one theme to summarize what I saw the main point was generated from. Each chapter had so much weight, the details of each comparison of Britain, Switzerland, and so forth, are very interesting facts of comparison and contrasts that it would be several papers to identify all the observations that this scholar was pointing out in this book. I am just gleaming one of many facets of his ideas about the constitution. The most interesting out of each chapter that I feel was the underlining message and hopefully what the basic answer to the question asked at large. Forecast of what I could not cover: 1. Democratic Effectiveness Chapter 6: Why Not a More Democratic Constitution? Beliefs and Freedom of Thinking “…judged guilty of casting stones at a national icon.” (Page 122 Dahl) I definitely agree with him that the constitution is held at a very high esteem but is more hype than actual substance. The barrier to political equality and human equality has been a stone to carry for a very long time. 1776, all men who weren’t thinking about extending a hand to women. Women were properties to their fathers and husbands. Nor did the Declaration include slaves, or free persons of African origins in all colonies that claimed right to become independent self-governing republics’ territories. (Page 125, Dahl) It took 47 years later for Lincoln’s Gettysburg address that slavery was legally abolished in the United States by force of arms and constitutional enactment. It still took another century before the rights of African Americans to participate in political life. “Nor did our noble Declaration mean to include the people who for thousands of years had inhabited the lands that Europeans colonized and came to occupy.” (Page 125, Dahl) Still to this day, suffer from the effects of the dehumanization of that period. Though “equality” is seen as a worldwide outreach, the United States, Britain, France, Scandinavian countries, the Netherlands and others are attempting to incorporate this historical movement within its institution, practice and behavior. (Page 126, Dahl) “If we believe that all human beings are created equal, that they are endowed with certain inalienable rights that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…then we are obliged to support the goal of political equality.” (Dahl 138) Well said, Dahl. 1. MEA Magazine& Journal P a g e | 40 Chapter 7: Some Reflections on the Prospects for a More Democratic Constitution Culture, Equality and Privileges Our structure of our constitution begins: 1 Federalism, our framers knew they could not abolish the states. 2. Presidentialism: Our citizens that have invested cannot depart with the idea of not having a head, a power in charge. 3. Inequality in representation which stems from the fixed allocation of two senators to each state without regard to population in numbers. 4. Electoral College: Still finding excuses to not give population a vote and to isolate their vote, so we still see a problem of a system without a population vote. 5. Hidden Costs and Uncertainties: The fear of change is the large hidden costs and great uncertainty for a more consensual or majoritarian system. The powers are our rights, resources and the supreme courts. The role of the Supreme Court is limited at the state level; Dahl feels it should be extended to the federal level as well. “..Democratic political system: rights to express one’s views freely, to assemble, to vote, to form and to participate in political organizations, and so on.” …should also have the authority to overturn federal laws and administrative decrees that seriously impinge on any of the fundamental rights that are necessary to the existence of.” (Page 153 Dahl) Chapter 8: Further Reflections: Changing the Unwritten Constitution Change the whole way of thinking, the concept of what they wanted for themselves, each other and their families, the opportunity to be independent thinkers. The 70 years before the Civil War and the 90 years after the end of Reconstruction in 1876, amendments are made to show that the written constitution can be changed. Though we are not seeing equal representation of citizens through the Senate, amendments still can be made to the constitution which is a political resource. The consequences for unequal representation are that small populations gain more resources advantage over the larger states. For example Wyoming’s annual share of federal expenditures is around $209 per capita compared to California’s $132 per capita. Then there’s the supermajority versus the majority rules. Most exaggeration comes from majority rules will over throw the democracy, but for example the Nazi party never received a majority of votes in a free and fair election, yet the Weimar Republic had existed for fewer than 15 years. So it shows either case that a majority or minority could overthrow a system. The winner takes all is an obvious disproportion representation. (Page 168 Dahl) Gerrymandering is a technique used to sway the votes using tactics to win a candidate, so in any case, “true” representation still is ignored. Alternatives to winner takes all is run off, preferential voting and proportional representation that ensures that votes come from the population and not just from a few. The hope is that a fair distribution of opportunities to act on those rights, and political resources necessary if citizens are to be able to take advantage of opportunities will depend on the participation and the reduction of huge disparities in the political system of resources. Both Text & Lectures, (Spitzer, pp)/Indicate both points of difference and also points of agreement

