I Sold Everything To Buy A Lamborghini And Drive Across The Country Then Set Up Shop in Dallas by: Matt Hardigree www.jalopnik.com Richard Jordan had everything he was told to want: cars, a new house, and a fiancee. Then his fiancee left him. So he sold everything, bought a Lamborghini Gallardo and set out across America. This is his amazing story. This is a love story, but not a conventional one. Sure, there’s a woman. There always is. But it’s when the woman split that the real romance began. This is the story of Richard Jordan, a man who lost love and then found it again in an exotic Italian

sports car and the open American road. Jordan’s journey would take him across the country and back again multiple times as he racked up nearly 100,000 miles on a car so expensive, most owners rarely drive at all. Independence Day It was early 2006 and Richard’s version of the American Dream lay crumbling at his feet. After giving his girlfriend of five years a ring and a house in suburban North Texas — purchased with the proceeds from selling his metal fabrication business, his old house and a few of his cars — she left him. “I bought us the house and planned on moving in and, as soon as I did, she left,” explains Richard. “So I got stuck in a house I didn’t want, in an area I didn’t want to be in... it was kind of emotionally traumatic. So I bought the car and wandered around.” It wasn’t actually as easy as that. No one wanted to buy his new house so he was stuck with it. It took him months to sell the rest of his possessions and he used this money to afford a $90,000 down payment on a Lamborghini Gallardo — one of the most expensive vehicles on the market. The Gallardo is named for a famous Spanish bull and unleashes a massive 512 HP through its mid-mounted V10. Its sharp looks hint at the performance: 0-to-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds with

a top speed of 195 mph for the model Jordan purchased. The price? A steep $180,000 at the time of purchase. After locating the right model and arranging the financing he picked up his black Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe from Lamborghini of Ohio. The date? July 4th, 2006. Independence Day was an almost intentionally ironic choice, as he picked that day to separate from everything he’d created but now no longer wanted, including the house. “I’d become a prisoner to my house, to everything, to my fantasy of an American Dream or anything I could remotely call home.” “I’m Not Moby” With one of the fastest cars in the world but nowhere to take it, Jordan just started driving. For more than a year he wandered from place to place, living in motels and making new friends. He’d cross the United States three times and make trips from Ohio to Colorado to Texas to North Carolina on just a night’s rest. “It was just a feeling that I didn’t really have a home, there was no place to safely be but the Lambo. That was the one thing that felt like it worked for me.” He visited the ghost towns and big cities and retraced childhood trips. As soon as he’d settle down somewhere he’d get the itch to move and pack up to drive somewhere else. He had trouble paying for the house in Dallas — his one remaining possession he couldn’t shake — and was burning through what cash he had to afford gas. He almost lost the house numerous times. “I have a few hundred grand against me, I don’t like debt, but I’m used to it,” Richard says. “I’ve accumulated a lot and paid it back several times in my life.” His wanderings yielded as much joy and humor as they did introspection and isolation, including a trip to strip club in Ohio where Richard, then 32, was mistaken for Moby by an a waitress who was convinced he was the musician because of his shaved head, glasses and fancy car. “This girl comes up and was a waitress and she’s like ‘You’re Moby, aren’t you?’ and I said ‘I’ll be anyone you want me to be,’ and she took it as continued on page 4

between being materialistic and not is when you use what you have.”

Richard is not Moby, but he’s also not completely against accepting free bottles of champagne when offered.

For him, it’s a better value to drive it given the immediate drop in value for a used Lamborghini. It’s even strange for him that others think otherwise.

‘I’m Moby.’”

