Mauvaise Graine's Covers | 1996-2000

MG#1 | July/August 1996. The beginning of one of the greatest adventures in my life, if not the greatest. Funny how things are. Twelve years later, here I am, writing about the past, as if it was just yesterday. The drawing - like the following four – was made by Craig John McCafferty, a jobless English artist I had met when I was living in Bath, UK. The other funny thing is that a few months after the magazine was launched, a publisher took the name of Mauvaise graine in France, publishing mostly prose from older times: Louise Michel, Che Guevara... The other funny thing is that they used the character at the bottom of the page as an icon on their website. It cannot be anything else than a coincidence.

MG#2 | September 1996. A cow looking totally lunatic because that was the time when we started to hear about the mad cow disease and I felt sorry for these peaceful creatures I could see grazing around the family home where I was born.

MG#4 | November 1996. Craig had not been inspired by the authors featured in this issue. I used one of his drawing dating back from his school years. He was not happy about it saying that it was not what he was bound to draw anymore. Yet, I used it as it corresponded to the poems published.