Our constitution is evolving. The beginning it is seem to be a selected few but in the end it appears to be more than a few invested. The ideas of the constitution are a plan that was a work in progress. Its changes have increased its value among a global perspective. My points of difference are that Spitzer is in agreement to the political system and Dahl is not, but they both agree that it is an argumentative platform of complexity and never ending adjusting. The difference where they agree is the process. Spitzer is acknowledging that it is a working network that meets the goals of freedom, while in my opinion Dahl stresses its delusion of that freedom and more a tool rather the process. Spitzer is more apt to conclude that the changes that are made were part of the process and Dahl would agree to a certain extent. (Spitzer Chapter 1, 2, 3) (Dahl Chapter 1, 2 3)


Summarize two of the Changes Dahl examines and sate your evaluation whether you favor it or oppose it

The run off, that the president is selected through the population and the most votes over 50 percent wins as a representative for the people. If there is not a strong candidate, the lesser of the two is bumped out and votes are continued. The second evaluation is the proportional representation that includes more votes of citizens at large rather than a few representing. Increase the Electoral College with more votes of the citizens voting at large. Even single member districts that are including more representation of majority of the votes in general rather than just a few voting. I oppose it because giving votes to the lesser of the two is still not giving the voters a choice to vote who they individually desire to have elected, but otherwise I agree that population of representation is more important than a number of votes by a few. 1D

Carefully State Your view of the strengths and weaknesses of the book

The strengths of the book is that Dahl, agree somewhat that the constitution needs some repair for equal representation for the people. Each vote should count. No person should have the privilege to cast a vote and their vote counts for more than one person. The weaknesses of the book are that he did not lay out the clear path of the â&#x20AC;&#x153;poor practicesâ&#x20AC;? of our constitution. It was still not enough information. As though, it was too hard to identify what was the hardship of the system. It was clear vaguely but it was hard for him to address the issue clearly or make a bold stance that his opinion or claim that the constitution is not suitable for our countryâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s new goals as a multi-cultural system. If his angle was directed toward seeing the constitution as a comprehensive plan, most comprehensive plans are updated or changed ever 10-15 years. Most needs change, so he did not address those needs for example he hit on the women suffrage, but the needs that women are still not getting policies changed to give them more resources. The political system was an overview in his ideas of functionality, but the weakness is how functional is it. He compared other countries, but he did not specify which country he considered the most functional country to give us a glimpse of their total democracy system and platform and the

He demonstrated one aspect with France, and the cost they are willing to pay to give their citizens voting rights and voting representation, but was he stating the stance that France was the most functional political system in our age? It was unclear what a role model was for our globalization of what was healthy or who was practicing a healthier form of democracy? He did make clear that each is its own, tailor made for each country and not one system is perfect or can be duplicated as a solution for all.


Describe current process in some detail

Our current political process is presidentialism and we include the congress, Electoral College, supreme courts and parties to represent the interests and representation of our voters rather than each vote counts it is one vote equal all. This is still not good in my eyes. !. Presidentialism: Though he spoke about the ideas of monarchy and aristocratic systems not playing a huge role in our democratic process. I find it still very evident in our U.S. politics. For example, one person still can find ways to manipulate in getting his way whether it is through gerrymandering, parties or media, one person with power, can rule a country without the interest of the people. The idea that it is still ran by an aristocratic system is that a few is still elected to control a population of people rather a population of people control a few people. The ideas that are so embedded, it will be hard to change the undertones of a republic society to a democratic one. We may call our system a democratic society, but it is still proven that our society is still a republic means to democracy through the Presidentialism process. 2.





