Big Welcome to Our New Priests! by Sis. Gina Agsalon The flock of Mother of Good Counsel Parish bids farewell to its former shepherds Fr. Andy, Fr. Bong and Fr. Abet. As they say, all goodbyes mean new beginnings. And as we say thank you to them, we give a warm welcome to our new Church leaders who will steer our parish towards our goals: Fr. Agustin S. Ty, OSA, Fr. Apolinario L. Mejorada, OSA, Fr. Vincent Liwag, OSA and Fr. Elizer Pelingo, OSA. In the Bible, Luke 2:15, the

shepherds said, “Let us go as far as Bethlehem (Chrysanthemum) and see what the Lord has made known to us.” Our new fathers came from as far as IloIlo, Bicol and Bohol to follow God’s call to lead here in Laguna. We thank God for them for answering God’s call to “Keep watch over yourselves and over the whole flock the Holy Spirit has placed into your care. Shepherd the Church of the Lord which He has won at the price of His own blood.” (Acts 20:28)

Binyagan ng Parokya by Bro. Paeng Dionio Our parish conducted the annual Binyagan ng Parokya last April 14, 2012. This project has always been envisioned as part of the yearly fiesta celebration. Members of different church organizations especially the Legion of Mary would go around the poor sectors of our parish searching for children who would be included in the program. This year, a total of forty children up to 11 years of age were enlisted in the mass baptism, some

of whom were siblings. Members of the Parish Catechetical Ministry conducted the PreJordan Seminar for the parents & god-parents last April 13, 2012. We have always taken our inspiration from our Lord himself who said "Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" (Mathew 19:14). We welcome the newly baptized children to our Community of Faith.

In response to the call of Pope Benedict XVI to make better use of the Internet and the Social Media in sharing God’s Word, the Social Communications Ministry of Mother of Good Counsel Parish launched its very own Parish Website (www.mgcparish.net) last January 29, 2012. Since its launching, it has already reached a total of 4,582 page views with 837 unique visitors and still counting. If you still haven’t visited it yet, check it now. Mgcparish.net was developed by a team of five members:

Clarion Oriondo, Charles Oriondo, Mafe Rimando, Rebecca Cuñada and Dan Molde through the guidance of Sis. Gina Agsalon together with members of the Parish Youth Commission. With the vision of having an easy access to the Parish information, the website provides the Parishioners with latest updates from Church activities, feast days of Saints and other articles about the Catholic Faith. The website also serves as a medium for church organizations to update the Parishioners of

Awesome Foursome: Discovering the New Fathers of the Community Welcome to the second issue of our parish bulletin! We, the Editorial team, would like to thank you for supporting our first issue and hope we can satisfy you as we keep you posted with new updates and information about the recent activities in our parish. In the Bible, we came to know how the Apostles preached the Word of God everywhere they go, forming churches along the way. In the history of the Church, we also learned how our Church Fathers were in unity in faith and firm in their belief in Christ. Each of them remarkably contributed to the building up of the Church and the development of Christianity. In this issue, we will not just update you with the latest happenings in our parish, but we will reveal some interesting facts about our four new priests of the parish – Fr. Boy, Fr. Jing, Fr. Vincent and Fr. Eli, so that you can get to know a little

bit more about their lives, their work and contribution in the community, whom we can refer to as our new Fathers of our Church. As laity of our community, we have to do our part to help and pray for them so that they will have the humility, courage and conviction of the faith to carry on Christ’s mission. May you be enlivened as we continue to bring you good news and better services from our parish. Enjoy reading!

This year is declared by the Holy Father, Benedict XVI as the year of FAITH. The object of our faith is Christ Jesus our risen Lord. He is the heart and head of the Church. He challenges the disciples and us, the present ones to evoke a renewal of faith and confidence in the presence of Christ living among us.

Well, here we are again… we have said our goodbyes to our former Church leaders and now,… giving our warm welcome to our new shepherds!

Mother of Good Counsel Parish. Our encounter with the risen Christ is an encounter of faith. The presence of Christ in our midst is also a sort of absence. "We proclaim his death until he comes". Our sinfulness both individual and collective, can get in the way of the Lord's presence and frequently it does But in spite of all this, the Lord is present with us. We should never forget that without the community of believers, the Church, no one would know anything about Jesus Christ at all., in spite of our failings, we do keep his memory alive, in spite of our half-heartedness we do make him present in our world, in spite of our difficulties and doubts we do proclaim our faith that he is our Lord and our God. "My Lord and my God!"
