Composition Road bed No data. Base Class 3 geotextile; Leca® 10-20 mm (250 kg/m3), thickness: 0.5-1.5 m; Completely wrapped in geotextile, overlap: 0.5 m, overlaps stuck down with bitumen. Subsoil Bad subsoil (no details known).

Lengthways crack in the middle of the road.


Building method Partial soil replacement 1. Excavation of surrounding earth to intended height; 2. Laying of the geotextile; 3. Application and spreading of the Leca® fill with a digger on caterpillar tracks (pressure on tracks < 50 kN/m); 4. Compaction with bulldozer or vibroplate (3-4 passes); 5. Wrapping and covering of Leca® with geotextile to protect it from infiltration by the surrounding earth; 6. Construction of the road bed.