Congress is not a substitute for the proportional representation, parliamentary system or single district members. It is a false creation of population representation or equal representation. It is a few people making decisions for the population of its district. The policies are made based on the bias of those that vote. One person make decisions instead passing the vote around to all the citizens, one person still is making the decisions for all people. It is a one foot in and one foot out of people choosing that representative instead of voting themselves on all the policies. Single District Members still an attempt to find equal representation in a few votes covering more than one person, but more people seated not enough, but more people that are seated for number of population representation per person. Electoral College is still another institution that gives one person value of having a superior vote over others. When can we just have one vote equals one vote, and tally them all up without cheating, manipulating, intimidating tactics, and so forth. It is seem to be so very difficult for such an intelligent society. Dahl expresses how these institutions still remain unequal. In class lectures and notes, these are still showing numbers that are not adding up to equal representation for the citizens. Still a form of aristocratic, monarchy or superiority in sheep clothing. Partisan Parties is still another institution that shows dominance over population. It is still a selected few or group that dominates the population in interests but if you are not part of that group then the idea that you get to vote is denied. Now making a representation of that vote is different then to apply your actual consensus. The effects for Presidentialism as Dahl, Lectures and Blackboard puts it, the idea of how we select the President is based on superiority. The majority cannot vote due to disenfranchising and marginalizing to prevent an actual representation, so therefore, the person that may have been selected will not be selected to represent those that are kept out of the equation. For an example, those who are criminals, homeless, poor, disabled, children and sick will not be represented or allowed to vote therefore the interests and stakeholders of these interests will not be represented when the President is elected due to their vote being removed from the equation. These issues of education, justice system, and health care issues will not be represented by the true face of the states. Most education issues are covered by the wealthy and educated so most of the policies are governed and determined for those that can afford the system. These effects show in our policies created. Congress: The effects are demonstrated by the powerful, educated and the rich once again, the superiority of our culture. The aristocratic population because most representatives that are selected may have above middle class society and most has education degrees, no criminal backgrounds, dysfunctional past, but still have well established incomes to show value in their representation. This leaves out in policies amendments or changes for the poor, disabled, sick and uneducated, and so forth without resources and opportunities in the political umbrella. For an example the tax brackets of most of our Congress is $60,000 or above. These policies are formulated from the “above reach” of the population they are represented showing once again the point of Dahl, unequal representation. Electoral College is definitely an unequal representation institution that one person can be worth more than one vote is how our current process as a claim to narrow the wide gap of consensus for the population of the people dominated by a few. Still, a cover up to what needs to be actually done to gain equal representation for one vote counts for one person, and the total of all votes. Single district members: an institution to cover more people in representation but still fall short because not everyone is seated at the political table to vote on policy and change/reform. There’s still not a consensus for all.

The US Politics is not just monarchy or aristocratic which could have been our only basis of rights, opportunities and resources. The change is allowing more people to be seated at the table through the suffrage, abolish act of slavery, and other voting rights given to marginalized people without the voice in the political formula. The change is that our constitution can be changed, it is written whereas some other countries it is not written, and there is a way to find change that gives us the opportunity to grow and not remain forced under an unhealthy environment without equality. The biggest change we have encountered is that even though our government is getting bigger, it is at the same time, the people involvement of its politics is growing as well. It is not just a few invested or have a stake into our county’s future but it is the people that participate and given the resources to have the right to participate whether it is indirectly or directly they are seated. I favor the changes of the amendments in the constitution because it is bound to equality. As it is developed, matured and changed, it becomes a true face of democracy rather republic or aristocratic. In my eyes either we all become one or one becomes all just as long as we all are seated, and the resources are evenly distributed. The main focus is the growing effects of change in our constitution and the political process of gaining resources, rights, opportunities for property and resources.

Learn deep breathing exercises by inhaling deep breaths to the belly. Start with smaller intervals, working your way up to the two-hour breathing exercises. Beginners start with five minutes, and then work up. The basic tools for exercise breathing are your props (e.g. music) and a retreat area. Schedule and plan appointment times for you to practice. Step 2:

Begin counting. The first thing to understanding breathing exercises and chanting is learning the basics, which includes counting out loud. This is a great way to begin your journey toward learning how to do breathing exercises while chanting. Once you learn how to count past 100 out loud, you can work up a rhythmic chant with your numbers while breathing. Say the numbers as though you are using every vowel and every letter to show the depth of the breath. Step 3:

Incorporate the chant with your breathing. Start with a simple beat. Find two words on two pitches. The breathing should be one with the chant. Find a speed to balance the breathing and the chant. Start your breaths from the belly. Speak from the gut, and build up slowly. Your muscles should release a word along with your exhaling breath. Your second word should be delivered with your inhale breath. Keep this up for five minutes. Step 4:

Continue on with this practice until you set your goal per session. Your chant should be a part of your breathing. Your energy will build as you progress in your chants and breathing. Identify the momentum for your session. Try using the phrase “Cleanse and Renew” as you chant. The exhale breath is going to push out the word "cleanse," and the inhale breath will bring in the word "renew." This is how you can use the steps for chanting along with your breathing exercises. Step 5:

The last step is to quiet your mind and spirit, so you can hear the rhythm and the beat. The chant is riding alongside your breathing. The final outcome is to find yourself at the end of your journey, refresh and renewed. The transformation will begin when you follow these steps. Safe Journey! Tips & Warnings •

Be consistent. Do these exercises for at least five minutes a day. A chant of two words or two sounds is an excellent way to stay focus on your breathing. Try to develop your skills within three months; keeping a journal of your progress is an excellent way to keep focus. If these are too easy, then use the chanting method with songs and repetition for a longer period. Using speed with the songs and repetition will allow you to feel challenged and create a complex muscle for your breathing exercises.

