Dayton has a long history of innovation. The airplane was born from the Wright brother’s cycle shop in west Dayton. Today, Dayton is still a city with a rich culture of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. It’s a city that has successfully rebounded – and its vibrant outdoor recreation community played a key role in its rebirth as seen when it hosted the 2017 International Trails Symposium and was named a Best Town by Outside Magazine (July 2017).

“When a city claims to be the Adventure Capital of the Midwest you better hope they’ve got something to offer, and Dayton doesn’t disappoint. I’ve spoken at multiple adventure events around the world and the atmosphere and attitude of the weekend impressed me endlessly. I’ve never been to an event where I’ve been welcomed so warmly, seen a crowd so willing to drive through the snow, and forged partnerships with so many. If I get asked back to the Summit I’ll say yes without even checking the calendar.”

“We opened our doors right about the same time as Five Rivers MetroParks Outdoor Recreation started and we have enjoyed collaborating and partnering with them on the growth of the outdoor scene in Dayton Ohio. The parks and programs that are offered are an extremely valuable resource for our area, and we continue to embrace this. It is great to see a public agency so involved with their local businesses that support the community as well.”

“Zuke’s has had the pleasure of partnering with Five Rivers MetroParks for several years as a sponsor of the Outdoor Experience and we are looking forward to many more years to come. The planning, coordination, and quality of the event is top notch with all the credit going to the amazing staff. We look forward to a lasting partnership with an organization that embraces our core values and the community it serves.”

“The MetroPark trail system has changed our lives. With our overweight bodies, we began with small trails, moving quickly to longer trails as the weight came off, and only a short time later we graduated to hiking the complete 28 mile Twin Valley Trail in a single day! Since then our love for the MetroParks has expanded to the bike trails, and we can attest that the cycling on the MetroPark trail system is some of the best in the country. Dayton is our training ground as the country has become our playground.”

BRIAN AND MICHELLE COLEMAN, LOCAL HIKING ENTHUSIASTS

“OutdoorX was one of the best events I did all year. Not only was it a really fun event, we also saw a lot of value in terms of brand exposure.

AJ HEIL, FIELD MARKETING REPRESENTATIVE FOR ADIDAS TERREX

“The outdoor recreation scene in Dayton is so vibrant that I started a company to lead adventure trips. Our Five Rivers MetroParks’ staff has created such a flourishing interest in activities like backpacking that small businesses such as mine can be successful.”
