Back, after a few years hiatus, is our Disc Golf League. Sign up your two person team, either coed or single gender. All participants will play the same holes and yardages. Both players’ scores are counted each week—going towards weekly and season individual and team honors. Low team wins prizes for nightly and end of season scores. A minimum of 10 teams is necessary to hold this league, so get a team, and get registered. The proceeds of this league will go to help in the costs to renovate the baskets, signage, and course itself. Contact Ryan Maehl at rymaehl@fortdodgeiowa.org or call 576-7237 with questions.

Oleson Park Splash Pad OPEN FOR THE SEASON MEMORIAL DAY! HOURS OF NORMAL OPERATION Seven days a week weather permitting, will close in case of bad weather upon discretion of staff. Hours are: 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Staff reserves the right to modify if necessary without notice. If weather watches are issued, the splash pad will be closed. Re-opening will be determined on the time of day.

WHAT IS A SPLASH PAD? A splash pad is an area for water play that has no standing water. The water in the system is recycled and treated water that is treated to at least the same level of quality as swimming pool water standards. To help us in keeping our public aquatic facilities clean, we ask that swim diapers be worn at all times, those with diarrhea refrain from playing in the water, and we all do our part to discourage the drinking of pool/splash pad water.

Friendly reminders before visiting the Oleson Park Splash Pad: * SWIM SUITS REQUIRED FOR PLAY IN SPLASH PAD * Street shoes not allowed * Swim diapers required * Pets outside of fenced area * Plastic containers only * This is a smoke free environment * Walk please! Not responsible for injury incurred while running * Leave the gum home and bicycles outside of fence area * Parents and adults please help enforce our safe play rules

Forestry Department

Recreational Trails System

Proud Recipient of the Tree City Award for the past 29 years! Phone: 573-5791

Fort Dodge Parks & Recreation is proud to have a full-service Forestry Department under its auspices. City Forestry provides trimming and/or pruning of city right of way (parking trees), removing dead, dying, hazardous or diseased trees from the parking or other city property. They also grind out and remove stumps from the parking and city property and refill holes with black dirt and compost.

The park system presently has three trails that are linked together providing social, recreational, and economic benefits to the community. Make sure to watch for new trail connections opening later this spring & summer.

Fort Dodge Nature Trail - 3 miles Begins at Williams Drive at Snell-Crawford park entrance and leads northeast to the city limits ending at Highway D-14. The nature trail is good for walking, biking, jogging, and cross-country skiing.

Soldier Creek Nature Trail - 2.8 miles Begins at Williams Drive and leads southwest under North 3rd Street Bridge to Central Avenue, then West and North to Hawkeye Avenue Bridge. The trail is 10' wide and asphalted to Central Avenue, switching to concrete from Central Avenue to Hawkeye Bridge. Good for walking, biking, rollerblading, and skateboarding.

Forestry provides other miscellaneous care of cracked and/or injured trees and they provide information in regard to Phinney Park Trail - 1 mile Begins at Phinney Park entrance and leads south along the Des Moines River to insect/disease problems infecting trees. Avenue C Hill. The trail is 10' wide and all asphalted. Good for walking, biking, rollerblading, and skateboarding.

Tree Memorial Program One of our most successful parks programs, a tree memorial is an outstanding and thoughtful way to remember a loved one. Call FD Parks & Recreation to receive more information or visit fortdodgeiowa.org to print off a copy of the Tree Memorial Order Form.

32nd Street Trail - 2 miles Begins at 5th Avenue North & 32nd Street. Trail leads North adjacent to 32nd Street through the roundabout continuing North by the aquatic center to 25th Avenue North. This trail has a future connection to Soldier Creek Trail.

15th Street Trail - 1 mile Begins at the corner of Villiage Inn. Trail continues North to Harlan Rogers. *All trails are closed to motorized vehicles.

DATES FOR TREE PLANTINGS Spring & Fall Please remember, if your property abuts an alleyway, it is your civic duty to help create unimpeded travel along the roadway. Unpruned brush can create vision and safety concerns, cause property damage to vehicles that travel through, and could hinder the ability of the FDPD, Fire and Public Works Departments to effectively carry out their jobs. Please help us make the alleyways safe!