If you feel burning or pain while doing these breathing exercises, you are passed your limits. Your breath is coming from your chest and not your belly. Slow down you're moving way too fast. If you feel uncomfortable with these exercises, don't feel embarrassed.

The ideas are too intense, that the unconsciousness is automatically working on behalf of the conscious mind, but we are ignoring the facts before us that we can change and evolve to higher selves within this life time and not excuse it to the next life time. Our notions, that the conscious mind is the mind that is revealed daily the information, knowledge, common sense, and daily activities are our interaction with matter, we live according to the laws of reality. The notion of the unconscious mind that is the unrevealed information that we collect without knowledge, interpretation, translation of information given collectively to our mind that is stored within the unconscious. The theory that we have not been able to bring the unconscious mind to the forefront is an expression of what we think is not reality could possibly be a figment of our imagination so therefore the unconscious mind is that fiction. In collaboration of the unconscious mind and the conscious mind, I am gathering that we could possibly become a whole man or whole woman with extraordinary gifts. Carl Jung touched on the ideas of the collective unconsciousness working on mental disorders, but to take this theory to the next step. What if we addressed the issues that the mind can work on a comprehensive development through illness and health? It is evident that we are not receiving the understanding of our brain's activities in its entirety at this point of the game. We are still struggling with how we can best use our God selves and human selves as one self. It is an inner world and external world that we face the notions that we live in two worlds. We bridge into one world usually under illness rather health. We are faced with the dilemma of nervous breakdowns, criminal behavior and finally insanity or aging and decay of our body. In my study, I am beginning a life work to journey into the concept that we as a collective unconsciousness can become whole and healthy in a wellness system of translation and formulation of consciousness and unconsciousness using the right mediums to aid us into development and ultimately the next stages of evolution of social dynamics and civil dynamics of earth and heaven or universe. We can bridge the gap of these two universes within several tools of translation and interpretation. The concept of information and development of information will create the platform for the two sides of thinking to progress. Within the scope of understanding and expansion of understanding, we can delve into the realization of using the unconsciousness to develop the consciousness, and therefore, bridge the gap of healing and mystery of healing in regeneration and restoration of body, mind, heart and spirit. I think that we can use these theories as a foundation as well as the spiritual leaders of Jesus theories, and so forth, as puzzle pieces in translation. Some may call it learning how to code and encode the message or mediums of tools to aid the God man/woman and human/woman into one being. As a marriage, we are reaching a point of climax in our social and economy of wealth and wholeness. It is the season to continue in the research of expanding the life of man/woman. The opportunities to for humanity to evolve as civil beings working together as a unit and expanding the years of perserverance in age and maturity will rely on our breakthrough of the collective unconsciousness and consciousness of humanity and society. In all layers of consciousness, if we could tap into the


MEA Magazine& Journal P a g e | 48 collective unconsciousness without losing our mind, we could develop the cure to disease, the resolution to crime and war, and finally develop the eliminating process of death and decay within us, the body and spirit. It is evident that this research is far fetch, and some will ignore the claim that we can evolve to the next level of consciousness within the collective unconsciousness of information already given to update our progression within our lifetime. It is evident that if we ignore a concept as this, we leave ourselves without opportunity and progression into an idea of paradise, wholeness, health and opportunity for security, safety and wealth for everyone. This is not a utopia idea, but an opportunity that can become a possibility within our lifetime of opportunities in a technical age.

