About mFLOR mFLOR is a specialist and market leader when it comes to LVT design floors. Thanks to the unique, true-to-nature designs and innovative, in-house production method, our LVT floors are virtually indistinguishable from real wood or natural stone. Natural Touch We use a special method called ‘In Register Embossing’ when producing our Authentic ranges. This is also known as Natural Touch. With this method, the surface structure follows the design, which makes the LVT floors look and feel exactly like the natural wood product.

True to Nature At mFLOR, we attach a great deal of importance to designs that stay true to nature. In nature, no two trees are the same and every type of stone is unique. For that reason, we use state-of-the-art printing techniques when producing our floors, which means that every single strip or tile looks different. And that is important to us.

Quality floors from every angle At mFLOR we not only aim to produce the most beautiful floors; we also focus on sustainability and safety. We always ensure the highest quality possible and the composition of the product is important. For that reason, we only use raw materials and substances with low emissions at mFLOR. This enables us to minimise our impact on air quality.

Lifestyles by mFLOR mFLOR introduces: Lifestyles by mFLOR. To design your personal, unique interior, it is important to look at more than just the floor. Which style suits you the best? To support you making the right choice, mFLOR has cooperated with interior designers to develop five Lifestyles:

CLASSIC

Warm, stately, large heights and detailed, for example ornaments, chandeliers etc.

INDUSTRIAL

Characteristic, rough, robust and visible irregularities such as pipework and masonry.

MODERN

Shiny stainless steel and leather combined with rigid, straight lines and plenty of black, white and grey. Less is more!

RURAL

Comfortable, peace and space. Inspired by farm life, but stylish and contemporary. Warmth and a cosy atmosphere are the most important conditions.

SCANDINAVIAN

Scandinavian – What characterises this style is the rigid design, the simplicity, calmness, geometric shapes and the use of materials with a natural appearance. All these are the ingredients for a design with clean lines yet suggests warmth.

AUTHENTIC OAK 56282 WATER OAK

All our ranges have been divided in these five Lifestyles, to assist in your deciding process. 7

Lifestyles by mFLOR CLASSIC

T

he classic interior eXudes a warm and dramatic atmosphere. It could also be described as stately, thanks to the height that is so typical of this style. Height can be especially emphasised by fitting panelling, which could be made of upholstered material, wood or a similar plastic product with a natural-looking finish, such as LVT, as long as it is in keeping with the classic living style. Ornaments, chandeliers, mirrors, rugs, paintings, large items of furniture and a mantelpiece form a cohesive whole in the design of the space. Warm colours and materials are used, such as bordeaux, pine green, aubergine and earth tones ranging from beige to gold. The floors primarily feature marble, French oak or cherry in combination with highly decorative carpets. Curtains made of thick velour or velvet reach down to the floor and wallpaper features a decorative pattern. Busy, yet balanced; that is how the classic interior could best be described.

LIVING STYLE TIP:

The classic interior complements the rural living style. By combining both styles, you can create your ideal living style. Make it more understated and more neutral by adding rural-style accents, or indeed busier and warmer by taking more inspiration from the classic look. Mix and match as much as you like!

8

INDUSTRIAL

A

n industrial-style interior cannot be defined as one particular look. Rather, the intention is to think beyond those defined boundaries. The characteristic large, open spaces combined with the use of rough, robust materials and visible ‘irregularities’ such as pipework and masonry are typical of this living style. This look uses natural colours, but then in a slightly different way. You might see anthracite with a marbled effect, bottle-green, petrol-blue

or cognac. In an industrial-style interior, you often find coarse materials used, such as steel, concrete, leather, stone, iron and wood on walls and floors. An industrial-style interior can therefore appear rather cold, but that can easily be remedied by using alternative materials that look the same as the original, but without the downsides. An eXample would be LVT floors with a concrete look; soft and warm, but at first glance indistinguishable from real concrete.

LIVING STYLE TIP : Keep it spacious. An industrial-style interior is inspired by factory architecture, and the purpose here was primarily practical use. To get this living style exactly right, you should therefore choose understated colours and large, robust and sturdy objects, and keep things simple.

