If you have a birthday this month and it doesn’t appear above or if there was an error, please let us know.

Aries are fire signs and those born under this element are regarded in astrology as adventurous, active and outgoing. It won't matter where you go or how remote or unusual it is - from the Outback to the Antarctic - you can be sure that an Aries has been there before you .

Underneath their cool, calm and collected exterior, Taureans differ greatly from all the other signs of the zodiac. Taureans manage to discreetly stay apart from the crowd, even though they have a well-earned reputation for being socializers.

Welcome Newcomers! What wonderful new additions to our lovely neighborhood. Don’t forget to continue participating in all the activities listed in the “Happenings” on page 4. You’ve just moved into a group of kind-hearted, generous, and fun new friends! Kudos to all those who helped make this the

BEST EVER welcome party!

April 6 - California Poppy Day

April 14 - Nat’l Dolphin Day Nat’l Dolphin Day began as a way to raise awareness and ultimately end the hunting of dolphins. Interesting facts: 

There are 40 species of dolphins, but the most common is the Bottlenose.

They stay with their mothers for a long time; some stay up to 8 years.

Dolphins are nurturing toward sick or injured animals in their pod.

The California poppy is our state flower.

A Garden Party Poet, Jennifer D’Andrea

Marvelous scenes outside my window: How nature manifests itself Right up through the middle of a Crack in the pavement. Tulip Hyacinth Daffodil In groups scattered everywhere: A garden party Tumultuous multitudes of Sensuous people out walking and tossing Their hair through neighborhoods. The still lingering sun Is just enough to raise my hope And I smile at the wonderful Parade outside my window.

Comedian, Al Rybar! Always a good laugh! When I went to get my driver’s license renewed, our local DMV was packed.

The line inched along for almost an hour until the man ahead of

me finally got his license. He inspected his photo for a moment and commented to the clerk, “I was standing in line so long, I ended up looking pretty grouchy in this picture.” The clerk looked at his picture closely, and reassured him, “It’s okay. That’s how you’re going to look when the cops pull you over anyway.”

Comedian, Glenn Geissinger! RIP...Heaven is now having some good laughs! I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving. This might save you the cost and embarrassment of being arrested for DUI. As you know, people have been known to have unexpected brushes with the authorities from time to time, often on the way home after a “social occasion” with family or friends. Well, this year, it happened to me. I was out for the evening and had more than several margaritas. Although relaxed, I still had the common sense to know I was slightly over the limit. That’s when I did something I had never done before. I took a taxi home. On the way home there was a police DUI Check Point, but since it was a taxi they waved it past, and I arrived home safely and without incident. These roadblocks can be anywhere, and I realized how lucky I was to have chosen to take a taxi. The real surprise to me was that I had never driven a taxi before. I don’t know where I got it. And now that it’s in my garage I don’t know what to do with it. If you want to borrow it, give me a call. 14

Home Design to Help You Stay Safe Tips to aid people whose eyesight may be starting to dim. (source: Evelyn Spence, AARP Magazine)

Declining vision doesn’t mean you have to give up your autonomy. Nate Berkus, of Nate & Jeremiah by Design on TLC, is working with My Home in

Sight, a website working tools and information to adapt living spaces as eyesight changes. When I was a teenager, my grandmother’s vision started to fail. I have vivid memories of her trying to explain how difficult it was to navigate her own apartment. This feels like an opportunity to give back to her. Start designing with color and contrast. It’s really important for people with declining vision because it helps define the location of their furniture. Put two dark pillows on the sides of a neutral sofa. Place a bright, patterned throw over the arm of a chair so you know exactly where to sit down.

Lamps at

each end of the sofa can help to orient you. With declining vision, you can’t have a junk drawer. If you need to replace batteries to your remote, you can’t be digging through stuff. In your linen closet, put things in baskets; that way you can take them to the kitchen, where it’s better lit. Buy coffee mugs that contrast with the color of your countertop. The borders of things are really important - where the area rug meets the floor, where the edge of a stair is. Use contrast tape on the treads of steps or to border out the area rug. It takes 10 minutes to do and doesn’t look ugly!

April Sudoku How to solve sudoku puzzles No math is required to solve a sudoku. You only need logic and patience. Simply make sure that each 3x3 square region has only one instance of the numbers 1-9. Similarly, each number can only

appear once in a column or row in the larger grid. The difficulty on this puzzle is easy.