“It was just ridiculous, the manager’s like kissing my butt, I maybe spent $100 the whole night and it was just really, really silly and absurd.” “It was just like The Blues Brothers!” Driving across the country in a Lamborghini means occasionally driving above the speed limit. Richard’s honest about his desire to go fast and has a drawer full of 53 tickets to prove it. But it wasn’t speed, exactly, that landed him in the handcuffs of an Indiana State Trooper. Though generally jumping from hotel room to hotel room, Richard did have family responsibilities like serving as the best man in his cousin’s wedding. While en route to the wedding he was stopped for speeding but ran afoul of the Indiana State Police and suddenly found himself staring down the highway at a roadblock. Because his car’s registration was one-day expired the troops were able to search the car and found a handgun. “I don’t travel without guns, I’ve been in too many situations so I always carry one or two guns with me,” Richard says. “A car like that is an assault on the senses, and you could be in a decent area and just be barraged by people and you never knew who you’re dealing with.” At first he didn’t grasp the gravity of the situation — the police thought he was moving drugs — so his calm demeanor and jokes about hating the town he was in and a general Blues Brothers schtick didn’t go over well. They kept him in the back of a squad car for four hours, eventually releasing him on his own recognizance when they realized they weren’t able to drive the car on the back of a flatbed without his help. He eventually got the car back and the charges settled, but the whole endeavor cost him $25,000 in fines, travel, and legal fees. 91,807 Miles Most people don’t use their expensive cars as daily drivers exactly because they’re so expensive. The highest mileage of any Lamborghini Gallardo for sale on eBay Motors is 38,835 for a 2004 model, but the majority of vehicles are below 10,000 miles. In his trips across the country Richard managed 91,807 miles. “I can’t afford to buy something like that and drive it on the weekend,” Richard explains. “The difference

“No one is concerned with anything as long as Starbucks and the mall is open. It baffles me. It overwhelms me actually. You can have something that’s as extreme as a Lamborghini — that’s perfect in a sense — and it has no value once you use it.” All that driving does have a price and now the car has even less value. After all the hard driving and long miles, the timing chain stretched, crunching the valves and turning the car into an exotic and expensive paperweight. The car is now worth less than he owes on it and the bank refuses to grant him another loan. “For me, it’s wasteful not to use it. That’s anything. It doesn’t matter if it’s a fucking dishwasher,” says Richard. “That’s not really socially acceptable. It’s not the way we’re programmed... most people don’t live like I do. I’d eat ramen noodles to pay for gasoline, just to avoid the monotony of being stuck in four walls.” Considering the traumatic experience that led him to buy the car, its destruction doesn’t seem to burden him too much. “It worked everyday, it worked like it was supposed to, it never broke down,” Richard assures me. “It exceeded all my expectations.” He’s using his sudden lack of transportation not as the end of one journey but as the start of a new one, setting up a shop in Dallas where he plans to build custom motorcycles and superbikes. He has plans to repair the engine or swap in a new one once he can afford it, but for now it makes an interesting sculpture to show friends and prospective customers in the main room of his new office. Richard’s also met a girl, but he’s trying to take it one step at a time. His Lamborghini may no longer run, but Richard doesn’t regret the decisions he’s made. He adopts a zen-like tone that clashes with his mohawk while explaining how lucky he was to be able to leave everything behind and experience something many fantasize about but almost no one has the balls to actually do. “You’re never going to live up to anyone’s expectations, so you might as well live up to your own and for me that’s to be as free as you can. And if money doesn’t buy you freedom then it’s useless.” We couldn’t agree more.

‘Shady’ porn site practices put visitors at risk Visitors to porn sites are at serious risk of being exploited by cyber criminals, a study has suggested.

“Visitors are being abused as click bots,” he said.

By creating their own porn sites researchers found that many consumers were vulnerable to known bugs and loopholes.

As most sites were free, the only resource they could exploit as a revenue source was this traffic.

Competition among porn sites makes the online adult industry ripe for abuse by hi-tech criminals.

“It’s cut-throat competition,” said Dr Wondracek. “Everybody tries to get as much traffic as possible.”

“They have almost inadvertently created a whole ecosystem that’s easy to abuse for cyber crime on a large scale,” said Dr Gilbert Wondracek, a computer security expert from the International Secure System Lab, which led the study.

Finding victims Traffic is used in many different ways. Popular sites sell it to those looking for an audience, some is used to direct visitors to affiliates who provide content and sometimes it is used to boost rankings in search engine indexes.

