FINDING SAN JOSE

MY FAIR LADY

Fri, 10pm, $15 Pure Lounge, San Jose

Sat, 8pm, $12+ Akiyama Wellness Center, San Jose

Sat, 8pm, $26+ Saratoga Civic Theatre

The man behind the 2012 house banger “Molly” as well as that remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness”—yeah, you know the one—Cedric Gervais, knows a thing or two about getting dance floors moving. Born in France, Gervais relocated to Miami Beach when he was just 19. The young Gervais cut his teeth spinning in a number of clubs in the nightlife mecca of South Beach. The EDM producer’s latest single, “Touch The Sky,” featuring Digital Farm Animals and Dallas Austin, boasts more than 97,000 plays on YouTube. John Beaver opens with a supporting set. (NV)

San Jose-based cellist, producer and artistic director Cellista (née Freya Seeburger) is a classical musician with deep roots in hiphop, metal and electronic music. Her latest venture, Finding San Jose, is an ode to the city she calls home, and features titles such as “St. James Park and “A Conversation at Trial’s.” Cellista has transformed her full-length album into theatrical form by interweaving film, dance and music into a “stage poem.” Choreographed by Lilith Ransom of Ransom Dance and MojoCeVille of Haus Serpens Cabaret, the piece debuted to great acclaim in San Francisco. Now it comes home. (NV)

South Bay Musical Theatre presents their production of the 1956 classic My Fair Lady—the story of a poor, cockney flower girl, who strives to climb her way into polite society with the help of brilliant but crotchety language tutor. Ray D’Ambrosio and Erin Reis star in this rendition as Henry Higgins and Eliza Doolittle respectively. Other notable cast members this time around include Jay Steele playing Alfred P. Doolittle, who was a fantastic addition to City Lights’ production of The Elephant Man last year. The opening night gala will feature a complimentary bubbly reception after the show. Runs through June 10. (YK)

STIKMON’S STAND Sat, 7pm, $15 The Ritz, San Jose Larry “Stikmon” Woods has done a lot for Silicon Valley’s cultural landscape. A professional contractor, he’s worked on many bars and restaurants in the South Bay. And as former owner of The Cactus Club, he helped bring numerous rising acts to the SoFA District during its last heyday in the late ’90s and early 2000s. An Army veteran, he now finds himself on the front lines in a battle against cancer. In an effort to help Woods in his fight, The Ritz is hosting a benefit concert headlined by Kung Fu Vampire and featuring a slew of other local acts. (NV)
