MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear members and friends, The year 2018 is now tagged with the biggest political change since the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963. The voters have strongly expressed their wish for change and it is with a certain apprehension that many of us have waited for the transition to be officialised and the new prime minister to be appointed. It is, therefore, a relief to observe how peacefully the change was acknowledged and proved to those who still had some doubts that democracy and the voice of the Rakyat is more than a myth! The new ruling coalition will probably need some time to find its way and with such a big change, we are confident that Malaysia will pursue its path of business friendliness, economic stability and growth, in order to confirm its regional position, which we have been supporting for many years now: the overall best regional activity location for business in ASEAN. This statement had again been confirmed over the past year for CCIFM with a trend of new prospects for setup, inquiries for operations relocations from neighbouring countries, the confirmation of multiple industrial projects and the takeover by French groups of local companies. To quote our Ambassador, H.E. Frederic Laplanche: “We have been very busy with opening ceremonies this year!”. That says it all. Therefore 2017 was once again, a year of growth for CCIFM. Growth in events and growth in services, in particular for our incubator activities, which pushed us to expend with more business centre space. CCIFM also being a bilateral chamber, the year was also marked by the further improvement of our relations with MIDA via an official MOU signed during our recent annual Gala Night. CCIFM as a key network and service provider has grown in line with the French presence in Malaysia over the past 27 years. In order to fulfil this mission, to maintain a momentum of continuous improvement and services aligned with your needs, it is important to receive our member’s regular feedbacks. We thank you again for your continuous support. Gilles WAELDIN President

MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR Dear members and friends, As reflected in this annual Report, 2017 has been for CCI FRANCE MALAYSIA a year of focus on our action towards the support of the development of French companies in Malaysia though improved services and expansion of our network in Malaysia and France. The effective development of our 980sf additional facility in 1MK, located in Mont Kiara and nearby the French school has received a good response, with currently 8 companies using the facility. Added to the Plaza Sentral Business Centre running at full capacity, it means that CCIFM is currently hosting and assisting 35 French companies, a figure that is placing Malaysia among the largest French Business Support Centre among the network of the 120 French Chambers of Commerce and Industry overseas. This figure is however bound to increase with facilities already set up in Kota Kinabalu as well as upcoming developments in Johor Baru and in Kuala Lumpur City Centre with the set up by summer 2018 of a new 2,500 square feet facility with 6 offices and 16 work stations. Consequently, the financial report for 2017 indicates that CCIFM support services have globally increased by 20% justifying the over 650,000 RM invested over the last 5 years on that activity. On the network expansion, CCIFM has focused on the development of its presence in Malaysia with successful events taking place on the East Coast, Penang and Johor Baru. For East Malaysia and while French Business presence in Kota Kinabalu is already established, the focus will be on Sarawak for 2018. On the French side, CCIFM successfully conducted a trade road show with MIDA and ISKANDAR with the support of the network of French Chambers of commerce in the French regions. Meanwhile and on the associative part, CCIFM has also set specific support initiatives towards the growing number of French Entrepreneurs, estimated as over 150 pending our upcoming census in 2018. On a more general basis, CCIFM is working closely with the French Economic Department of the French Embassy and Business France for, among others, the promotion of the VIE program (CCIFM assist in average 15 VIE every year in Malaysia) and the promotion of Malaysian investment in France and the image of France. More than ever CCIFM team is at your disposal to assist for the development of your activities in Malaysia and in the ASEAN region!