9

Lifestyles by mFLOR MODERN

10

S

hiny stainless steel and leather combined with rigid, straight lines and plenty of black, white and grey. Look familiar? These are the most common features of a modern interior. This clean-cut living style often uses luXury materials such as chrome, oak and natural stone. The phrase ‘less is more’ is often used to describe a modern interior and this is why smooth materials such as leather, glass and plastic are used. In addition to the effect of rigidity, these materials also provide contrast and create optical space. Colours remain light and modest, with the exception of accessories such as a painting, a cabinet or a fruit bowl. The condition, however, is that these accessories are all exactly the same colour.

LIVING STYLE TIP : By adding soft materials, it is easy to make the generally minimalist and rigid interior appear more welcoming. These might include an attractive carpet, adding a sofa with organic shapes or a fitting a softer floor. For the latter option, let yourself be inspired by the mFLOR LVT floor ranges. Thanks to a design that stays true to nature and the smooth surface, the floors fit perfectly within a modern interior. The soft and easy-care material increases living comfort significantly.

RURAL

A

rural-style interior is inspired by farm life, but stylish and contemporary, of course. This living style seems to be geared towards creating peace and space. The kitchen usually forms the focal point and the colours used complement the colours you find outdoors. We use earth tones such as beige, taupe, olive, light grey and white. The materials used are as natural as possible, or offer the best possible reproduction of the natural product. Floors and tables have a wooden appearance that radiates warmth, but natural stone, wool, wicker, leather and pure linen also often feature in the rural living style. Floors, walls and window coverings are coordinated together as closely as possible. The most important condition for achieving a rural-style interior is ultimately the comfortable, cosy atmosphere, and one that it is comfortable to live in.

LIVING STYLE TIP :

A rural-style interior can be achieved with any budget. An old wooden cabinet can be given a new lease of life with a new lick of paint, your worn-out table top will look brand-new in no time by sticking on your LVT floor off-cuts, and your sofa can become a little more ‘rustic’ by laying lots of cushions or a throw over it. Be creative!

11

Lifestyles by mFLOR SCANDINAVIAN

A

well-known department store has set the tone for Scandinavian interiors. What characterises this style is the rigid design, the simplicity, calmness, geometric shapes and the use of materials with a natural appearance. All these are the ingredients for a design with clean lines yet suggests warmth. The use of colour in this interior style is limited to light tones, such as white, light grey and pastel colours. The latter is used to keep everything as natural-looking as possible while still adding a splash of colour. The use of material is simple: the bare wooden look is sufficient for furniture, floors, walls and sometimes even ceilings.

12

LIVING STYLE TIP : If you find all those natural tones a little too understated, you could add accessories with familiar geometric prints. These could be cushions, posters or wallpaper. By choosing these in bright colours, you can add colour to your interior without risking a clash of styles! There are now also many options available for floors. The alternatives to standard plain wooden floors are not only stylish but also offer advantages. As well as keeping in warmth and being easy to care for, the various laying patterns and colours can also form a surprising starting point for your Scandinavian interior.

Natural Touch Visible structures and knots you can really feel. A particular structure can be added to the wear layer of LVT floors, and we do this in order to make the floor look even more like real wood. We call this method ‘embossing’. At mFLOR, we go one step further when it comes to creating true-to-life LVT floors. The most recent development is ‘In Register Embossing’, which we also refer to as ‘Natural Touch’. With this method, the structure in the wear layer follows the design of the film layer exactly, so that all floor strips look and feel just like the natural wood product. In short, if you can see knots, the ‘Natural Touch’ ensures you will actually be able to feel them too. All mFLOR design floors with the ‘Authentic’ suffix feature this special ‘In Register Embossing’ technology.

Feel the difference!

mFLORCONTACT Floating floors 30-05 mFLORCONTACT is a new method that can be used to install design floors without using adhesive. This method involves the use of a fine absorbent textile weave that is applied to the underside of the floor piece during manufacture. This weave is impregnated with a special non-setting resin and forms a strong, non-permanent bond with the sub-floor. mFLORCONTACT design floors are available in the 30-05 ranges. These ranges are 3mm thick and feature a 0.55mm wear layer, which makes them suitable for use in large-scale construction projects, such as shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, schools and public buildings. MODERN LIFESTYLE 77

mFLOR and health mFLOR places health at the heart of the development and production of all its design floors. In our view, a healthy living environment starts with choosing the right foundation: your floor. The question of how our floors can make an even better contribution to your health therefore forms our starting point in producing our floors, whether for residential or business use, now and in the future. The extent to which our floors influence your health is important in helping us answer that question. This might seem like overstating it a little, but do you ever spend any time considering how much time you spend in certain rooms every day? You probably don’t think about it enough. That is why we have made a list of all influences for you.