Hidden danger Dr Wondracek said the team embarked on the study to find out the truth of the widely held view that porn sites are dangerous to visit.

It could also be a great way for hi-tech criminals to get a ready source of victims, said Dr Wondracek. To test this idea the researchers created two adult sites of their own, populated them with free content from porn producers and spent $160 (£108) to get traffic piped to these sites.

Statistics suggest that approximately 12% of all websites offer pornography of one sort or another and that 70% of men under 24 browse these sites.

Analysis of the 49,000 visitors sent to their sample sites showed that 20,000 were using a computer and browser combination that was vulnerable to at least one known exploit.

As a first step the researchers trawled pornographic sites to classify what they found and how the industry was structured.

“As an attacker you want to make your life easier,” said Dr Wondracek. “If you can have these 20,000 people come to a place instantly, why not?”

Continue reading the main story For the average user it might be hard to tell an honest porn site from a dishonest porn site

With many porn sites appearing in the top 100 most popular sites on the web this could mean that huge numbers of people are caught out when they browse for adult content.

Dr Gilbert Wondracek International Secure System Lab The big distinction was between free sites and those that charge for access. Typically pay sites produce content they give to free sites to drum up traffic. More than 90% of the 35,000 pornographic domains analysed in the study were free sites. The researchers analysed the 269,000 websites hosted on the 35,000 domains to see which hosted malicious software. About 3.23% of these sites were booby-trapped with adware, spyware and viruses. Many others used “shady” practices to keep visitors onsite. These included javascript catchers that made it hard for people to leave a page.

MAGAZINE

The vast majority of sites engage in this trading of traffic or clicks, said Dr Wondracek.

It found that many sites harboured malware or used “shady” practices to squeeze money out of their visitors.

“There are studies looking at the profitability and economics of the industry but we are the first to come at it from a security and more technical point of view,” he said.

Others use scripts that re-direct visitors so when they click on a link they do not see the video or image they were expecting but are passed to an affiliate site.

While relatively few porn sites were infecting visitors, it is difficult to spot good from bad, he said. “For the average user it might be hard to tell an honest porn site from a dishonest porn site until you click on something,” he said. Dr Wondracek recommended that anyone visiting porn sites keep their security software up to date and use the “safe browsing” modes found in many browsing programs. The researchers presented their results at the Workshop on the Economics of Information Security held at Harvard from 7-8 June.

Titans QB Cited In Dallas Strip Club Assault DALLAS -- Vince Young was at a Titans mini-camp on Monday, just days after Dallas police say the Titans quarterback played a role in an altercation at a strip club early Sunday morning. Dallas police said Young participated in an assault at Club Onyx at about

3:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers interviewed witnesses and viewed video of the incident, then filed a class C assault citation against Young. The citation is punishable by a fine of up to $500. Young attended the University of Texas

and is a native of Houston. He is entering his fifth season with the Titans. Titans coach Jeff Fisher said the team is gathering information about the

incident. The coach spoke to the media before his annual charity softball game at Greer Stadium. Young was originally on the roster for the game but did not attend. A Dallas police source said the current Tennessee Titans quarterback was attempting to exchange cash, possibly for single dollar bills, at Club Onyx when someone started making disparaging remarks about the Texas Longhorns. Police say one person made an upsidedown “Hook ‘em, Horns” hand gesture, and a physical altercation ensued. Young is accused of busting an employee’s lip.

“Jackass” , “Viva La Bam” star was attacked with a baseball bat early Saturday morning.

