MU Journey Highlights and University Update from the President The Methodist University Journey is about embracing experiences outside of the classroom that prepare students for a productive career, and a life of meaning and purpose. The speakers will be Dr. Mark Kendrick, director of the Center for Community Engagement; Dr. Drew Ziegler, director of the Lura S. Tally Center for Leadership Development; and Dr. Ben Hancock, president of Methodist University.

“Lunch on The Green” by Carrabba’s Italian Grill Carrabba’s Italian Grill proprietor Mark Moses ’97 serves up delicious Italian cuisine on site for only $10 per person for all who pre-register for Family Weekend by October 26, and $15 after the deadline. Meals sell out fast! Purchase in advance to ensure that you have reserved your place! All proceeds benefit the Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund. Live music will entertain you while you enjoy a casual lunch.

Breakfast Brunch Enjoy a great breakfast/brunch in the Green and Gold cafeteria with your MU student before you head back home. You do not need to preregister and will be able to pay for your breakfast at the door. MU Student Gospel Choir, “One Voice,” will be showcasing their talent and singing a variety of numbers for you and your family.

Evening at The Cameo Art House Theater Located in the heart of downtown Fayetteville, The Cameo is home to one of Fayetteville’s earliest motion picture theaters, built in 1908. Newly renovated and named by the Sundance Film Festival in 2002 as “The Best Place to Take a Date,” the theater has been rented out just for MU families & we invite you to enjoy a feature film (title TBA), popcorn, candy, and drink. Cost is $10 per person during online preregistration before October 26, and $15 per person in late registration.

Tailgating in the Monarch Zone Student clubs and organizations offer games, spirit giveaways, food booths, and more behind Davis Library. A limited number of Tailgating spaces will be available in Berns parking lot adjacent to Monarch Stadium on a first-come, first-serve, basis. Tailgaters must arrive prior to 10:00 a.m. to set up and cannot leave the parking lot until the football game is finished. Please contact DeeDee Jarman at 910.630.7283 to reserve your space.

Although Family Weekend will officially be over Sunday, Nov. 4, there are other opportunities for your Sunday afternoon. You can play a game of golf at King’s Grant Country Club for a discounted family weekend rate of $25 per person, please contact Ron Stevenson at 910.630.1111 to reserve your tee time.
