ABOVE Cutting time and costs in half at the hairdressers, while still getting great service in a classy new salon, is now a reality in Rangiora.
he Cutting Room, launched this Spring, does away with washes and colouring to focus on the cut. The time you want a haircut is usually now – so there’s no appointments either. Welsh-born Jay Boswell always wanted her own salon so when opportunity knocked in the redeveloped historic 1868 building (previously Robbie’s Bistro), Jay and her husband, Alan, didn’t hesitate. With its original façade, black and white grandeur, high ceilings and chic contemporary interior, The Cutting Room occupies the first space when entering the new retail premises. “It was exciting watching it take shape. People say we look expensive, but we’re not!” she says. Jay and Alan have over two decades experience, and are joined by Sharon and Catherine. Together the chatty experts create a relaxed buzz. Polished concrete flooring, fresh minimalist décor, and edgy signage, complete the spacious salon.
If you need anything from a fringe or beard trim to a complete restyle – just pop in. The comfortable waiting area, if you indeed have to wait, showcase’s fabulous styling products from $20. “The men’s black gel which disguises those grays has been flying off the shelves,” Jay says. With a loyalty card, the 10th haircut is free. From $18 for men’s cuts and $24 for ladies, it’s affordable and convenient to bring the whole family in. Visit The Cutting Room at 112 High Street, Rangiora from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am to 1pm.