Throughout his unusual career, Bam Margera has taken all sorts of abuse to his head, arms, legs and testicles. But up until early Saturday morning (June 12), he had never been beaten with a bat wielded by a 59-yearold woman. Margera, the skateboarder and breakout star of “Jackass” and “Viva La Bam” on MTV, was assaulted early Saturday morning following a noise complaint at The Note, (www.thenotewc.com ) the bar that Margera owns in his hometown of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth Ray, who lives on the same block as the bar, attacked Margera with a bat at around 2 a.m. on Saturday. She was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. She posted $10,000 bail shortly after her arrest. Ray professed her innocence to the Philadelphia Daily News , claiming that Margera used racial slurs during their initial argument about the noise. “He called me the n-word,” she said. “I’m innocent, and he’s a jackass, just like his movies.” Margera’s mother April (who audiences got to know well on “Viva La Bam”) suggested that this wasn’t the first time her son had an altercation with Ray. “She hit him over

the head with a baseball bat, and she hit him while he was walking to his car,” she said, though she was not actually a witness to the incident. “There was no fight. She’s just crazy and gives him a hard time all the time.” Margera was taken via ambulance to Chester County Hospital and treated for his injuries . “Upon exiting the hospital, Margera hopped on a plane to meet with the rest of the cast of “Jackass 3-D,” which is scheduled to hit theaters this October. METRO ANE SPORTS You know what’s great about this time of year? It can be nine o’clock at night and you’re sittin’ outside on the hood of the car, you’re back is leaning against the windshield, sippin’ a cold one, and watchin’ the night sky for one of those shooters. Or maybe a firefly lights it up across from you. It’s still eighty degrees but that’s the right temperature for dark starry nights in Tejas. Gives a person a chance to ponder the universe and all the great things that make it up, like football bein’ right around the corner. Or what a great hockey season just finished up. Or how two old basketball teams can still fight to the top of the mountain and bring it. Or the rarest of thoughts, how the Rangers are still relevant. Texas in the summer time is a hunter’s state. Know what I mean by that? Hunters have to be patient, restraining the excitement while tracking down the prey. Sports fans have to be patient with nothing to fill them except the hot days while they wait. Down here for the majority of fans football is king and baseball’s a side dish. It’s interesting the Rangers are relevant this time of the year, and it’s great to hit the bleachers, but for right now in the coming heat of summer, it’s all about killin’ time til the great games return.

World Cup. Let’s talk about what used to be perfect with an imperfect tool, and now is imperfect with a perfect tool.

METRO ANE

MAGAZINE

You got it, the soccer ball now being used for the FIFA World Cup Games. To be more exact, the Jabulani World Cup ball produced by Adidas. Andy Harland, the ball’s designer, and Adidas both proclaim this ball to be the most perfect soccer ball ever produced. Let’s look at this. What’s a soccer balls job? It’s meant to be kicked, fly in the air, bounce, and roll. One can logically assume that the ball was NOT meant to flutter like a lame duck in the air, nor roll or bounce erratically. It was aerodynamically designed so that while in the air it would fly straight, yet if a foot were applied in just the right manner it could “bend” or curve, much like a golf ball on a hook or slice. Some goalies in the World Cup Competition have been complaining that the ball is not reacting normally. So what we have are goalies that are accustomed to the way the less perfect balls performed than today’s more perfect one. Adidas is, of course refuting those allegations. Their first order of defense is that the teams have had the new ball since this past December which was more than enough time to test the ball and make any comments, complaints, or suggestions. Adidas’s “between the lines” comment appears to suggest that it’s the goalies who’ve mishandled the ball and been scored on who are registering these complaints and it’s not the ball’s fault. Adidas has spent a ton of money on

the research and development of this Jabulani soccer ball and a boat load more on the marketing of it. It’s a well known phenomena that a product can be tanked by the public for the wrong reasons all on word of mouth and they don’t want that to happen here.

The goalies, who spend a lot of time watching balls come at them from all sorts of directions and speeds, claim that Jabulani does have some kind of glitch to it. What’s my opinion? To tell the truth, I have no idea what Adidas means by a perfect soccer ball, I suspect that’s more marketing than engineering. Why? Well, it’s one thing to ask a ball to roll perfectly on a perfectly flat surface, but once you kick a ball, hey, you’ve changed the surface area of the ball, and depending upon where it was hit, it can go on one of several glide paths toward the target. As for the goalies complaints? Well, hiccups mysteriously appear, sometimes at inopportune moments, who’s to say what’s causing them this time.