Montes Ireland I'm so tired of hearing that "we can't talk about politics" in this country, in polite company, or around the dinner table. I'm so tired of hearing, from friends or acquaintances that allow the world to happen to them, that "you're just so passionate about these kinds of things." As in politics. As if somehow 'politics' simply means an election between two candidates, or democrats versus republicans, or sarah palin's pursuit of the spotlight, or policy that affects one's tax bracket, and nothing else. As if politics aren't everywhere, everyday, in all of our lives, constantly informing and effecting all that we do, believe, and perpetuate, while shaping all our choices. To those who say I'm just "too passionate" about politics, I say: I am passionate about "these sort of things." I'm passionate about fairness, and about a quality of life for myself, my friends, my family, all of humanity, and the next generations. I'm passionate about human dignity, and a life that consists of more than acquiring goods, buying things, and consuming like Good Americans, so that we make hedge-fund managers and corporations super wealthy. I'm passionate about the right to love as we see fit and to take care of each other, this planet, and our neighbors, both in the U.S. and across the globe. I'm passionate about power, who benefits from it, who and what maintains it, and who is disenfranchised from it. I'm passionate that if the U.S. remains a super power, that it won't be because of Military Might, but because of education, invention, civil & human rights, justice, compassion and democracy. So tell me. Why is it that so many Americans are more comfortable discussing the lives of celebrities, than our own lives - and our quality of life? That we care more about taxes, property, and corporate rights, than we even know about civil and human rights? Do we really believe that those spoils of hypercapitalism matter more than the interconnectivity of the human experience? Have we completely abandoned our humanity in the pursuit of shopping? I write this as a woman who is often scorned by family and "friends" for speaking my truth. I pay dearly for my righteous feminist, queer, multi-racial woman of color, anti-racist outrage. I'm told to quiet down and know my place when I attempt to make connections between what we all do - and how these things lessen someone else's quality of life. Though I am tired, I can take the hits, the attacks by folks who don't like what I say and what I fight for... social, economic and racial justice. But this country, and our humanity, cannot continue to fend off the disease of hatred, injustice and indifference. ---Gas Prices is like another stem cell research in progress. How can we generate enough energy to keep up with the ever growing populace of workaholics chasing money that wonâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t stop running? We are far beyond our grandparents accomplishments because we have come to a season we love what we do. We are facing the ideas that work is play, and play is work. Slaves are enjoying their masterâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s sex, and the masters are enjoying the slaves desiring and wanting more sex. We are not in missing links to find freedom any longer. The march is almost over. The knees are aging and the ankles are swollen, the people are begging for more, so why change? The gas prices are rising in rates because the countries warfare is depleting the resources, and soon the industry will have to leave the country due to the recession, so the idea of use it all up while it is available is a strategic move on the part of the capitalist. The idea that we generate energy through gas is funny, and has been ignored for some time now, but since we are broke, it is starting to be an "it" factor. The crazy world we are becoming, it is seen though as a new world order. What in the world is Babylon? Is it supposed to be a paradise of wealthy and one language like Babel, or a broke down prostitute that canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t even get a dollar? These images are very harsh, and yet we use these images daily as symbols of power and education. As a society we do not mind,

It serves us right that we all end up in the grave, the death valley of the bone yard like dominoes, you play the numbers but find yourself empty handed, and then you win. We are going toward that concept each day. We are not trying to build a network of investing in people, but we are trying to build a network investing in the bone yard. We rather find ourselves empty handed or caught between a hard place when dealing a wrong hand. We must face it that life is throwing some serious curve balls, and the way we are adjacent to the problems, we are not aligning ourselves appropriately. It is like the last ending to a losing game. Do you just finish the game to say you finished the game, or do you call a time out, and change course, set up a different play, and fight for a foul play on the other team to getting a free throw shot in hopes to stay in the game one more round? Yes, we are going to use gas prices to do just the opposite. Allowing gas to rise is our society saying, let us put our hands up, and just finish the game. Too bad, and too sad, we were just one point behind.

My name is Rufus Raul Jenkins-Rhodes, no relation. I am just an everyday old dog with decent tricks. I am glad yall showed up cause I need some witnesses to watch my pain and to let me know I ain't trippin. How much does she think I owe her? Wait... Hold up a second... "When Your Car Broke Down, I Didn't Hesitate To Give You A Ride." Now she's a taxi. Let's put this to a dollar value. Once I get in the car its three bucks and every mile after that it's a dollar fifty. When I get in the cab I don't have to talk or talk about what I want to talk about. With her, I got to talk and I don't get to talk about what I want. I will subtract .50 cents per mile for that inconvenience. Plus I provide maintenance on the vehicle, this would come to about thirty dollars a month. As of January I didn't need the car, so she owes me on back maintenance. Should I mention that? Huh?... Man, I got to stop zoning out on her, i really might miss something. Nah! I borrowed money from her once and i properly paid her back. She always brings that up when she is trying to get over on me. She must have loan shark in the family. She's looking for interest, how much does a loan shark ask for in interest? I think 30%, maybe more. This female is creditor, trying to bleed me dry. Her new name is Sallie Moe. Thank God she isn't that good with math or I would be up the creek without a paddle and boat. "I Even Buy You Food When I Come Over, You rememb..." Ahh Ha! I knew it! Sallie MoeStrikes Again. She has been charging me for that, for a couple burgers. Oh, that hurts my heart. Wow, she got me on that one. Food plus delivery. That's at least $15 a meal. Wait!