78

We have distinguished the following elements in relation to health: ៑ Health and safety. In order to ensure a good, healthy internal environment, the floor must be neutral in all (safety) aspects. This means that emissions must be very low and that a floor must exceed all the official national and international standards set for floors. ៑ Health and hygiene. In order to ensure good hygiene, our floors must be easy to clean, without the use of numerous and/or aggressive cleaning agents. In order to prevent or reduce allergies, it must be easy to remove fine particulate from the floor. An effective mat at the entrance (front door and rear door) prevents dirt, water and dust being brought into your home or work environment. ៑ Health and wellbeing. This concerns other factors that contribute towards your wellbeing. Floors

make an important contribution to the acoustics and the perceived temperature of a room. You can also help to determine the atmosphere in your home or office through your choice of design or colour. You are able to create a living or working environment in which you feel completely at home. In short, a floor can contribute more towards your wellbeingthan you may have previously thought, and this is where mFLOR can offer attractive, high-quality,safe and healthy solutions.

79

With our planet in mind

Emissions As health and the environment are extremely important to mFLOR, all of our design floors have very low emission values. There is good reason why we have been certified by the DIBt (German Centre of Competence for Construction). Unfortunately, there are no European standards in place as yet with regard to emissions. In addition to the national standards, various voluntary standards have been developed in this area. All of these standards are assessed on the basis of standardised laboratory test methods. This wide range of standards can make things quite confusing. For this reason, Eurofins - a prominent international test laboratory - decided to develop its own, more comprehensive ‘Indoor Air Quality’ standard. Continuing from this, an ‘Indoor Air Quality Gold Standard’ has been developed, which involves tests on an even greater number of substances and under which the permissible levels of emissions are lower than under any other national standard.

The high quality of mFLOR products makes them highly durable. The physical properties of mFLOR products ensure that the floors are easy to clean with a limited amount of water and without using any harmful chemicals.

COMPARATIVE

mFLOR

At mFLOR, we are aware of the environment and our surroundings on an almost daily basis. We invest continually in environmentallyfriendly products and production processes. Our production plant is certified to ISO-14001 and this means that the impact of production on the local environment is neutral. mFLOR products have been developed for maximum durability with minimal weight, so that the energy costs of transport are minimised.

Total Volatile Organic Compounds in μg/m3 after 28 days As well as exceeding the requirements of DIBt, French A+ air quality standard and Eurofins Gold Standard, mFLOR products also comply with: M1 standard (NS-EN 15251-2007) for buildings designed to BREEAM NOR standard.

mFLOR products are also eligible to score points when used in buildings designed to LEED protocols. www.indoor-air-comfort.com

This demonstrates that: I The most stringent European standards allow a total VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emission rate of 1000 μg/m3.

I The Eurofins voluntary standard (i.e. not legally binding) allows a total VOC emission rate of 160 μg/m3.

I The test results show that mFLOR products emit a mere 27 μg/m3 of VOC, guaranteeing a minimal impact on air quality when you opt for mFLOR.

Composition of the product Chemicals that may be harmful to health or the environment are classified centrally within Europe by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. This is carried out using the ‘Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)’ system. For specific high-risk products, such as toys and childcare items that children might put in their mouths, precise requirements dictate which chemicals may or must not be used in these products and in which quantities.

Eat safely off the floor! At mFLOR, we prioritise safety and health above everything else. That is why our design floors not only comply with the most stringent standards of the ECHA for interior applications, they are laid in accordance with the same standard that is set for plastic materials in toys and care products for your child. If our production team had their way, you could eat off the floor!

mFLOR construction mFLOR design floors are structured as follows: The image shows the standard product structure of an mFLOR floor. All floors longer than 122 cm feature an additional layer of fibreglass fleece between the back and the film layer. This guarantees a stable product, even in large dimensions.

mFLOR design floors consist of multiple high-quality layers and environmentally-friendly materials. mFLOR is available in wood, stone and concrete designs. These designs are barely distinguishable from the real material, yet quieter, more durable, water-resistant and easier to clean.