MLB. Major League Baseball and the Washington Nationals needed this young pitcher, Stephen Strasburg. MLB needs a clean cut all American kid climbing the charts to be the hottest ace pitcher in years. The Nationals needed somebody who can actually walk to the mound and throw the ball across the plate. Am I gonna bark at this young man? Nope. I’m gonna take a bite outta MLB and the Nationals. C’mon, let’s get a grip on reality here. Yes, the kid has won his first two games, and he threw 14 strikeouts the first game. He’s got a proven 100

Voted America’s #1 Adult Weekly

mph fastball and a deadly variable speed curve. I’m totally impressed.

But, let’s take a step back and give the kid a break. What’s he supposed to do, win every game he pitches? Look great each time on the mound? Do you honestly wanna ruin the kid? The Nationals did for the rookie what most organizations try to do, they scheduled his first game with a team that wasn’t gonna take him apart, meaning they gave him the Pittsburgh Pirates not the New York Yankees. At the time of the game there were only three teams in the entire MLB that were worse than the Pirates, one in the National and two in the American. Now maybe nobody thought he’d go out and throw 14 strikes, but really, he was up against one of the overall worst teams out there. Hell, his Nationals are only a few games better than Pittsburgh and they’re last in the NL East. What’s MLB and the Nationals do? They see that ESPN and other media are all hyping the kid and his opening game so they don’t do anything to calm it down. I get the money side of things, and the Nationals filled more seats for Strasburg’s opener than any time over the last three hundred years, but that’s unbelievable pressure to put on this young man. And what happens in his second game, against the Indians? He wins that one, too, which by the way prevented Cleveland from sweeping them. Strasburg is supported by a lousy outfield and a cruddy infield. Maybe they’ll play a little better when he’s pitching but they’re already operating at their peak skill levels. The Nationals can’t lose their heads and overwork

the kid, plus both need time while new players are brought in that can actually play at the majors.

NBA. Well, they’ve had their moments but in general I don’t think these Finals have been as exciting as the announcers are trying to make them. If Kobe’s fellow starters are doing so poorly why aren’t the Celtic’s beating them like yard dogs? If the Lakers bench is so underperforming and Boston’s bench is reaching for the stars, why aren’t they pounding the life outta them? Overall there’s been more really great plays than great games. The most consistently great player on the floor’s been Rajon Rondo, man, that dude has the eye and mind for the game and backs it up. Great stuff. How bad off are the Lakers? Basketball players talk to each other on the court all the time, got to, but when I see Kobe having to direct and explain things, brother, its serious time. As bad as that is, it’s actually great to see him keep his poise and calmly be directing things. I gotta tell ya, if Kobe loses it, these guys have no chance. Who’s given Kobe the most support? Gasol. Maybe Fisher next, but he’s turning a tad inconsistent. The Lakers keep coming but you can see it in their actions, the Celtics got in their heads. Even if a game 7 is forced, the bigger edge goes to Boston. If LA ends up winning this thing it will have turned from them starting out as the far and away favorites to one of the biggest rally upset in recent years.

NFL. Hey, might as well talk about some off season questions, huh? IF Favre comes back do the Vikings get the nod to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl? You know what, I don’t give it to ‘em. Yeah, they’re returning almost the whole team, and they drafted probably the best running back out there in Gerhart. But the difference here is mental.

