BEING PREPARED FOR LIFE
Participation in CCA prepares the MGS girl for life. It provides her with a sense of belonging and gives her an anchor to a community. She learns to work in a team and establish a network of peers, teachers, coaches and instructors within the school and with other schools. These are opportunities for her to build relationships, practise social and leadership skills and in doing so, grow in confidence for her future. Clubs and Societies allow students to explore and extend their interests in wide-ranging and specialised areas which may be knowledge-based or skill-based. They are honed in information, communication and technical skills for the digital world. Sports develop in students a sense of resilience, robustness, fair play and team spirit. They learn to play as Team MGS and understand what it means to train hard and stay focused on the game. Visual and Performing Arts instil a sense of poise and graciousness in students and provide them with the experience of showcase and performance. They acquire an appreciation for the rich culture and heritage of a multi-racial society. Uniformed Groups aim to make good citizens of the students by inculcating in them self-reliance, resilience, discipline and a spirit of service to school and the community.
GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Through sustained participation in CCA, the MGS girl grows and develops progressively in CCA-specific knowledge and experiences. They provide opportunities to grow her passion in specific areas and learn about what it means to prepare purposefully and represent the school in competitions and performances. The school places an emphasis on building emotional intelligence, social interaction skills amongst peers and exposure to students of diverse backgrounds. Our CCA programme offers excellent platforms for students to acquire core values, social and emotional competencies and the emerging 21st Century Competencies such as self-directedness, collaboration, innovation, compassion and leadership necessary for the globalised world we live in.
