TRIP REPORTS Anglesea Heath and Otway Ranges Day Trip Sunday May 31st. There was a very small window between COVID 19 restrictions being relaxed and Parks Victoria closing these tracks on June 1. I listed the trip on the website and it was the quickest response ever so there was certainly some built up demand to get out on a trip. There were so many registered that I had to create 2 conveys. The weather had been fine for the preceding week but rain was forecast for the Sunday. Many of the tracks are not recommended in the wet but the drive to Winchelsea revealed fine and clear conditions. There were a few late cancellations but nine vehicles were all ready to leave at 9.30 am. Not ten as the club president (convoy 2 leader) was still on the highway. Martin remained while the rest of us headed down to the dirt road outside the vehicle testing centre to air down and wait. All arrived so it was a right turn into Haggarts Track and then Allardyce Track and into 4WD. The tracks were in good condition, with sections of sand and some good views across the Heath over Anglesea and the ocean. The old open cut mine and old power station chimney were prominent.