METRO ANE

MAGAZINE

Last year Favre’s whole attitude, whether he admits it publicly or not, was revenge against the Packers. The guy was driven to show them they made a huge mistake, and brother did he ever. The cost? He got his butt pounded worse than any other time in his career. So now, IF he comes back, he no longer has the emotional urgency of showing up Green Bay, plus his body remembers the pain, so what’s gonna motivate him as highly? Yeah, he probably wants another ring, but my friends, that don’t have the same intensity as revenge against the team that did you dirty. Who should be paid more, Payton Manning or Tom Brady? That’s a question that’s been going around and I don’t care for it. The better question, why aren’t either one of them making as much as Matt Ryan of the Falcons? When Ryan signed his $72 million contract with $34.75 guaranteed, without ever putting on pads or taking a snap he became the highest paid player in the NFL. Some analysts think if Manning and Brady get big contracts, like $20 million a year and up, then there won’t be a lock out next season, but if not, it’s a stoppage. My feeling is the league created this mess and now they’ve gotta bear the pain of fixing it. Readers Response: Two Dogs: My husband and I were watching the women’s college world series when a player’s name was shown, a RISP, but we couldn’t find any information on her. Two Dogs: I don’t understand why some athletes just won’t retire before they embarrass themselves? Why not go out on top and not look foolish to the public? Is the male ego simply that fragile or their pride not strength but a weakness? Karla Dallas Karla: You can place it at the feet of testosterone, you can lay it at the altar of ego, but for men it always comes down to the question, how strong are you? Folding is for losers and winners take hits. It’s how the best of us got to the moon, darlin’, and its how the rest of us get to work. TD Two Dogs: Man, I just don’t get why you don’t think fishing’s a sport, c’mon, that’s big time money and game. The boats are fast and then tracking down the bottom dwellers, it’s great and bass is big money. Terry Mesquite

Sheryl Durant Sheryl: Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Golden Tate was cited for trespassing when he and a friend went into a popular doughnut place in Seattle and took some maple bars. He says his buddy made a mistake and went inside and got them. C’mon, that wasn’t a mistake. They talked it over and they knew the place was closed and they chose to do it anyway. Geez, ya think that’s a crime? He also says if you’ve ever tasted them you’d know what came over him. Apparently most are laughing this off since it wasn’t killing dogs or shooting themselves in the leg. Maple bars are my favorite but I don’t do B & E, and do you think they’d laugh it off if I did? TD Two Dogs: Did Titans QB Vince Young really defend UT’s honor and punch a dude out? Lance Midlothian

Terry: Well, as much as somebody tries to make some philosophical statement about fishing, like, “there’s a symbiotic relationship between man, the elements, and respecting the fish”, I think that’s a truck load of rotting beans. Game fish? Ridiculous. The things got a hook in its mouth and is trying to get it loose, he don’t know squat about some “game”. That said, I enjoy getting out there and bein’ by the water, and then catchin’ and eatin’ some fresh fish. There’s another old saying: the worst day of fishing is better than the best day at the office. But a sport it ain’t.

Lance: It was 3 a.m. at a strip club and the dude was a club employee. He gave the reverse Hook ‘em Horns salute, which is an insult, but he was also bad mouthing Young. A fracas ensued with several folk throwing fists, but Young was the only one cited. I don’t have a problem with Young defending his name but take a look at where he was: a strip club at three in the morning on Sunday. Now, considering the Titans were scheduled to hold a three day mandatory camp that started on Monday, well, again that shows to character. By the way, Tate stole his maple bars at 3 a.m. do you think there’s a trend with athletes doing bad things late?

Fashion has met technology with a UK based mobile phone company. Orange worked together with a renewable energy company called GotWind and came up with a unique way to charge your mobile phone by using the heat in your feet to create electricity. This creative green

device involved a computer connected to a syringe driver which could deliver a lethal dose of medication at the touch of a button. It killed four terminally ill Australians before being outlawed in 1997. The students’ deaths have sent shockwaves through the remote Orkney communities where they were raised. A friend, who asked not to be named, said: ‘No one can understand why this has happened. They were just boys next door – good fun and good friends to have.’ Bright future: Orkney lad James Robertson was a gifted musician as well as a top class maths and physics student Mr Robertson had attended Stromness Academy, while Mr Miller, who was just

energy idea is being showcased at the Glastonbury Festival 2010 with the Orange Power Wellies prototypes being onsite for people to check out. The reality is that you have to walk around to generate electricity. Orange said that it would take about twelve hours of walking around at the Glastonbury Festival to charge your mobile battery for about one hour of use. They suggest if you need more battery time, then dance it up because they say that the hotter your feet get, the more electricity you make. Orange is having a contest focused around their Orange Power Wellies. You can check it out on their blog at http://glastonbury.orange.co.uk/. Orange will have Chill ‘n’ Charge tents for recharging your mobile phones. There was over 40,000 people that stopped by to visit these tents last year. Mobile phone users can recharge their phones, upload pictures and text and tweet at their venue.

