Qiumiao Xu ARTIST’S BICYCLE SCULPTURES A BIG HIT IN CHINA BY MEGAN LAWLOR

elebrated Chinese artist Qiumiao Xu dabbles in sculpture, museum design, landscape design, film, and Chinese calligraphy. In her academic and professional career, she has participated in various commissions including the Shanghai EXPO Zhejiang Pavilion; Public Art Collections in Song Dynasty Street in Hangzhou; Hangzhou Subway Concept Planning and The FourthWest Lake International Sculpture Invitation Exhibition as one of the Curators, etc. She is not only devoted to traditional Chinese art but also fascinated with interactive and digital art that can help heal people. The research and practice of interactive art have been implemented throughout her works. Her first public art sculpture was called Rainbow, which was an arch sculpture made of six stainless steel abstract bicycles situated in front of the Carbon EXPO Pavilion of Hangzhou.