And speaking of childrem, one of the best remedies for childhood teeth pains were cocaine drops. Not only did they ease the pain, they only uplifted the humour of those who took them. For singers, teachers and public speakers, cocaine and mint drops were ‘indispenable’, as they soothed sore throats

and gave their vocal cords ‘softness and elasticity’. They were also good at cheering these professionals up, helping them reach their maximum performance. One of the most common ways of taking cocaine with therapeutic purposes was to mix it with wine. These wines had medicinal as well as recreational powers, acting as a sort of antidepressant. Hell Society brings their fans an explosive combination of influences ranging from classic rock bands such as Pink Floyd, then fast forwarding to early metal classics such as Black Sabbath, and throwing in a side of modern industrial types like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry to make a truly unique, cultured sound. What this means for the fans is that they see and hear a finished product that is both heavy and extreme, while still possessing those deeply rooted qualities that serves as an homage to those who came before and blazed the trail throughout the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Hell Society has it all, with powerful, yet melodic vocals, energetic, aggressive guitar rhythms, thundering bass guitarstylings, and haunting electronic accompaniments. Hell Society’s first official release “Sedate The World” hit the streets in October 2008, and is fast becoming one of the most memorable debuts to date. Built in 1948, opened in 1950, The Ridglea Theater was a state of the art movie theater and a beautiful, art-“decoish” landmark on the West side of Fort Worth. With the advent of the multiplex, people stopped supporting these wonderful old theaters. The Ridglea was turned into a movie/dinner theater in the early 90’s and closed after a couple of unsuccessful years. It sat vacant for almost three years. In 1998, Richard Van Zandt and Wesley Hathaway leased the wonderful old building, following a dream they had of presenting Richard’s innovative and unique LASER light shows. While the shows were fabulous, they didn’t pay the rent and the couple turned the venue into a live concert hall with their first musical performance in 1999. Since then,

Joey Medina a Puerto Rican who was born and raised in the Bronx, New York is one of the freshest and funniest comedians around today. Joey spent most of his teen years perfecting his boxing skills that would one day earn him a state Championship as a professional and a shot at the world title before becoming a heavy-hitter in the comedy arena. He headlines comedy clubs, casinos and theaters throughout the United States and has also toured Asia, Europe and the Middle East. He has proudly performed for the US Armed Forces during wartime in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait and Iraq, as well as the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier. Joey also starred in the Paramount picture The Original Latin Kings of Comedy with Cheech Marin, Paul Rodriguez, George Lopez and Alex Reymundo. He can also be seen on Cheech Marin and Friends: Live From South Beach DVD by Comedy Central and Comedy on Steroids DVD distributed by Laughing Hyena. The film is currently available on DVD through Maverick Entertainment.

Joey wrote, produced and hosted Sí TV’s first scripted television show, Circumsized Cinema. Executive produced by awardwinning film producer, Moctesuma Esparza (Selena), the show re-edited campy Mexican movies into 30-minute “mini-movies” with totally new, scripted English audio tracks for a hilarious and utterly original half-hour television show. In addition, Joey is also recognized as one of the hosts and producers of Loco Comedy Jam, a stand-up comedy show featuring some of the best Latino comedians in the country on Mun2 Television. He also wrote a screenplay for R&B artists Baby Bash and Chingo Bling called, Primos and is currently in pre-production on his fifth screenplay entitled Revenge of the Mexicans. Joey is a veteran of over 50 television appearances and has also costarred with Danny Trejo and B Real from the rap group, Cypress Hill in the film Devil Inside. Joey just finished costarring in the action-comedy Zombie Strippers with Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund Latin Style Magazine says “Joey is one of the few comedians that can bridge together urban with mainstream comedy to make his style a hit throughout the country.”
